Proton games do not recognize T.16000M HOTAS
i7 12700k, 9070xt, Kubuntu 25.04 (launching games via steam)
Any game I launch with proton does not detect my HOTAS. I have tried proton hotfix, experimental, 7.0-6, 10.0-1 beta, and GE 10-4. Problem occurs in all proton games, but not in native linux games (e.g KSP detects the HOTAS fine when launched in linux native). I've tried disabling steam input in Properties > Controller for each game with no change. Here is a proton log for Elite: Dangerous, launching it and going into the controls to confirm the HOTAS is not detected.
Any ideas would be great, if any other information or logs are needed just ask.

Holding keys input is inconsistent on Linux with proton-ge
Right now this is happening with Jedi: Survivor, but I've noticed it's the case with other games too like Battlefront 2 and co. Holding down a key simply is inconsistent, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's especially annoying for Jedi Survivor since you need to hold down buttons to pull certain objects.
I'm on Arch, with Nvidia proprietary drivers on Hyprland. I'm using GE-Proton 10-4, have gamemode and other things enabled.

Found a way to get rid of stutters/frame spikes for Nvidia GeforceNOW (Cloud gaming on Linux Mint)
Theres no GeforceNOW native app, you can only use it through browser, and the most ideal one is google chrome/chromium. Everything seemed fine except I could sense frame spikes every 5 seconds, but when I turned show FPS on, the frame spikes weren't being captured by the frame rate counter, yet they were still occuring. I did everything, got a very specific way to launch chrome with all hardware acceleration settings on. Still kept seeing tiny stutters, and it wasn't my wifi because it was smooth sailing on Windows native app.
However, I found a way to finally get rid of it, don't open GeforceNOW with the "in app" function, just play it through the browser on full screen :3
I can't believe this was the source of all my issues, drove me crazy for weeks 3X Wanted to let others know in case someone might be going through the same thing, smooth linux mint cloud gaming is 100% possible TwT Might not seem like much but millisecond freezes absolutely tanks your performance on games like OW2 or other FPS games

RTX 3060 Ti to RX 9060 16GB for better Linux performance - worth a $200 upgrade?
I recently switched from Windows to Linux for gaming (kept a Win11 partition as backup). Overall it’s going well, but I’ve noticed noticeable FPS drops on certain games, particularly Pacific Drive and The Alters. I’ve been told that DirectX 12 games can be more problematic on Linux. Current setup: RTX 3060 Ti I’m wondering if switching to an AMD RX 9060 16GB would be a good move to improve performance on Linux. By selling my 3060 Ti, the upgrade would cost me around $200. Questions: • Are AMD GPUs really better performers than NVIDIA on Linux? • Is the upgrade worth it for $200 in my case? • Has anyone tested the RX 9060 16GB on Linux? Thanks for your feedback!

How to set two SDL_GAMECONTROLLERCONFIG values?
I'm trying to get a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller with the Xbox layout to work on CachyOS. So far I've gotten either USB or Bluetooth configured properly but I can't have them both configured at the same time.
USB config:
0300bb977e0500000920000010026803140682015c0ce66467eb,Nintendo Switch Pro Controller,platform:Linux,a:b1,b:b0,x:b3,y:b2,back:b4,start:b6,guide:b5,leftshoulder:b9,rightshoulder:b10,leftstick:b7,rightstick:b8,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,rightx:a2,righty:a3,lefttrigger:a4,righttrigger:a5,dpup:b11,dpleft:b13,dpdown:b12,dpright:b14,misc1:b15Bluetooth config:
0500d71f7e0500000920000000006803140682015c0ce66467eb,Nintendo Switch Pro Controller,platform:Linux,a:b1,b:b0,x:b3,y:b2,back:b4,start:b6,guide:b5,leftshoulder:b9,rightshoulder:b10,leftstick:b7,rightstick:b8,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,rightx:a2,righty:a3,lefttrigger:a4,righttrigger:a5,dpup:b11,dpleft:b13,dpdown:b12,dpright:b14,misc1:b15I got the IDs from AntiMicroX. I think they're unique? I checked these SDL_GameControllerDB IDs:
030000007e0500000920000000026803 030000007e0500000920000011810000 050000007e0500000920000001000000 050000007e0500000920000001800000But none of them seem to register. Only the AntiMicroX IDs register and that's only if I'm using one at a time (I can't use both, which is the problem I'm trying to solve). I also noticed both AntiMicroX and some of SDL_GameControllerDB's configs use hat for the dpad (ex: dpdown:h0.4) and those don't seem to register.
I've tried separating configs with semicolons and newlines, tried with and without quotations, nothing seems to work and I'm out of ideas. If anyone has any idea of how I can load two configs, I would really appreciate it.
My preferred way of loading these configs is through /etc/environment.d/sdl-gamecontroller.conf where the file has this line (USB example):
SDL_GAMECONTROLLERCONFIG=0300bb977e0500000920000010026803140682015c0ce66467eb,Nintendo Switch Pro Controller,platform:Linux,a:b1,b:b0,x:b3,y:b2,back:b4,start:b6,guide:b5,leftshoulder:b9,rightshoulder:b10,leftstick:b7,rightstick:b8,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,rightx:a2,righty:a3,lefttrigger:a4,righttrigger:a5,dpup:b11,dpleft:b13,dpdown:b12,dpright:b14,misc1:b15 submitted by /u/RedShadoww[link] [comments]

How do I create a shared images file with Waydroid?
Recently, I got waydroid on my steam deck but a game I enjoy has a feature that requires pictures from the gallery. I tried following the tutorial in the tutorial page but sudo mount --bind <source> ~/.local/share/waydroid/data/media/0/<target> returns a error (Im not sure if I can reveal the error message since my techy friends advised me to refrain from sharing error messages).
Im starting to think the method I used to install waydroid has something to do with this issue but I kind of have minimal knowledge of linux so I dont know how to fix it. Can someone help?
I used this tutorial to install Waydroid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NnjUBPrkX0&t=156s

Counter Strike 2 performance issues
I've been playing a few matches of cs2 on a Ryzen 5 2600 and Rx 570 8gn system with 16gb of memory on cachyos latest drivers and the FPS even on lowest settings seems to fluctuate massively. I'm curious as to whether some launch options would help and if anyone on here would have some recommendations

How to fix xbox controller issues with Celeste
I tried to install mods with my Proton version of Celeste, but Everest didn't support using Proton instead of the native Linux port. I can't use wine to run the windows version of Olympus because i can't install the .net framework using winetricks because i have the 64-bit version of wine. I have to switch to the native linux port, but the xbox controller issues are stopping me. btw, i already tried steam input and that didn't work, and i have xpadneo installed. Also fastfetch image is attached (btw during install i typed pc when i should have typed laptop in the hostname)

Bazzite vs. Kubuntu for experienced Linux user
Hey everyone! I'm finally ditching Windows on my gaming desktop (all my other computing including work and creative stuff has been on Mac for a long time).
I'm an SRE/DevOps Engineer so extremely familiar with Linux and work with it daily.
Tried daily driving Ubuntu with Gnome a few years ago on my desktop, but that was pre-Proton days so never stuck with it (also at the time I was doing photo editing on desktop but I have a better, shinier Macbook for that now).
I run an AMD 5800X with nVidia RTX 3080Ti. Unfortunately, an AMD graphics card not in the cards any time soon, since 7900XTX is sold out except from resellers/scalpers at 2x the price, and the new gen is underwhelming and IMO not worth the upgrade.
So anyway, trying to decide between Kubuntu LTS and Bazzite.
Mostlly leaning towards Kubuntu, but I like the idea of built-in nVidia drivers for Bazzite. What I don't like is that it's based on Fedora (I hate dnf with a passion for no particular reason.. also Red Hat pissed me off with CentOS drama).
I'm also iffy on the sandbox mode - just how sandboxed is it? I don't want it to be sandboxed. But I also don't want to tinker with my daily driver OS, I just want it to work out of the box with minimum hassle.
On the other hand, nVidia drivers on Ubuntu would bork my system each time they would autoupdate, and I'd have to fix from single user mode just to get my system to boot. Is that still the case?
