Disabling AMD Instant Replay on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 13. Juli 2025 - 01:50

Been having issues with draw stutters on a few games and found that it's likely to do with AMD instant replay, is there any way to disable this in linux (mint) given that AMD Adrenalin is not available for linux?

can't get the 2.4ghz dongle for 8bitdo ultimate 2.4ghz to work (ubuntu 25.04)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 13. Juli 2025 - 01:35

i've been trying for the last few hours now to get this controller to connect but nothing seems to work. It will connect to bluetooth just fine, but that's no good because there's no vibration support and the rear paddles don't work. I updated the firmware but that did nothing. I saw on their website it support steamdeck so I tried plugging it into my steamdeck and it didn't do anything on that either.

i'm at a complete loss.

visual glitches on CS2

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 13. Juli 2025 - 00:43

Good evening, I've had this lenovo ideapad for a couple months now, and decided to try CS2 on it (Its the only game i tried). I tried to replicate the glitch on windowed mode to check if i could see it in a screenshot, but the glitch didnt happen on windowed. Could this bencaused by a faulty gpu? some proton bug? Id like some opinions.

potentially important info: - CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS - GPU: Radeon 780M graphics - OS: Ubuntu 24.04 - bug happened on multiple screen resolutions and screen ratios(always fullscreen), but never in native resolution. - glitch appears sometimes when i open the menu or console, not while playing.

Question about Easyeffects

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 22:53

Inside Phasmophobia (which relies on Proton) I have easyeffects_source as my default microphone.

The problem is when I launch the game and talk to other people without changing anything, my microphone doesn't transmit my voice it only produces crackling noises. Only when I open Phasmophobia's settings and re-select Easyeffects as my microphone does it sound normal again to other players.

I know the developers of Easyeffects advise against using Easyeffects directly in other applications

So my question is, what can I do? I'm almost certain this weird crackling issue is caused by some weird Proton initialization issue. How can I set Easyeffects as my default input source without directly using the easyeffects_source? I'm getting really tired of having to change my game settings every single time I launch the game

Any help would be much appreciated!

Is there any fix for this HDR bug in Stalker 2?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 22:42

I'm using a 7900xt/7800x3d. Cachy os running KDE and HDR on my OLED. Stalker 2 has presented as the only game exhibiting this bug. The bug being in highlights such as light bulbs, the color goes to blueish/pink where it should be the brightest. The game does not do this on Windows. Is there possibly a command fix of sorts to fix this? Has anyone else seen this? HDR works as intended everywhere else. Iv tried gamescope and Wayland. Does it in both.

Wired gamepad vibration not working. (Fix)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 22:38

I am posting this because I couldnot find any resource on why my controllers vibration didn't work. This is for anyone else who is looking for it in the future. For some reason my wired gamepads (antesportsGP110) would connect in Android gamepad mode (shown by the top two lights in the indicator LEDs on the conteoller.). You can check it in game controller setting in kde plasma settings. All you have to do is to press and hold the home button (on the controller) for five seconds until the bottom two LEDs light up. Then if you check the settings it will show your controller as xbox controllers instead of android. Now the vibrations should work perfectly.

Pop!OS locks me at 11cps

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 22:09

I've asked chatgpt and looked at all the other posts I've found and none of them have worked for me. I can't click over 11cps with any mouse (i've tested 3) on any application (Minecraft, a cps test, etc.). Does any know how to remove the limit or whatever the problem is? Thanks for your help.

Gamescope on Desktop / Steam - current state?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 22:08

Hey,

I'm curious to know what the current state of Gamescope is when used in a desktop session (nested case) , optionally in combination with Steam. I love Gamescope but I'm getting unsatisfied results lately.

I'm running Fedora 42 KDE Wayland. AMD RDNA3 with Mesa and AMDGPU. I have two 144 HZ VRR displays. Adaptive-Sync is set to Auto in KDE.

I'm having a hard time running games with the expected behavior when using Gamescope without setting the following parameters:

SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 and "--backend sdl" (gamescope parameter). Like so:

SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 gamescope -H 1080 -f -r 90 -o 30 --force-grab-cursor --backend sdl -- %command% (Steam example)

When Gamescope is used without any additional parameters, the wayland backend is automatically (default is auto) being used. I know this because, explicitly setting wayland as backend gives me the same results. Meaning, parameters like -o don't do anything and any hotkeys like meta+f for switching fullscreen don't work. Additionally, the framepace is out of place. Some games don't even start.

Setting backend to sdl helps, like hotkeys are working then but fps are kinda out of place and/or don't respect framelimit/nested-refreshrate setting with -r. It's only, when combined with SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11, that I get the expected behavior. Like, smooth frametimes, fps = nested-refreshrate parameter, -o parameter works as expected and so on. Though, I have to add, I need to set vsync to ON in the game settings, otherwise fps shoot through the roof (as indicated by mangoapp). The Gamescope parameter --framerate-limit doesn't do anything in that case.

More observations:

The Gamescope parameter --adaptive-sync is not needed to get adaptive sync working as it works oob (in my case).

Steam Overlay only works with sdl as backend and SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11. But, keyboard input in Steam Overlay is not recognized, rendering it somehow useless.

---

I'm curious what other people are experiencing and if there are any fixes for the described observations. Perhaps I'm using Gamescope not as intended?

Thanks!

Logitech G25 with Automobilista 2

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 21:39

My OS is able to detect all input through Plasma settings and oversteer, but automobilista 2 doesn't detect any input despite setting the controller to the specific model, Logitech G25. Any ideas? I have new-lg4ff-dkms-git from AUR installed.

I have several doubts with Bazzite. I would appreciate an answer

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 21:33

Hello everyone, soon I am going to build a computer entirely from AMD (cpu and GPU). I have seen Bazzite as a viable option to convert a computer into a console thanks to the "game mod" without losing the advantages and utilities of a PC Now my question is this:

In my country, to get video games on the PC, it is super common to get them pirated or cracked. Will I have compatibility/performance problems when using this software? I have heard that AMD cards are more Linux friendly, is that true? Or should I buy an Nvidia card? Thank you

need some help with proton!!!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 21:27

so i have this game which requires proton to run on linux (i'm on mint, and i'm using a hybrid laptop), however proton (no matter which version, i've tried them all (even ge proton)) will not load the game.

when loading steam through the terminal to view logs, there's this error that appears on boot of the game that sticks out to me:

Adding process 8657 for gameID 2280 Fossilize INFO: Overriding serialization path: "/home/guide/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/shadercache/2280/fozpipelinesv6/steamapprun_pipeline_cache". X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 149 () Minor opcode of failed request: 4 Serial number of failed request: 438 Current serial number in output stream: 444 pid 8580 != 8579, skipping destruction (fork without exec?) Game Recording - game stopped [gameid=2280] Removing process 8657 for gameID 2280

i see the error badmatch - what causes this error?

by the way, opening the .exe file with wine works perfectly fine
i have game recording and steam overlay disabled for this game specifically
it works on neither my gpu (nvidia gtx 1660, yes the drivers are installed correctly) or my integrated graphics (intel blah blah whatever)
again, i have tried every version of proton and none have worked

Found a dumb little browser game that runs perfectly on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 21:21

Lately I’ve been messing around with lightweight browser games just out of boredom, and I was surprised at how well some of them run on Linux without any setup.

I tried one that had simple 3D obstacle movement (nothing fancy), and it ran super smooth straight in Firefox, no Proton, no tweaks, no install. Just loaded instantly and played without issues.

It made me wonder, is it just WebGL doing all the work, or are there frameworks that tend to perform better on Linux-based browsers? Like, are some of these games using raw canvas/WebGL or something like Three.js optimized for low-end hardware?

Also, curious if anyone here has found any other web games that “just work” on Linux. Most old Flash-style games are dead or behind weird paywalls now.

Best graphical card

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 21:18

I want to play to to some games on linux (gta 6 will release)

I want to buy a gpu, but for the same price (220€), I don't know if I should buy a RTX 3060 12 GO or a RX 6700XT

Which one is the best? Is there a better deal, or some other cards for 1080p only for less than 220€? I want them to be future proof

Is it impossible to use Joycon on Arch Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 21:04

The problem is, under mac and Windows both the joycon and Bluetooth dongle work just fine, while on linux the joycon keeps on searching. My PC found it, I connected it, it was connected, but it kept searching and eventually disconnected from my PC.
I tried downgrading to bluez 5.64, installed joycond first then joycond-git, tried changing my kernel to lts, changed my dongle. I really do not want to go to Windows, but man, Linux lets me down this time :(

There is a way to get dxvk async back somehow?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Juli 2025 - 20:58

I know dxvk async is deprecated and the GPL is bazillions times better, but GPL don't help stutter in fallout new Vegas explosions, my game drops to 10fps when explosions occur. DXVK_ASYNC=1 totally fixes it, but mod organizer needs proton 8.0+ to work properly and dxvk_async only exists in proton 7.44. There is a way to get it back in newer proton versions? I heard about dxvk-gplasync but it doesn't work it seen.
