Tomb Raider: Underworld - on Intel 8250 and UHD620 integrated graphics
AIO game launcher? (Playnite alternative)
I've seen this post, but the only thing that caught my eye was OpenGamepadUI, I installed it and it segfaulted. Since that post maybe there are new projects?
Looking for: Gamepad navigation, theming options, metadata fetching, emulator support (or at least an option to add shell command as game)

Nvidia open drivers
Mobo: B650 Eagle AX
CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
GPU: RTX 4070 TI Super
Distro: OpenSuse Tumbleweed
Kernel: 6.14.4-1-default
Driver Version: 570.144
Hey guys,
due to a very good deal from a friend I switched from AMD to Nvidia (RTX 4070 TI Super). I installed the official Nvidia drivers.
I noticed there are open drivers and official drivers.
Where is the difference?
Is there a preferred one for my GPU?
Is undervolting possible with open drivers?
How would I delete the old drivers and install the open one?
Thanks for all the answers :)

Playing games on Linux
Hello, I want to ask you a question in my mind, does linux generally do more work in the game than windows 11 and how exactly do I play games in linux.If the games I play can be modded in the games I play, I play the game modded to the end, for example games such as skyrim, minecraft, fallout, can I play these games modded in linux?
edit: I play most of the games in pirate

Flickering in games on Wayland and Nvidia
So I have been trying out Linux recently coming from Windows. So far everything has been going alright and games seem to work for the most part, although in some cases the screen starts flickering.
I have googled the issue and all the posts or solutions that I come across seem to suggest that the issue stems from the lack of explicit sync support in Nvidia drivers, which is something that should have been fixed from Nvidia driver 555 and onward.
I am currently running Arch using KDE plasma 6.3.4. I am using Wayland as well with the latest Nvidia proprietary drivers which is 570. So as I understand it explicit sync should be working and this should not be the cause of the flickering.
I can't however seem to figure out what else could be causing this. The games I have tested this on are Binding of Isaac, Elden Ring and Noita. They all start up without the issue but it starts after ~15 minutes.
Are there any other possible causes of the flickering I can try to fix?

DLSS / FSR / Native resolution???
I'm planning to buy a gaming PC. Also planning to stick with Linux (currently have an old Dell Optiplex with A. nVidia 1030 GT playing older games from my steam backlog, so far it is OK). Now my problem is. Should I risk it and go with nVidia, for the DLSS? Or ease my life with an AMD GPU, but have a less polished upscale technology? Or go with an AMD GPU since it is better on the raw performance side, and play in native resolution completely ignoring FSR? At the moment my resolution would be 1080p, but also planning to go 1440p. Since I don't have enough desk space for a monitor bigger than 32", and actually planned only a 27", 4k is not a big deal for me at the moment. Should I bother myself because of the DLSS/FSR, or just skip it and go native? Planning to play Cyberpunk, Witcher 3, Oblivion Remaster and Baldur's Gate 3. And some CoD or BF (strictly the campaigns no multi-player), for fun. What would you suggest and why? Currently using Mint. I like it, but I'm not against a distro that is better for gaming, yet I like the convenience and comfort of Mint.

Arc B580 vs RX 7600xt
I'm aware this has been asked already several times, but given the release of doom the dark ages I did not want to let this chance run away from me. I do play in 1440p so opting for a 4060 is a no-no a priori. My hassle is understanding if the b580 is actually worth buying on Linux 6.14 (Using Nixos with bpfland + cachy kernel) and Mesa 25. I used to own a 6650xt which was giving me pretty good performances, even in RT, but afaik the b580 is better than the 4060 in everything. I would also point out that the b580 drivers are not mature at all but is also have ai upscaling, and given that this is temporary GPU I will change in 1 year or more having a good compromise woulnd't be too bad. One last thing, I own a 9600x, hence the GPU overhead from Intel shouldn't be too hard I hope.

Installing steam games on an external removable drive
Hi, I'm on Linux Mint.
I have an hard disk I use for large files since my ssd (where the OS is installed) lacks of space.
I've tried to install games on the hard disk as I used to on windows, what happens is that when I reboot the pc and open steam initially it says that the game is not installed. So I have to open the file explorer, mount the HDD, open steam settings, go to memory section, select the other drive and only then I can play the game.
As you can see it's a bit tricky. Is there a way to do all those steps automatically?

For the People like me that just could not get Steam running.
Hi there.
I am a relatively new Linux user (Fedora KDE).
For the past two days i have tried everything i could find on any online forum to get Steam to run.
The RPM Fusion version was not opening just crashing and the Flathub version could not use my SSD even tho i changed the owner of the entire hard drive to me instead of root.
Long story short nothing was helping. So i de-installed steam once again and noticed that there where allot of folders still there, that i could not delete.
In the end the problem was fixed by purging my entire SSD and reinstalling Fedora on a clean drive. After that i immediately updated everything restarted and thirst installed the RPM Fusion version of Steam. After trying to start it i got like 10 error messages that something crashed but it started anyways.
I restarded it two more times getting less error messages with every try. THEN i installed the Nvidia drivers.
Now everything works as it should. Maybe there would have been a different way to get the clean istall. But i just figured if someone had the same problem i had for so long i should Post this "solution" somewhere to make their lives a little easyer.

Dark Souls PTDE and II aren't picking up my controller
Hi all, I've been having an issue I can't find anyone else has had; my controller (official Xbox Series controller) works OOTB with everything I've tried it with, EXCEPT the Dark Souls games, which don't respect it at all, it ignores everything except the camera constantly spins. I've tried everything that's possible to try in the Steam input settings, all kinds of command line flags, dsfix, different proton versions, gamescope, so on and so forth. I've also searched high and low, but I can't even find anyone else who's even had this specific issue, let alone a fix for it.
I'm running Plasma (Wayland) on Arch if that helps, but I tried using the X11 session and that doesn't help either. I'm honestly all out of ideas.

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller not working over Bluetooth.
I'm on Linux Mİnt 22.1 with Kernel 6.8. The controller pairs and connects via Bluetooth successfully, but no input is detected in any application. It worked perfectly over USB.
I've tried using joycond, which works as expected with a wired connection, but not with Bluetooth.
I've searched and tried many methods(which apparently also broke the wired connection as it doesn't seem to work if I don't use joycond anymore) mentioned on different websites but nothing helped.
The device shows up as connected, but it sends no input when used. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

PSA: Silent Hill 2 remake does not work if you have both integrated and dedicated GPU
I was not able to play Silent Hill 2 remake. It kept crashing upon launch with this error:
``` X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 149 ()
Minor opcode of failed request: 4
Serial number of failed request: 563
Current serial number in output stream: 577 ```
To fix this issue you need to disable the integrated GPU in the UEFI firmware
uuid instead of normal name
So I'm trying to get WoW installed on fedora.. when the Lutris installer kept timing out. So i restarted to try again.. but now when I go to pick the HDD i want to install onto it gives what I can only assume is a UUID number instead of the normal HDD name that I've always seen before. Does this make a difference? And is there a way to get back to linux showing the HDDs?
Skyrim modding visual artefacts.
Since the oblivion remake came out I got the itch to play Skyrim again and wanted to add some mods. After messing around for a while I got most of what I wanted to work using SteamTinkerLaunch and MO2. The mods themselves are all working but the game is full of artefacts. Most of what’s in the screenshot is not snow.
It got late yesterday so I couldn’t try to fix it for too long but did anyone have similar issues and knows how to fix it? Do I need to change some settings in STL, etc.?
I’m on Ubuntu and use protonGE 27.
