KOTOR 1 only showing black screen after splash screen (Mint 22)
When I launch the game on Steam, the game will show the usual splash screen but the moment I enter the main menu the screen instantly turns black. The audio works fine, the cursor also works and I can click on the buttons in the menu, pretty much the game runs perfectly fine but the only problem is the screen is completely black so I can't see anything.

Intel GPUs on Linux run faster now, and even older cards benefit from the driver work
Steam doesn't download any file
For some reasons steam doesn't download any files, it creates folders but they're all empty, not a single file. Moreover trying to validate all files just tells me that everything is fine even tho literally every file is missing. Same goes with updating my games
I did try clearing m download cache and repairing my library but it didn't fix the issue
Im on NixOS 26.05 with the latest steam version available on the nixpkgs

Most proton games on steam play at 1-2 fps
So no idea what I do wrong here, the hardware is old ok but so are the games.
I try to play games like Defense Grid or NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 or even Flatout Ultimate Carnage that is Deck verified and I barely get any fps.
The system is mint updated, intel i5 3570, 8GB ddt3 ram and a radeon r7 250 1GB
Other games like Silksong and Doom I + II or Trine play just fine (although I think Trine is native).

Can Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 run in a Windows VM?
All my friends want me to play PVZ: GW2 with them and it makes me sad that I can't on Linux :( but I couldn't find info on whether or not the game can run in a Windows virtual machine. Does anyone have experience or guidance on this?

Please help me with the xbox series controller.
Hey, right now I can't use them on Bluetooth (see video). I have xpadneo. Ubuntu 25.10.
This drives me crazy, because on the very same PC, some months ago, with the same issue and controller, I had it working by editing /etc/bluetooth/main.conf or something. I just can't remember what worked, and it's soo annoying.
Any help appreciated, thanks !
PS: I swear I tried every random solution from other posts, with no success.

A little advice please - new to linux gaming
Hello,
I've been stuck on Windows 11 on my latop which is a Lenovo Legion 7i with a 3070ti for some time, and I really don't like it. I've got the chance now to move across wholesale to linux and I'm looking for some advice. I've used Ubuntu server for a long time for development and deployment, so have a good working knowledge of that OS. My question is, I see a lot of posts about using CachyOS as the go to for Linux based gaming but it's based on Arch. Would I see much of a drop in speed / features if I just used Steam via Ubuntu with the proprietary Nvidia drivers rather than trying to learn CachyOS?
Thanks.

GameConqueror - how to find/verify the files are commng from the source (Novice Linux user)
Workin' on then 2nd attempt to make Linux the daily driver. One of the tools I used heavily in single player games was Cheat Engine (Just a memory editor). Now the question is the Linux equivilant. I found a post from 8 years ago, but haven't found a "Yes! This is where it's at, and it's still activly developed/it's stable and has been for X years".
Curious if those in the know could share how we go about doing such.
The (one of) the initial author(s) of this tool appears to be u/12345ieee
As shared in their post: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/76bymx/gameconquerorscanmem_cheat_engines_replacement_on/
Thanks!

A question about PM games
Before anything more i'd like to say that i've checked upon Proton DB for the ratings and it's decent. However i'd like to hear some first hand experiances and i'd like to ask if i can use LMM (Lobotomy Mod Manager) to mod Lobotomy Corp?

Finally got Creativerse to work in Linux, no WINE
After Steam decided to release their latest Proton build (10.0-3), I thought I should test it out on the most Linux resistant game in my Steam library: Creativerse. With other versions of Proton, including Proton GE, it kept seizing up and crashing in the worst way. Now, it runs smoothly with Proton 10.0-3 without a single hiccup. I am currently running a stable Debian distro (trixie).
