Bazzite is not the Fedora team's responsibility.

26. Juni 2025 - 00:13

Thats just reality. I'm actually shocked to see how the community responded to this whole "Fedora (Maybe) dropping 32bit support" thing.

  1. The first thing to consider is it takes man hours to test and curate everything that goes into a distro. Building and supporting a distro is not free, if they can shed the tech debt without a big negative Impact then they absolutely should.

  2. No, such a shift would not magically break all your games and end the world.

People seem to have not learned that proton isn't the only option when running games in a separate environment.

Valve was very aware that Linux's march forward had already broken games before which is why you can run your game in different "Linux runtimes" so your games don't reply on libs in your system.

Seriously go test them. Everyone told me Civ V was broken on Linux but it isn't if you use the Linux runtime option in the settings.

  3. People have also warned others about using one man show distros for THIS VERY REASON. They are fragile and lag the man power needed to deal with change or large tasks.

Infact the Bazzite dev pointing out that its to much work for him to deal with grabbing and testing all the 32b libs should make it clear why Fedora wants to drop them in the first place. Its a bit insane to get mad that Fedora isn't doing free work for an unaffiliated project.

  4. Steam isn't going to magically disappear, 64b Steam is already on the horizon simply as a matter of fact. How soon is upto Valve but its not going to magically be unusable as you can still grab what you need for Steam.

This isn't meant to jab at anybody, its just reality and if Bazzite fell theres more than enough distros out there to choose from.

If you are capable and have the time then offer your help to the Bazzite dev, just don't bug Fedora about another distro.

G pro x tkl or Hunstman v3 pro tkl

25. Juni 2025 - 23:24

Hi, how are you all doing? I was thinking of buying the Logitech G Pro X TKL or the Razer Huntsman v3 TKL Pro, and I need to know how they support Linux. I know you can control the rapid trigger, SOCD, analog, etc. options to a certain extent, but I'd like to know which of the two has better Linux support.

What Hardware brands to choose for a new gaming PC to achieve maximum Linux compatibility

25. Juni 2025 - 22:43

The title says it, basically. I want to assemble a new gaming PC. Mini-ITX base and watercooled with a custom loop. But it has been a while that I was considering hardware compatibility on Linux and I am pretty sure a lot has changed in the 15 years since then. And please don't say "everything works" - There are just some products that are better on Linux than others, some others are easier, some more are better documented, some allow firmware updates in Linux which others don't, some have native Linux apps while others don't.. So which brands do you recommend concerning:
- CPU
- Graphics card (I realize AMD seems to be better supported, Nvidia has the more performant chips though, so how dire is the situation for current gen graphics gards really? And does the manufacturer matter in any way?)
- Mainboard (drivers would be the big point here I guess)
- Drives
also I would be happy for a tip about which brand to for concerning pump and fan control
I know it is quite a broad topic, but throw in your thoughts, even if it just covers a small part of it. Thanks a bunch :)

Root cause of VKD3D performance regession on NVIDIA has been (probably) found out

25. Juni 2025 - 22:32

Some guy on nvidia developer forum might just found the problem with lower nvidia performance in DX12 games.

Also lower performance in ray tracing on Linux seems to be intended feature, i don't really understand everything but you can read yourself below.

Performance Difference in Cyberpunk 2077

25. Juni 2025 - 22:22

I have a Ryzen 5800X coupled with a Radeon 7900GRE. I’m currently using the latest ZEN kernel with KDE Plasma on Wayland @3440x1440. I’m thinking maybe a configuration problem? On Windows I am seeing 102 average fps in the benchmark but only around 75-85 average fps in Linux through Steam. I am using stock Proton and have tried RADV and amdvlk drivers. Also image quality is not as good. I also notice similar in GTA 5. My expectation for image quality is an unimplemented API in Proton however running under gamescope looks better. Other games run fine and I didn’t think anything of it until I saw that it runs faster on Steam OS and thought to check. Thank you in advance for any feedback!

how to make steam deck move all shaders to the sd card (for a linux beginner)

25. Juni 2025 - 20:40

im surprised that despite having my sd card listed as the primary drive, all shaders and background info is getting spilled into the 64 gig internal. over a week its gone from 44 gigs or so at OOB to having 4 gb full, even after deleting games bc the shaders are deep in weird internal locations and also dont actually say the game name, just the steam app id. i would really like a step by step guide, written by a person, for a person with little to no linux knowledge on how to make this move to my sd card. i tried moving the compatdata folder to the root of my sd but i dont think its actually linked. i heard something about a symlink? i dont know, this is a lot for someone who only moved from mac to windows like 4 months ago, and is now having to learn linux stuff. thank you!

Vulkan is a vital organ of TF2 now

25. Juni 2025 - 20:36

My TF2 won't launch if my Vulkan shaders do not render to 100%. I am not resilient to wait 1 million years for Ubuntu to load the shaders. Is there any solution solution for this?

Got FSR4 Working On A Skyrim Modlist

25. Juni 2025 - 20:06

So if you want the run down of what I did, the modlist I'm using has community shaders. So you can use the free upscaler mod, once you set it up correctly make sure XESS is set in the ini file. After that, setup optiscaler I have a stock game folder so I just set it up in there. And you should be good. You need to be on mesa-git still I think, and you can get both of the required dll's via this:

wget --referer https://support.amd.com https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/amd-software-adrenalin-edition-25.3.2-win10-win11-mar20-rdna.exe 7z e -r amd-software-adrenalin-edition-25.3.2-win10-win11-mar20-rdna.exe amdxcffx64.dll amdxc64.dll

And then you put these two DLL's in your system32 folder, I have mine setup via steam so I would run protontricks -l to get the appid, and find it in my steam compatdata folder. Add this to your launch options: DXIL_SPIRV_CONFIG=wmma_fp8_hack %command%. Launch the game and choose FSR 3.X and profit. I can make a video on this if anyone want's as well.

8BitDo Ultimate 2C doesn't work in GeforceNow

25. Juni 2025 - 20:04

I have 8BitDo Ultimate 2C and i want to play on geforce now, but when i trying to play in chromium, gfn just doesn't see my controller, however in hardwaretester it works ideally. In firefox works everything except triggers (LT and RT). I tried asking chatgpt, but it was just "try downloading steam-devices" and "try reloading it". How can i fix that? I'm using Arch.

Gaming mouse on Mint

25. Juni 2025 - 19:34

Hi, I'm starting to switch over to Linux Mint but am having problems setting up my gaming mouse. I have a Corsair Scimitar that I used iCUE to configure my mouse buttons while on windows.

I've tried various FOSS alternatives but have found nothing that works. Piper doesn't support it, and neither does ckb-next.. I want something with a UI and Profiles to swap through.

After much grief, I've decided to set up a VM to run iCUE and switch my profiles from there, no big deal. However, the software in my VM doesn't detect that I have a Corsair mouse plugged in, unless I enable the device as a USB device. At which point, the iCUE software recognizes it but now I'm unable to move my cursor at all! Neither on the VM nor my host machine. The only way to escape is to use host key shortcuts to close the VM, and sometimes it locks up completely and i have to restart my whole system to try again.

What am I missing with this passthrough?? I can get my keyboard to pass through easily, but not once have I been able to get the mouse to move after enabling it as a USB device.

I've tried adding guest additions and the ext-pack with no luck. Please help before I lose all will to continue.

RX 6600 XT eGPU random crash on linux

25. Juni 2025 - 18:19

Hello,

I have an issue with my RX 6600 XT eGPU crashing randomly (sometimes immediately) on LMDE 6. This Thunderbolt dock works fine on windows but it doesn't work on linux (I had the same issue on Ubuntu).

While looking online for solutions, upgraded my kernel to 6.12 and upgraded Mesa to 25 but I still get the freezing problem. I even tried switching from Xorg to Wayland but it didn't change anything.

The weird thing is that my mouse doesn't freeze only the rest of the desktop.

I am fairly new to linux and completely new to this subreddit.

Output of 'inxi -Gxxx': in the image (I didn't even have time to copy it into reddit that linux crashed)

Thank you for taking your time reading this.
