Is Bazzite the best for simple console-like experience?
I know my way around Linux for pretty basic things, and have been trying to learn more as I go.
I have a PC at my desk, and another PC as my HTPC. My desktop is running cachyOS KDE, and it runs perfectly. KDE is the best DE for me because it seems to be the one that just works out of the box. HDR works without any hassle, gaming is no problemo, etc.
But that's with keyboard and mouse. It's my desktop PC where I browse thw web, do some gaming, do some work, etc.
On the otherhand, my HTPC is running Bazzite. Aside from initial HDR issue, it's also been flawless. I know CachyOS is much more lightweight than Bazzite is, and I'm sure there's some performance to gain here and there. But Bazzite to me has been the perfect gaming OS, because I can just pick up my controller and turn the machine on. It goes straight to Steam, I play a few games here and there, I then shut it down, without ever having to utilize a mouse or keyboard.
Before I commit any further, I wanted to just check if Bazzite is the distro to stick with for that kind of application. A machine that just does what it needs to do, I don't need to min max it, I value convenience and stability.
From what I read, CachyOS handheld is not supported for desktops because theres a script in the setup that checks to see whether your device is rog ally, steam deck, etc.
I have an Intel CPU with AMD GPU and just want the most convenient, stable and reliable distro.
And yes, that whole Fedora 32bit Bazzite fiasco gave me a scare for a sec.

The State of HOTAS setups with Proton
After a dozen hours of tinkering, I believe there is some ongoing issue with joystick compatibility with Proton and am reaching out to the wider community for discussion because it has exceeded my skillset.
Goal: Run two VKB Gladiators (premium right stick, omnithrottle left stick) in flight sims on Steam such as Elite Dangerous
Status of sticks: Both are detected perfectly as expected by KDE Plasma on Fedora 42 with the game controller tester. They also work correctly with remappers like input-remapper and AntiMicroX
Various results: Depending on which exact actions below are done, games always see either only the left stick as a dinput device, only the left stick as an xinput device, both sticks as xinput devices, or neither stick entirely.
The best result so far: Using udev rules and manual Wine Control Panel overrides, the right stick is working as expected, but the left stick continues to show as an Xbox controller. What I have tried:
Verifying the sticks work as expected in games on Windows
Disabling Steam Input globally and on a per game basis
Editing the registry to remove xinput from the device IDs on the prefix
(Elite Dangerous specific) Edited game files to include the VKB Gladiator PID/VIDs directly
Creating new udev rules according to the PID/VIDs listed with lsusb
Using the Wine Control Panel within the prefix to manually override the sticks from xinput to dinput. Using the dinput tab key checker, both sticks register all inputs and axes correctly.
One thing I have not specifically tried is updating the firmware. I'm using firmware 2.16.x because beyond this point, the sticks are extremely buggy with their inputs; various physical buttons get mapped to other virtual buttons and most notably several physical buttons all register as the same virtual button. Resetting to stock settings/calibration and related steps do not resolve this issue. Given this occurs with other brands/joysticks in the same manner, I find this to be an unlikely (given one stick works), not to mention unviable (bugs), solution.
Any discussion about potential causes in Proton or solutions would be welcome as this seems to be a very common issue affecting many people based on my searching.

Some time ago I created a small overview regarding gaming on Linux, did I miss anything?
I think it has everything to get people started, thoughts?
A question though: Do you know if any nice solution for modding got released recently? Last time I check it was a hot mess. Trying to gather some infos, so that I do not unnecessarily start from scratch.

New Steam Games Playable on the Steam Deck, with System Shock 2 Remaster - 2025-06-29 Edition
¡No funcionó!

Finally fixed stuttering and freezes with Overwatch 2
I posted issues with OW2 (steam) a month ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/s/ip4ncQM112
and solved it on my current setup so posting if anyone else might find it helpful. Im on Arch and Hyprland, and all I needed to add was to set allow_tearing=true in hyprland config. I get a solid 120 FPS without drops, stutters or any shader precompilation. Seems like a driver issue as vsync shouldnt cause these problems in the first place

Risk of Rain 2 not working (through steam)
I was playing ror2 (risk of rain 2) earlier today, and I left it on. During that time, my pc went into sleep mode. When I came back, ror2 had crashed. Now, whenever I try to launch it, a glitched black screen appears and a lavender box starts flashing (see video).
I have tried restarting steam, restarting my pc, verifying the game files, and uninstalling and installing ror2.
I feel like I should mention that I use Linux Ubuntu and I was using Proton 9.0-4 (I have also tried proton experimental).
Any help is appreciated.

Nvidia Driver/RGB Keyboard Issue
I just switched to Fedora Linux a few days ago. Everything has been going smoothly, but recently I have had a problem. I downloaded the properiatary Nvidia Driver and turned off secure boot to make it work, but for some reason my RGB Keyboard (Which I do not configure with any software and just let it run on its own) did not light up anymore. I am on a MSI Raider GE68 HX 13V, and so openrgb and another software (msi-perkey) failed to work/detect my keyboard. When I reenabled secure boot, my RGB keyboard lit up again. I don't want to use the nouveau driver, but I don't want to have my RGB Keyboard not work. Is there an easy way to get both working?

Issue with Counter-strike source
Every time i open counter-strike source, it disconnects my monitor a couple of times (my main monitor) switches to my second monitor (a hp w1907), then crashes after 10 seconds. I am using Ubuntu 24.04.2.
I am using the compatibility layer on steam for linux. Other games like Garry's mod (assuming that cs-source has similar code to gmod) work correctly. Steam, my monitor software, and counter-strike source is all updated to its newest version.

Black Myth Wukong and Nvidia 5070ti DLSS
Steam has Black Myth Wukong on sale at 20% off. I'm wanting to buy it but running their benchmark tool, I couldn't get the DLSS to work with my Nvidia 5070ti. Is the game playable with out the Nvidia's DLSS or will I have to turn down all the graphics to get it to work? Anyone have any luck with this?

Is a Steam deck + 4070 possible?
So my buddy gifted me his old 4070 after upgrading his GPU and instead of building a new pc around it, I wanted to perhaps make a steam deck based set up around the two. I know nvidia cards didn't really work on steam decks a while ago with m.2 to pcie adapters but has this changed at all? If I could get this to work I might even try to 3d print a case for it to make it a pc in my living room. Any ideas on how something like this could come together or is it not worth it?

Crackling in games using proton
I'm using proton to play windows games on Pop-OS, and I've noticed the sound is crackly and distorted. I've tried checking out pipewire, and I enabled low latency through pipewire, but that hasn't fixed the issue. I've also tried altering launch settings in steam itself, but it hasn't worked either.
Any details needed I will provide.

How can I overclock my Acer Aspire 5750G?
And how can I install new drivers for the GPU? I already installed them, as files, but I don’t know how to install them to the GPU
