Tried many Proton versions, Assassin's Creed Odyssey always boots to a black window
I've tried Proton 9.0-4, 8.0-5, GE10-4, Experimental, and Hotfix.
Without fail, I get the ACO title card, then a minute or two later, it opens another window that captures my mouse (have to Alt+tab) but is just a black screen.
I left this running overnight (6+ hours) and managed to make it to the health warning, and the Ubisoft animation. I never made it to the title screen.
When do I get to press play?
Edit: I'm on Steam, and here is my system info:
OS: Linux Mint 22.1
KERNEL: 6.8.0-60-generic
CPU: 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13600KF
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
GPU DRIVER: NVIDIA 570.133.07
RAM: 32 GB

Looking for turn-based, multiplayer Linux games that will work on 5+ year old hardware
I have an old linux machine for my daily driver at home. It works great. I'm wondering if there are any good turn-based games (I am an old person) I can play with remote friends, some of whom have health problems, so nothing twitchy. I am laid up in bed with a post-surgical complication for a few days. Thanks.

Deltarune Chapter 3, video cutscene isn't loading, Proton Hotfix didn't help?
I'm new to linux, started using Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS a few months ago. I'm booting the game through Steam using the family library sharing feature.
Tenna's intro fails to play the associated movie file, video or audio. The game does not crash, but it does zoom through the movie's subtitles too fast to read. (I had to be told to youtube the intro, or else I would have thought that the hyperspeed text was just the joke.)
I was given the suggestion to right click the game in my steam library and go to Properties > Compatibility > Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool > Proton Hotfix. This didn't fix it. I tried Proton Hotfix, Experimental, and 10.0-1 Beta.
I was also suggested to install an h.264 codec. This also did not fix it.
Do yall have any other suggestions? This issue is tedious to test since I have to sit through the game takes a long time to boot (might also be a compatibility issue), and I have to sit through the long walk through the cliffs and Ralsei's cutscene every time.
I was going to post this to /r/Deltarune but they have an absurd 5000 karma requirement to post new threads right now...

Will official steam os work fine for me If I only play games and browse the internet?
I know the site said It's only officially supported on Legion Go S, but I've seen a good amount of videos of people running it on desktops. And it looks nice and smooth compared to windows.

battle for middle earth multiplayer linux and windows.
Does anyone here have a solution for playing bfme1 multiplayer with a friend using windows? We tried the all in one launcher and hamachi, which leads to out of sync errors.

Nobara KDE Plasma Support for 9060XT?
Hello everyone, I am kind of familiar (but rather new) on how this works for drivers for AMD. Seemingly the card worked out of the box, and detecting as a different card in settings - and I did not think much of it as the card was working great.
However I was in the middle of a game and the card green screened on me. Temps were fine, nothing maxed out - resulting after investigation that it is most likely a driver issue.
I had a few questions about linux AMD drivers and the 9060XT
A) do the drivers naturally support FSR4
B) is there a 9060 release yet for Nobara? (I looked at AMD website and there is support for ubuntu, RHEL, and servers)
Any input would be helpful, I am looking through forums but there does not seem to be much about the new card yet.

My Dwarven puzzle game now has native linux support!
Hey folks, I recently made a small-ish puzzle game about a Dwarven mine and I finally managed to create a Linux build for it!
It was such a cool and fulfilling challenging making the universal build to work, I love Linux, but sadly for the past years, my career kinda took me away from it a little bit, so being able to pull this off feels great!
The game's first 8 levels can be played for free in the demo and the full game features 26 levels as it is right now, I plan on making a couple of expansions for it!
Check the game out: https://cherrybit.itch.io/mine-cart-operator
Would love to hear your thoughts on it if you play, and if you have any trouble running the game, don't hesitate in reaching out!

K2 HE not utilizing rapid trigger on linux mint & repeated huge visual stutters (not registered by game)
I play the precision platformer Geometry Dash at a fairly high level, and I switched to Linux from Windows out of necessity earlier this month, but since then i have been forced to switch off of my keyboard due to input lag problems, despite it being a verified 1000hz, hall effect keyboard. It has switched off rapid trigger, so that may be the issue I am having. Is there any way to fix it potentially?
Also, since switching to Mint, I have experienced frequent severe stuttering visually, though the recorded FPS ingame stays the same (basically, I'll play on 60 fps, but occasionally it will stutter down to a visual rate of closer to 10-15 fps, though the number displayed by the fps counter will not change). It makes playing games like GD unnecessarily difficult and causes eye strain. Is there a fix for this, as well?

Space Marine 2 memory leak?
Just finished up the game (absolute blast btw), but I observed 3 different times after long sessions, performance would degrade significantly. I saw all 3 times that the the game had allocated around 14.5 gigs of ram, very weird as I know the game doesn't use that much on the regular.
Now unfortunately even though this happened 3 times, I never tried to systematically collect info about what might be going on. All 3 times I played for a considerably long time and all 3 times the game was unbearable slow at the end having allocated 14.5 gigs of ram. Only solution was a complete restart, not even going back to the menu seemed to free the leaking memory.
I searched the net for anything around this but all I found was just general performance talks and nothing specific, even on proton db. So I came to ask here if any of yall have had this happen, or any insight to the problem.
Hardware is Radeon 9070 XT, Ryzen 9700x and 32 gigs of DDR5 ram.
Now I do have a unorthodox setup for the game
CachyOS, proton-cachyOS (native) version 1:10.0.20250605-1, mesa-git Version 25.2.0_devel.206551.00dd0d0dd15-1 with these launch flags, mainly to activate FSR4, courtesy of proton-cachyOS and mesa-git patches:
MANGOHUD=1 DXIL_SPIRV_CONFIG=wmma_fp8_hack FSR4_UPGRADE=1 game-performance %command%
I would suspect the FSR4 hack to be the culprit, but the same certainly doesn't happen with the exact same setup in Horizon Forbidden West.
So, do you guys have had a experience like this, or can any of you offer insight on what might be the issue? Linux problem or game problem?
