Games start stuttering after 20-30 minutes
R.E.P.O and Risk of Rain 2 start stuttering (15 FPS) after 20-30 minutes. When I restart the game it runs fine and then it starts stuttering again.
I've tried launching the game with gamescope as I've seen some people on ProtonDB recommend. But if I put the following launch options:
LD_PRELOAD="" gamescope -r 165 -W 1920 -H 1080 -- %command%The games just won't fire up (proton experimental). I have gamescope installed.
My drivers are mounted properly:
berror@berrorpc:~$ inxi -G Graphics: Device-1: NVIDIA GA107M [GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Mobile] driver: nvidia v: 570.153.02 Device-2: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Cezanne [Radeon Vega Series / Radeon Mobile Series] driver: amdgpu v: kernelvulkaninfo and nvidia-smi run without errors too. I am endeavourOS on the 6.14.9-arch1-1 kernel. Also, I am on KDE and am on the "performance" mode.

Do all Steam games work on Linux? How's the situation today?
Hi, I'm reposting a question from four years ago (this). Like the other person, I'm considering switching to Linux, but I'm passionate about video games. I was therefore wondering whether compatibility issues still exist or if the situation has improved. If so, which distro of Linux would you suggest switching to?
P.S.
In the answers to other posts, I saw someone mention ProtonDB. Is that the solution?

Left 4 Dead 2 won't run on Linux

Should I create a swap partition ?
I remember somes games in Windows used to benefit from having a swap partition (Battlefield series notably) even with plenty of RAM.

Played the latest version of Dead By Daylight and am having trouble with one thing…
Hi everyone!
I became a linux gamer today… and I’m running into an issue. Using the proton beta and latest stable version, I have this constant flickering going on in matches and I lose frames inconsistently.
This is the main game I play and the reason I made the jump to Linux is because the game supports it, so what can I do? I’m all for tinkering as I’m a CIS major and love doing things like this, but I have no clue where to begin…
Specs: CachyOS Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU NVIDIA RTX 3080 32GB of RAM GNOME
Quick Edit: Wanted to mention I’ve tried messing with the launch settings and say that I’ve tried using DX11, and that didn’t really help the issue.

Ghostrunner 2 horrible frames on Heroic
Hello, I recently started playing Ghostrunner 2 on the Heroic Launcher. At start I had to lower the video settings but that was expected considering my specs. The game ran fine at first, but after closing it and reopening, I started having horrible framerates as in 6 FPS in the title screen.
Has anyone ever had a problem like this? I have tried both Proton-GE and Wine-GE to no avail. My specs are:
OS: Fedora Linux 42 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition) x86_64
CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400H (12) @ 4.50 GHz
GPU 1: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile / Max-Q [Discrete]
GPU 2: Intel UHD Graphics @ 1.45 GHz [Integrated]
Memory: 23.24 GiB (26%)

ISDone.all error “It is not found any file specified for ISArcExtract” when using Wine to install a game.
I am installing a game I downloaded and I am getting this error. I have tried using Wine from terminal, launching it directly, Bottles and Lutris and this error happens every time.
Did I miss something when installing wine?

For all 9 people that play The Finals
1440p, 7800X3D, 32 DDR5 6000Mhz, 9070XT. Custom settings, no RT, FSR3 Quality At the same GPU power ~313W, playing through the quick cash tutorial. NixOs 25.05 - 315 avg fps Windows 10 - 285 avg fps. Playing on steam. On NixOs, in competitive games I get about 210 fps.
I ordered an ultrawide monitor and wanted to check if the 9070XT is enough and whether I'd have to switch to Windows to play competitively. To my surprise, it ran better on linux.

Emulators
I know this might be a bit of a tabuu question (or not), but this question is important so I can transition to Linux. Which emulators are compatible with Linux nowadays? The ones I use in my PC with Windows 11 are PCSX2, Dolphin, Retroarch, Xemu, PPSSPP and Ryujinx (thinking about transitioning to Eden).

Severe FPS drop in Dota 2 after ~25 minutes on Linux with RX 7600 — anyone else?
Hi everyone,
I've been dealing with a very specific and frustrating issue in Dota 2 on Linux, and I’m hoping someone else has encountered it or can help me narrow it down.
🎯 THE ISSUE
- Dota 2 runs perfectly fine for the first 25 to 26 minutes of each match.
- After that, there’s a sudden FPS drop from stable ~120 FPS down to 20–40 FPS.
- The game becomes nearly unplayable, with severe stuttering and mini-freezes.
- This behavior is 100% reproducible, every single match.
- The rest of the system remains stable — the game doesn’t crash or close, but stays laggy until manually restarted.
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7600 (RDNA3)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 4100 (4c/8t @ 4.1 GHz)
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4
- Monitor: 1080p 140 Hz, dual-monitor setup
- Drive: NVMe SSD 1TB (ext4)
- Distros tested: Arch Linux, CachyOS, Debian (LXQt)
- Desktops tested: XFCE 4.20, KDE Plasma 6.3.4, MATE, LXQt
- Kernel versions: 6.14.0, 6.14.4-zen, 6.9rc (same results)
- Mesa: 25.0.2 (also tried downgrading/upgrading)
- Steam: Native and Flatpak versions tested
- Compositors: Tried with/without compositor (xfwm, picom, KWin)
- Display Server: X11 and wayland
- Launch options: -vulkan, -gl, no flags, and custom combos.
- Proton versions: GE, Experimental, older releases.
- Fully cleared shadercache and game config.
- Steam Overlay disabled.
- Tried fullscreen, borderless, and windowed — same issue.
- Forced 1080p and max FPS with launch flags.
- Fresh runtime environment, game reinstalled and verified.
- Temps are fine (GPU/CPU max around ~65°C).
- No thermal throttling, no CPU spikes, no I/O stalls.
- RAM and VRAM usage is low, no swap pressure.
- Tried with and without gamemoded, mangohud, GOverlay.
- Tested multiple kernels, disabled C-states and suspend in BIOS.
- GRUB tweaks: amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff, amdgpu.dc=1, etc.
- Using RADV as primary Vulkan driver.
- Also tested AMDVLK, with VK_ICD_FILENAMES override.
- Same issue on both drivers.

Is Nobara project good for me?
Hello everyone, I'm new to the Linux world, so I wanted to know if Nobara is a good option for me to start with.
I was initially going to migrate to Fedora, but I discovered that Nobara is based on Fedora and I was interested, but there are so many different versions of Linux that I don't know what to choose.
If it helps to make a recommendation, I like OSes with an appearance that is a little different from Windows.
