camera doesn't work with flatpak version of discord
(USING NOBARA/FEDORA)
if you are wondering why this isnt being posted in discords sub, its because it isnt a discord problem (maybe) the website works, the cam turns on with now black bars and worse quality, but when i turn it on on canary, or even the og, the ui pops up and goes away making a chime noise, and not turning the camera on. ive tried installing the deb, and the tar.gz, but both dont work, commands on deb dont work, and tar.zg idk where to get started and I havent found a single video that helps.
camera works on everything BUT discord according to my knowledge, if this is just an issue of having a flatpak, how do i install the deb? or even the tar.gz

HOW TO FIX WAYLAND (mostly) ON MSI LAPTOPS WITH NVIDIA AND IGPU
If you have dualboot, you need to go to Windows.
Once on Windows, install MSI center
Go to Features > General Settings, and then select Discrete Graphics Mode from the GPU Switch drop-down menu.
In MSI Center, switch your graphics mode from MSHybrid to Discrete. (There will be some things you can't use like Thunderbolt display I think)
Hope this helps some people!
Note: This effectively disables your iGPU until you switch it back to MSHybrid.

Oblivion Remaster: random black screens during play
I just switched over from windows, so I'm kinda new to Linux.
I use Linux Mint and activated proton (steam btw), however during playing I constantly get frequent 1-2 second long blackscreens. After trying out other proton versions, these only happen when I'm ingame and change something, standing still doesnt seem to trigger the black screens.
I had this problem with another game, changing proton version did fix it there though. Everything should be up to date.
Any ideas what could be the cause?

Are there any controllers that ACTUALLY HAVE Linux support?
I've read through some threads about controllers, but it seems like none actually directly support using Linux. I keep seeing the dualsense controller pop up, but I don't see it saying it has actual linux support.

How to enable HDR in Elden Ring?
So I got a new tv with HDR recently. It is hooked up to my system (4070ti, Manjaro)
The HDR option is greyed out.
I don't really know that much about HDR. Can anyone help me get it working or is this a linux issue?
Thanks

7900 XTX only getting about half it's performance on CachyOS (Power-limited?)
Specs:
OS: CachyOS x86_64
Kernel: Linux 6.14.4-2-cachyos
DE: KDE Plasma 6.3.4
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (16) @ 4.97 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX | Mesa-git
Memory: 17.21 GiB / 31.24 GiB (55%
Swap: 7.80 GiB / 31.24 GiB (25%)
I am only using around 170 Watts with dips and occasional jumps
I am also have this issue but it appears to be visual and not actually affect performance. That is what they say in the thread but I don't buy it
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3251
I have LACT installed and I am using the Manual > 3D Applocation profile. I also tried the "Highest Clocks" Profile.
I also manually set the Min/Max GPU clocks based on my GPU Specs
Any suggestions to the power issues and low performance?

Alternatives to Vortex (NOT BETHESDA GAMES!!!)
I am so fucking sick of swapping to linux multiple times every year just to be reminded of the last hurdle in linux gaming: Modding. Im no longer a baby-back bitch who wants to play games vanilla anymore. I've played them all to death, and god knows there is a gaming drought enough as it stands. I wanted to mod KH3 and Cyberpunk, but I don't want to manually install mods, we are humans, we have tools, so why is it that there are so few tools? I understand rejecting convienience, but also, fuck you. I already gave up convienience installing the damn distro. If anyone knows any reliable Vortex alternatives, let me know.

8Bitdo controller
I currently use my 2nd PS5 controller on my Arch PC. Some old games don't work well with it and I was thinking about returning it to my PS5 and geetting an 8Bitdo which I hear is very popular.
I am not sure which I should get the C or 2C, I know the 2C is newer and has additional buttons and faster polling, but doesn't have full support for Windows. Which is the best choice for Linux and potentially my Steam deck while traveling.

Overclocking southern islands gpu?
How can I do this? I have found no GUI app capable of doing it, and i'm trying to follow this guide on the arch wiki (link) but many of the necessary files do not exist, or I get a permission denied warning, even when trying to access them as sudo. While I was reading about this, I read in a reddit thread that vega cards are unsupported from manual overclocking, so I am assuming that southern islands cards might be too.
I am using a laptop with an amd Firepro m4000 running the amdgpu driver on ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Game on Lutris doesn't run unlike Heroic with same Proton-GE version, but if Lutris uses Heroic's generated Wine prefix then game runs flawlessly. Why?
SUPERHOT from Amazon Games is the game that I'm trying to run. I'm aware that there's a native Linux build on Steam, but this is what I have now and also I'm using this as a test bench for trying Lutris out.
On Heroic, all I've done is downloading from Amazon Games through the Heroic client, set the GE-Proton9-27 and launch the game. It gets past the preliminary setup screen and then runs with no apparent issues. Disabling UMU brings no difference.
On Lutris I've downloaded from Amazon Games through the Lutris client then I've downloaded the GE-Proton9-27 runner through ProtonPlus and selected it and then I launched the game: it gets past the preliminary setup screen but when the game executable is launched all i see is a blank screen. The same applies for Bottles with the same runner.

Low FPS for 9070XT under Cachy OS - Issue with Power Supply or drivers?
Hi all,
Today I switched from my nvidia 3080 to the 9070xt. I made a clean new Linux install and I have installed the linux-firmware as well as I have the latest MESA drivers. The issue is with similiar settings on Path of Exile 2 I have barely 140fps where on the 3080 I had around 169. It looks like the 9070xt "only" gets around 219-222 Watt where at 100% utilization it should peak above 300 right? Could this have something to do with the low fps and if yes how to solve it?
This is my systeminfo in case helpful

Can WINE or Proton run programs that partially run in windows command line?
Maybe a weird question, but here's an example and the reason why i'm asking.
I'm trying to run ParallaxGen for Skyrim so i can use PBR textures in the game.
The way the program works on Windows is you open it, the main window shows with options. After you're done configuring, you click on the "start patching" button and that's when what looks like windows command line opens and the program outputs status in it and when it's done you press enter to finish.
Everything up to the command line looking part works on Linux. Whenever i click "start patching" the program crashes.
The programs requirements are installed in the prefix, NET and vcrun. But doesn't work. Crashes when you press start.
Is there something in the prefix i need to add or configure for this to work? I'm not even sure what the reason is for the crash, cold be anything really, not strictly related to this command line part, but since that's the part where it's crashing, it's my only troubleshooting step right now.
Can wine or proton run command line programs? But not "from linux command line" - this is all i've been getting when googling - i'm talking about programs that use windows CMD in some way.
Thanks!

How am i supposed to get Opitscaler running on a forced proton game for DLSS -> FSRframegen only ?
Let me start of with this , the github readme for optiscaler sucks balls , it horrible and unclear and doesnt cover most real use cases.
Im running silverblue and the steam flatpak . The game Deeprock galactic Supports DLSS and FSR upscaling but only DLSS framegen . Now i want to only swop out the framegen for FSR and keep DLSS upscaling.
Now its not clear if i MUST use proton or not , but i was using protonGE anyways . The game launch directory does not contain the upscaling files or framegen files anyways. I followed the instructions and unsuprisingly it does not work , it just disabled my dlss upscaling .
Any pointers at all would be greatly appreciated.

Dualsense Controller Bluetooth Issue
When i connect my Dualsense via cable everything works fine but via Bluetooth i have quite a few issues:
- without SDL patches the controller can't be used outside of steam (with steam input) at all
- randomly the controller doesn't respond to any inputs anymore and "saves" the last used input for example: left thumbstick turned left > keeps going left, after a couple seconds it responds very briefly for a single input just to not respond again
- doesn't matter if Windows via Proton or Linux native version of a game
After some research it seems that the Dualsense takes too much bandwidth? Using a dedicated ASUS USB-BT500 dongle with only a keyboard besides the controller connected.
I installed these udev rules which doesn't make a difference for the Dualsense specifically: https://gitlab.com/fabiscafe/game-devices-udev
Had to switch back to my Dualshock 4 because it works just fine via Bluetooth.
Using Arch 6.14.4 and KDE 6.3.4, thanks for any help!
