mount vhd's in dolphin ?

Hello,

I run KDE Plasma and i need to play around with a lot of vhd's for my MiSTer FPGA, while i was managing it on windows it was pretty easy, under Linux i seam to be forced to use the terminal, while a terminal is not a problem for doing it every now and then, but mounting 10 or 20 vhd's in an hour to make modifications to my installs its a long process.

Is there someone who knows of a plugin to mount vhd's in the dolphin file manager ?

lsfg-vk isn't working with Wine game (Monster Hunter Frontier)

I'm trying to get Monster Hunter Frontier Z, runned from Lutris using wine-ge-8.26, at 60fps using lsfg-vk. I have the software bought on Steam and I configured both the .dll path and pointed the exe process on the lsfg-vk profile.

I tried both on fullscreen and windowed mode, opening the program before/after launching the game. None of this worked for me.

The game can be played at 60fps using the program ON WINDOWS, but I'm not willing to dual-boot just for this game heh.

Has anyone got any experience with lsfg-vk? Does it even work with Wine games?

Mouse leaving game window (hyprland)

Hi,

I've been using Linux for a while and recently switched to Hyprland with the End/4 dotfiles.

I'm encountering an issue where, when launching a game, my cursor moves out of the game window to either my secondary monitor or the edge of the screen. This prevents me from being able to look around in-game.

I'm running Arch Linux with an NVIDIA GPU and an AMD CPU. My current launch options are:
WLR_DRM_NO_ATOMIC=1 gamescope -f -w 2560 -h 1440 -- mangohud %command%

Any help would be appreciated.

Fedora Update broke Vulkan shaders?

When the Steam sale started this week, I picked up Total War: Warhammer III, which I've been wanting to play for a while. It worked fine and I played about 4 hours total across 2 different sessions on the native build.

Then the other day, my Software app (Fedora 42) popped up a notification about urgent updates, so I accepted them. After restarting, I have been unable to play the game, as whenever I load into a 3d view (main menu is fine), the game freezes and a pop-up displays which says

Game crashed with signal 6
vkWaitForFences failed:-4
You may be able to relaunch the game to send the crash log automatically.
etc...

This is the case for both my saved games, and multiple attempts at starting a new campaign, so it doesn't appear to be related to a particular faction.

I checked the update history with dnf history list, but that for some reason doesn't show any changes that the Software app makes to the system, and there is no history within the app itself. I have disabled automatic updates from this app and will only be updating from the command line moving forwards.

I've tried downgrading the package mesa-vulkan-drivers but only one previous version is available, and I'm not even sure if that's the one that used to be installed, because again, Software app has no logs.

Any suggestions for how I could troubleshoot this problem?

I do have the latest dump file mentioned in the error message, but no idea how to open them. file says it's a "Mini DuMP crash report", but GDB doesn't recognize the format.

My experience with modding Skyrim in Limo

This was my first ever Skyrim modding attempt on Linux. I guess you can see this post as a feedback to Limo's devs and other players. Note I am by no means a pro (quite the opposite in fact), so I CAN be wrong in my observations.

My observations:

  • Limo was supposed to "import Skyrim from Steam", but it wasn't showing on the list. Did it manually instead, but once I've added SKSE and one other mod, something got broken and the application (where you pick your game) went blank instead. I could still pick it regardless, but it didn't work. Then I realized that I perhaps should restart Steam as I've just bought the game. And ye - only then it showed up and I was able to import.
  • I couldn't find a clarified info whether I should go with "hard link", "sym link" or "copy".
  • SKSE says "Current Anniversary Edition build 2.2.6 (game version 1.6.1170)" - My game has that version, but it's Special Edition, so it can be quite confusing.
  • Adding SKSE to Limo was supposed to give me two mods (Data & Bin) automatically. It did not. With a help of an AI bot, I figure out I need to separate the archive into two and add two instead.
  • Setting up a NexusMods API key was confusing because I tried to find Limo app on the list and it wasn't there. I did not know I don't have to do that at all.
  • Some mods had a file structure that Limo couldn't handle like: KS_Hairdos -> Data -> "actual files". I had to manually recreate the archive to go like this: KS_Hairdos -> "actual files". Only after this change the mod started to work.
  • I had my doubts about installing mods requiring NetScriptFramework, .dlls, SKSE plugins and I avoided most mods requiring it, so...
  • ... it's one of the reasons I gave up on trying to get a mod that shows body in FPP when looking down, displaying enemy levels, quick loot. All of them crashed my game or bricked SKSE.
  • Game launches and works despite having conflicts.
  • The backup thingy in Limo is totally incomprehensible.
  • Modding on Linux is scary if you are very far into the process. I was launching the game every mod to see if something got broken many times, but I guess Windows ain't that different on the matter.
  • Because of that I didn't bother with any graphical mods, so my Skyrim looks crap. ;)

I hope this is helpful to someone in some way.

Bad Framerate with Linux Mint (Cinnamon). Please Help.

I dual-boot my computer for testing the same games on Linux Mint vs Windows 10. I am getting significantly less framerates when playing WoW on Linux(70-110fps) vs Windows 10 (170-200fps). This large discrepancy is making my gaming experience on Linux unplayable right now. I would love any advice to get my Framerate back up to near the window's framerate. Here are the specs of my computer.

-Intel i7 - 7700K Processor

-Ausu Prime z270-A MoBo

-16GB DDR4 3200 RAM

-Nvidia 3080 Graphics Card

-Samsung 990Pro 1TB (linux boot in the M1 slot) or Samsung 960Evo 256GB (Windows boot in the M2 slot)

I installed the Battle.net launcher through Lutris. I was getting an error during install and found a post that said to use ProtonPlus to install Proton 10.6 and that fixed the issue. Any advice on how to get WoW to a playable state would be appreciated.

Like, Playnite has a theme that resemble the PS5 look which is amazingly pretty imo, and since Playnite isn't supported on Linux as far as I know, maybe someone knows an alternative?

Dawn of War 1 performance issues

I've been playing through the GOG version of the original version (NOT the new Definitive Edition) of the base game of Dawn of War 1 using Lutris + Proton Experimental. So far, I've noticed an issue where the game stutters a lot when there's a large amount of objects/models in play. This issue seems to also be present on Proton versions 9.0, 8.0, and 7.0 as well as GE-Proton10-17. Proton 5.0 doesn't seem to have this issue EXCEPT every ~10 seconds, the game freezes (other than audio) for ~1-2 seconds. I also can't seem to use Proton 5.0 with Lutris because it crashes when it tried to create a new prefix with it, so I have no choice but to use Steam with Proton 5.0. I've also tried using Proton 3.16 with Steam using this guide, but it didn't work for me (the game window didn't even open). Anyone else encountering similar issues?

  • 1280x960

  • Windowed

  • No v-sync

  • No FPS cap
