Looking for Distro!
Hey all, I'm finally past my breaking point with windows and am ready to switch. I was holding out hoping that valve would drop Steam OS for desktop before W10 EOL but alas that hasn't happened. I've gotten fairly familiar with using it on my steam deck over the past few years so I was hoping to find something similar. As with most people the amount of flavors around is kind of overwhelming and im not sure what I should go with, but am more than willing to learn and tinker as needed. This will be used almost exclusively for gaming. I may need to dualboot windows for programs that only work there for non gaming things. Any advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, I appreciate it!
Edit: System hardware in case needed Ryzen 9 3900x Nvidia 2080 super 32 gb ddr4 3200mhz ram

What magic have I done....
To start, I want it noted that I am still somewhat new to Linux. Somehow I have managed to dual boot windows and Linux while secure boot is still enabled. I am currently on CachyOS, and I have NOT followed the guide to enable Secure Boot as described on their wiki. However, I previously ran Nobara and Bazzite and both worked fine with Secure Boot also.
Now, I am not certain I am secure booting into my Linux side, however I know for a fact I am on my windows side as any games that require secure boot enabled for anti-cheat still work perfectly fine. When I switch back and forth between Linux and Windows, I change nothing in my bios. All I have ever done, each time I switched distros, is wipe my Linux drive and reinstalled the new distro of choice. I could probably do this again with another distro and all works fine.
I am beginning the think it might be something specific to my motherboard but I do not know.
So to the title, what have I done and how do I repeat this (asking for a friend)?
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E
CPU: 7950x
GPU: 4080 Super
Dual Boot: 2 separate NVMEs, one for windows and one for Linux
I don't know what else I can provide for clarity or to help others understand what I have done but just ask and I can try to provide more details.

Want to switch from Windows 10 to Linux, need help as a beginner
Hello everyone, and thanks to whoever is gonna give me an answer. Considering W10 support is shutting down, and my pc can't run W11, i thought about switching to linux. i've got some questions about compatibility and performance:
I mainly play GTA 5 (offline, with mods, no online), Rocket League (online), IW4X and Plutonium (old cods launchers), steam games, minecraft (bedrock and java, bought on microsoft store).
I know not everything is plug and play. chatgpt told me i should be able to run them without issues, but i want to ask to some real people and not an AI. the main question is if i can run these games and how good they run. also if u guys can recommend me some beginner gaming distros it'd be better for me :)

Auto profile switching for Logitech mouse (as with G HUB)
Hello,
I'm in the process of switching to Linux Mint, and I'm trying to set up my peripherals (with a priority for my G502 Lightspeed). I can't find anything on automatic profile switching, though.
I heavily rely on this feature, which basically automatically switches between G HUB profiles, depending on which app is focused. I can have a set of buttons working in a way when I'm browsing the web, and in another way if I ALT-TAB into a game.
Do you know a way I could make this work, in Mint?

HDR issues in The Witcher 3
I recently switched from windows to CachyOS.
I installed the GOG version of The Witcher 3 using Lutris. And I want to enable HDR. I tried gamescope but the mouse movement is too fast and the sound is too low.
Then I tried the wayland using the following environment variables:
DXVK_HDR = 1
ENABLE_HDR_WSI = 1
AMD_VULKAN_ICD = RADV or AMDVLK (I tried both)
But using this method results in washed out image.
I have tried this method with some other games and it works fine but gives issue with this game.
How can I fix the issue and use HDR and which proton version should I use

9070 XT Big FPS drops when playing Megabonk
(edit) running the game native hits 300 constantly. Still baffled as to why it makes such a big difference with this particular game.
I recently made the switch to AMD from NVIDIA so there could be something I missed in the prerequisites.
On Windows, Megabonk hits 300 FPS constantly, while on Arch I'm getting very big drops, sometime as low as 40 even with every graphic setting turned all the way down. Deadlock, Warframe and Rocket League run perfectly fine.
While typing this I can see Megabonk (active window) sitting at the main menu with an FPS going all over the place. 130, 170, 260, 70, 295...
Should I be playing the game native? I'm honestly very surprised by the huge performance difference for such modest looking game.

Steam Library Migration
Greetings all!
I’ve just installed Kubuntu on a separate SSD on my PC, which has been running Windows 10 for years. I’m now dual-booting between the two.
I saw several videos suggesting that it’s possible to install Linux and simply point the Linux version of Steam to an existing game library on another drive. I tried this by linking my Linux Steam installation to the HDD where my Windows Steam library is stored. However, I’m not satisfied with the results — some games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain do load, but the frame rate and graphics performance are terrible, practically a slideshow.
I suspect this might have something to do with my graphics drivers, but since this is my first time using Linux, I’m not entirely sure how to proceed. Any advice would be deeply appreciated!
System Specs:
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (dual-boot with Kubuntu)
Processor: 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz (16 CPUs, ~3.6GHz)
Memory: 32 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
DirectX Version: 12
Storage Setup:
128 GB SSD – Windows 10
1 TB SSD – Kubuntu
6 TB HDD – Steam Library & RetroArch

First time using Linux, cant get mods to load
Hey guys. Recently bought a new pc. Took the nvme with my games from my old windows pc and put it into my new pc. Steam didnt really start the games on my old drive, with some help from chatgpt I added some pointers on a local drive and got the games to start, but i never was able to make the mods load. Pc gaming without mods is for me a no go so i just went back to windows. That was half a year ago. Now win10 is pretty much eol, so i gotta think about what to do. I stilm have dual boot activated and can load up my linux. Does anyone know why my mods didnt load? Do i have to format my drive and reinstall all games and then it works? Or do mods and mod loaders just not work with linux? Tried tales of berseria, monster hunter world and code vein for example
