Some months ago i ran ZorinOS just checking linux out and it was a pretty good experience, but i built a new PC and after first failure to install linux i just stayed with Windows 10 for a while.

Now that Windows 10 support is ending, i checked out PopOS and my experience has been a bit worse than Zorin, and for gaming it is pretty terrible. Games not only run worse (with games like Hell Let Loose being unplayable, which were very playable on Zorin), but also look worse (except Arma 3, which actually looks a bit better imo).

With that said, was this just an issue with the OS and included AMD drivers? I am not sure whether i should try out some other OS and see if its better or just switch to Windows 11 (with removed teleometry). My primary focus on my PC is gaming and while i like linux when it comes to basic tasks, it annoys me to look around for tutorials for an hour just to play a game. Need some help & advice

hey! i got a new monitor recently and now Minecraft Java keeps trolling me. when it’s in windowed mode, it stays on my main display. when i fullscreen it, the thing moves to the secondary one and i can’t drag it to my main. it happens in both vanilla and modded. i use Nobara GNOME (Fedora based). that also only happened to Minecraft so far

I am quite new to Linux, I use Ubuntu, and I noticed that when I want to play some youtube video in picture in picture mode (on brave browser), it is like a new window, and does not remain on top when I use other windows.
How can I fix it?

Well, now that the game is apparently dying, do y'all think Epic Games will change their minds and allow Linux support just to get more players?

I started to "publicly show" my game about a month ago and I am very happy to announce that my game Paddle Together crossed 5000 wishlists!

The demo is also out, we launched it this Friday and had very critical issues on the weekend (server was constantly crashing so we changed the whole structure) but now everything is fine and I started get positive reviews! (I still have one "lobby" bug, I've been working on it for like 3-4 hours, pretty close to solve it)

Hi, I am a new linux user (begin with steam OS on my deck) and now I have my laptop with Rtx 3060 with bazzite. First days was fantastic but now suddendly in random times the screen begin to turn total black, the strange thing about it is that is not the screen itself, because for example if I have chrome opened, the lower bar with bazzite symbol, chrome, volume etc.. began to disappear and reappear every 2 second and then crash. Leaving me on chrome that is still functional but if I close It I have the entire screen black with only the mouse.
any tips?

I am using Debian 12 with i3wm. I installed Steam, ProtonGE, ProtonTricks, ProtonQT-Up through flatpak. And i installed the MangoHUD and Gamescope also from Flatpak but the runtime/org.freedesktop.Platform.VulkanLayer.<MangoHud/gamescope>/x86_64/25.08 version. Now in steam i installed Cube Escape.Paradox to test it out and in the properties general i put the following command

env MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fsr,fps_value,gamemode" gamemoderun gamescope --mangoapp -w 640 -h 380 -W 1920 -H 1080 -F fsr -f %command%

But then the game is not openning. Even removing the part before gamemoderun still facing the same problem. What to do.

I love my Steam Deck but not crazy about Steam OS. Thinking about putting Fedora on it since that's what I use on desktop and I think it would click better with me since it's what I'm comfortable with/learning on. Has anyone had any particular issues with it? In an idea scenario I'd basically run Fedora on all of my devices, but I want to make sure everything works first. I haven't seen any reports of any issues doing it.

So i installed bazzite, was playing aoe2 de via steam, and uupd pops up saying i haven't updated in a month. which i will do after the game. i try to press the [x]: nope. can't interact with it.

i hit alt+enter. still can't interact with it.

what to do?

Currently bg3 is cheaper on gog but the new port seems worth it paying more so I could get it through steam

Pretty much the title, I have a 4060Ti with CachyOS and want to have the tools to tweak my hardware,or do you recommend any other software?

I have three a triple monitor setup. My center monitor is 35" 3440x1440 UWHD 100hz and my two side monitors are bog standard LG 24" 1080p 60hz.

Whenever I run any test in Phoronix Test Suite it always ends up split between my left side monitor and my center monitor. I would like it to just test on my center monitor. The one I use for gaming.

How do I make this happen? The most relevant thing I can find about it is this old thread from three years ago suggesting it's a bug in Phoronix that makes it run on the leftmost monitor. Has this bug really not been address in 3 years? Is there some way to make Phoronix Test Suite run the tests on my primary monitor?

Have you been able to get video on Linux? For some reason this card refuses to display on Linux for me. Nothing but flickering and color patches when moving the mouse. No issues on Windows. Aorus B550m Pro-P motherboard had the latest BIOS installed.

Maybe a little old but i want to know that, i still dont know if migrating from windows is worth it, obviously, im refering to multiplayer

Hey Everyone, I am super new to linux and am currently trying to mod Fallout New Vegas to play for my wife. But the problem is that I cannot for the life of me to get dotnet40 or 48 to download which is required for mod organizer 2. It will NOT install through protontricks. I have already reinstalled bazzite and tried again and I cannot for the life of me get protontricks to install any dotnet components so I am resorting to WINE. I downloaded it off Bazaar but I really don't know any of the commands and I am having a really hard time finding anything remotely beginner friendly. I hope to get some help here.

Tried Bazzite, crashed and didn't recognize my GPU. Same with POP OS. But Linux Mint just worked after I installed my drivers it just worked.

I could download all the apps I needed, modded my games, and am fully setup on my desktop environment. Loving it so far and thought I'd share my experience with anyone else swapping from Windows.

Where has this been my entire life? I have been getting good output from my Radeon 6600 on Fedora 42 but then I installed Lact today. Now games that were staggering down to 35 gps are now holding steady on the high fifties/sixty gps and all I did was tell it to use the highest clock speeds. Temps and power are still in good range. Can’t recommend Lact enough!

I can provide any extra information if needed. but basically game works fine until the loading screen, I can access all settings before I start the game and get stuck here. I've also pressed cancel (to run teh wine debugger, like it says) and nothing happens. I am using proton 9.0,
