Looking to switch to either Bazzite or Steam OS
I was looking at possibly switching from Windows 11 to Linux for gaming. I really don't know much about linux but I found that Bazzite and Steam OS have gained my interest as I like the console inspired interface. Which one is better?

Vesktop experiencing serious graphical problems when other monitors are connected
This has never happened before, and regular discord works perfectly fine. Does anybody know how to fix this, or do I just need to use normal discord?

Wondered if anyone can help me with the Dark Souls series not connecting to servers?
So been trying to play the dark souls games again and none of them seem to connect to the servers, it's not much of an issue for 1&3 but 2 gets stuck in a loop.
When I boot it up it trys to connect to the servers, then says it lost connection and returns to the main menu. I can't get past this screen at all. It gets stuck in a loop of trying to connect, failing and returns to the main menu. No option to load into a game or view the settings.
The only thing that has worked is actually unplugging my ethernet cable, letting it load in offline, then plug it back in. It's not too bad of an issue more an inconvenience but I dont understand why it's happening.
I have tried messing with my ufw firewall to attempt to block the ports (didn't even have it installed when I started), I've tried using older versions of proton (specifically 5.0 and the latest 9.0-4), none seemed to work on any of the games.
I'm running Arch, AMD GPU and mainly use the proton experimental. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or can point to anywhere I can go to try fix it?

Valheim or Conan Exiles for Group Play
My son and I have spent thousands of hours playing ARK and Satisfactory, but it's time for a new game. I would prefer to be able to host the dedicated server on linux, but a windows vm for Conan is grudgingly doable.
To those who have played both, strictly in a LAN, which do you prefer and why?

Balatro looks like a good example of Proton killing native ports
DISCLAIMER: I don't want to say that Proton is bad, or Linux gaming sucks, I just want to highlight things that bother me. And I love Balatro as it is, not intentionally bricking a game with an anti-cheat is enough for me.
I don't need to explain what Balatro is, but I will explain what it's composed of. Balatro is made using Love engine, SDL, luasteam and other stuff that doesn't currently matter.
Love engine, SDL and luasteam all are available for Linux. Love engine games are also very simple to decompile... actually you don't even need to, just do cat $(which love) Balatro.exe > Balatro and you have a native working Balatro build. Balatro using SDL also means you can just give it SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland and it'll natively work on Wayland. But what's about luasteam? Well... See https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1c44w47/comment/kzlc4d7/. Even if you do all that, you'll be missing Steam integration, which means no cloud saves and no achievements. For me it even wiped existing cloud saves, good thing I had a save copy in Waydroid, even though a bit old.
Now the issue. Technically there's no reason to port the game to Linux, at least one can think so. Proton does "everything". Game works? Yup. What else do you need? And it seems like a bunch of people in the community don't even care about a native Linux port, because "It works perfectly with Proton!", every post about native Linux port is filled with this. Ports to MacOS and Android matter, because there's no other way for mortals to run the game there. Linux? Just slap that Steam Deck badge and let Proton handle everything.
Well, I guess who cares if with Proton you can't share your library, if Proton will get Wayland support only god knows when and who knows if it'll be good when it gets it, who cares if Nvidia on Proton is so garbage that even in Balatro I get frame drops from 165 to 40 later in a run (and by frame drops I mean it drops to 40 and stays this way until I quit to main menu and then back to the run), which doesn't happen with my AMD iGPU, who cares about extra steps you have to go through to mod the game with Proton (WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version.dll=n,b" I'm looking at you), who cares if saves are in the ass of Steam library /home/Games/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/2379780/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Balatro/ instead of simply being in ~/.local/share/Balatro. And don't mind the additional 324MiB of data on your disk from the Proton prefix + 1GiB or so from Proton itself. Is it better than not having a game at all? Of course.
I know one game won't remove the need of having 1GiB Proton install (at least for most), but it'll make this goal one step closer... or even a couple steps closer. Like with a social media, the more people use it, the more people will be interested in it. More ported games = more info on porting games = more ported games.
Reminder about the disclaimer, and thanks for reading my thought stream, if you did.

Best Linux distro for gaming without immutable filesystem
As the title says, I want a great distro for gaming, which has Steam Deck's Gaming Mode (Like ChimeraOS or Bazzite), but doesn't have an immutable filesystem like those two system I said does. I want the distro not only for gaming, but also for back/front end development purposes. I installed Bazzite, but the fact the filesystem is immutable makes a painful job installing something like Docker. I know I can use distrobox, but running a virtualization inside a virtualization is kinda nonsense, and I don't know how much that can hurt performance.
I also want to use the OS to run some AI models with ComfyUI/SwarmUI, so performance is a must, and I don't know how distrobox would handle such scenario

DS5 drift Linux only
I’m getting stick drift on the right stick, it’s not the controller as it works fine on windows and on ps5 anyone else have this annoying issue? Im thinking it’s related to joystick wake or the Xbox controller driver conflicting with it.

Unable to install Linux on my Asrock DeskMini X600
I bought this Deskmini to use it as a living room console, so I tried installing gaming linux distros without any success. I tried installing Bazzite, ChimeraOS, Steam OS and they all failed. Even Linux Mint failed. Looks like the only OS this PC accepts is Windows 10/11 , and I don't know why.
Right now I'm using Windows 10, but I wanted to install Linux on it.
On Bazzite I managed to get to the boot screen, but it always gets stuck on the installation process. SteamOS just gets a blank screen. Do I need to change any settings on the BIOS that I'm not aware of?
I tried enabling/disabling secure boot, TPM, UEFI/Legacy, different USB ports, different usb sticks, nothing.
The tech support only said "Make sure those OS from Linux support to install in EUFI mode" lol
SPECS: Asrock DeskMini X600 - Ryzen 5 8600G - 32GB ram DDR5 6400mhz - 2TB WD Black SN770 - BIOS at the latest version 4.10

Breakthroughs in Open Source graphics: End-to-end HDR with upstream technologies, PanVK on a brand-new SoC, and NVK + WebGPU, out of the box
Steaminput is unusable, cannot find anyone having the same issue anywhere
It detects my keyboard's adapter as a controller, it will not detect a wireless Dualsense, and when the Dualsense is plugged in the bindings are all wrong in games. Never had these problems on Debian (had issues but not these) so I'm sure it's an easy fix but I can't find ANYTHING relating to this.
Using Tumbleweed on XFCE btw, yes steam-devices is installed, yes I tried doing a dup

Minecraft server (Forge or fabric, honestly anything really) On the raspberry pi5
So I had been trying to get a minecraft server to run on my raspberry pi 5, but unfortunately I'm not that good with linux. I was perhaps wondering if anyone could teach me how I could possibly do this. I did see that the "Pi-app store" (unofficial) had something that could be what I need but I had too much trouble figuring it out. So in total I kind of just need a tutorial or someone to help?

How to play Half Life Alyx with Quest 3
Hi, got a quest 3 recently and I'm trying to get it working with Linux with no success. I have it connected via Link cable to my PC and have tried with ALVR, WiVRn and SteamVR. The most that happened was with WiVRn where after launching the game, the headset flashed a few times and then showed black screen.
I am using Envision with the 'WiVRn - Envision Default' profile.
SteamVR doesn't even launch.
ALVR is unable to launch SteamVR as well, even with the launch options set to what it recommended.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online with friends
Hello,
Recently me and a friend wanted to play Red Dead 2 Online together only to get hit by "Incompatible Assets" error whenever he tried to join me or I him.
I'm playing on Linux Arch with Lutris since I don't own the steam version of RDR2. He plays on win11 also using the Rockstar Launcher Version, I looked around on the internet but couldn't find anything apart from the startup.meta file "trick". We both confirmed to not have that file in our game folders and also attempted using it with the same password. However, the error persisted.
My and his game work fine, we can both play online and access it's contents without issues. Just not play together.

Help with GPU drivers (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060)
Dear community,
I'm currently having issues with my GPU driver. Please see attached screenshots for system specs and futher details.
When I use the proprietary NVIDIA Driver 550 I'm having buggy sound. It sounds distorted and really annoying in games and also when watching videos. The sound bugs appear no matter if I use HDMI for audio output or dedicated speakers on the 3.5 mm output of my mainboard.
The same when using the 535 driver. When I choose the 470 driver one of the games I tried won't launch due to missing DirectX 11.
The open source driver won't start successfully. It appears to work when I select it. But after the restart when trying gpustat it will show "driver not loaded". Also the games will only run on very low framerates and one game (Transport Fever 2) will state that the game is only running on an integrated GPU and I should select the correct GPU before starting the game.
Please help. I just want stable sound and a working GPU. Nothing fancy. Any ideas what could cause the issue and how I could solve it?

Is it possible to enable steam shader precaching on per game basis?
There are some games in my library that stutter without shader precompilation, but majority of my library does not. I don't want to enable shader precompilation globally because it downloads new shaders every time i start steam, which is annoying and also puts some load on my cpu

This may be a stupid question, but bear with me. How well does coop games work on Linux?
I mean like how likely are they crashing, or have networking issues or things like that?
Some examples: Risk of Rain 2, REPO, Deep Rock Galactic, Synthetik, UNO and sometimes Euro Truck Simulator both with the ingame convoy multiplayer and TruckersMP.

question about Core Control
Hi everyone. ive been running nobara OS for the last 2-3 days.
And core control shows that my gpu is only using like 300 watts where it can take 350watts out of the factory.
its a 7900xtx.
i did like all the unlock core control stuff. i do have full control over the wattage and can also control the fans no problem at all.
clockspeeds also looked fine, just as in windows around 2700mhz on core and 2500mhz on memory. so theres that, but...
somewhere i have read that core control only shows power usage from the ,,actual DIE" and not the total board power?
is that correct? or is there something wrong with my gpu under linux and something isnt working as intended?
when i put the watt on 350 watts in CoreControl my HotSpot temps go up to 95 to a 100 degre celcius. which is kinda weird because in windows i have around 90 degree hotspot with that 350watts of power draw.
so i am assuming core control is only showing me watt usage of the actual die and not the full board power draw, but i am totally not sure what it does and how it does it.
so id better ask before i break something :/
does someone has any information about this, and is there another tool for linux to check the full power draw of the gpu ?
