Minecraft shader compatibility?

15. Oktober 2025 - 02:22

Trying out many different shaders on linux, but most wont load or have graphical issues.
To list a few:
IterationT
IterationRP
Shrimple

My question is; is this just a me issue or something else?
mainly trying to get iterationRP to work as there is a "patch" to make interationT (not RP) work.
https://github.com/IrisShaders/Iris/issues/1030#issuecomment-2399424802
Im assuming something similar can be done to make the "RP" version work but dont have the know how

relevant system info:
Arch (Btw)
9070
Ryzen 5 9600x
OpenGL version: 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 25.3.0-devel (git-943ac08280)

Looking for help getting a PS3/PC Guitar Hero controller to work on Linux PopOS. Controller turns on and connects but is not recognized

15. Oktober 2025 - 01:03

As stated in the title, I am trying to get the following controller to work
https://rhythmgamer.com/products/guitar-hero-controller-pc-wireless-playstation-3-ps3-pc-clone-hero?variant=41148037726252
with no luck. I am using PopOS currently. It turns on and connects to my computer, but the computer doesn't recognize it as a device. I have heard about /etc/bluetooth/input.conf , but I cannot find either the file or where it would be located to create it myself. When I tried using a fork of Bluez, it gave me the error message:

connection failed: br-connectoin-create-socket .

Using the lsusb command gives me this:

Bus 001 Device 026: ID 2563:0506 ShenZhen ShanWan Technology Co., Ltd. GamePad

Grabbed the following with Neofetch:
OS: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS x86_64

Host: G5 5000

Kernel: 6.12.10-76061203-generic

Uptime: 6 hours, 18 mins

Packages: 2547 (dpkg), 253 (flatpak)

Shell: bash 5.1.16

Resolution: 1920x1080

DE: GNOME

WM: Mutter

WM Theme: Pop

heme: Pop-dark [GTK2/3]

Icons: Chicago95 Standard Cursors Bla

Terminal: gnome-terminal

CPU: Intel i9-10900F (20) @ 5.200GHz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER

Memory: 12123MiB / 31865MiB

Any tips or places to look would be appreciated

Sensei I like you so much

15. Oktober 2025 - 00:27

Has anyone managed to get this game working on linux? https://store.steampowered.com/app/2957700/Sensei_I_Like_You_So_Much/

Im running Debian 12 on my laptop with an i5. Should run fine going by the requirements on steam. Also I haven't messed with gaming on linux in years. Would I use PlayonLinux? Proton? Do I still install the game through Steam?

Half sword demo black screen after intro (Linux Mint Cinnamon)

15. Oktober 2025 - 00:27

It used to run fine on windows 11, but now when I open it, it shows the UE5 intro fine, then the screen stays black and it times out with a lowlevelfatal error. Any advise?

I use a laptop, its an Acer Aspire-A315-24PT

Ive tried some simple solutions, such as running it windowed and using -dx11/dx12 to no avail. Otherwise, I'm unsure on how to really tackle this since this game is not the largest.

Compatibility wise it's one "proton hotfix"

Videos about Zordeer

14. Oktober 2025 - 23:40

I made a post here about an app I launched, Zordeer, but without giving many details or showing how it works.

So I made this channel and posted some videos using Zordeer and some of its functions, they are uncut videos.

You don't need to see them to use Zordeer, but I thought it was important to record how it works.

I recorded these videos on Kubuntu 25.10.

The link to the Zordeer repository is this: https://github.com/Kyuyrii/Zordeer

Cyberpunk on Linux with Nvida GPU

14. Oktober 2025 - 23:25

With Microsoft going full spyware with Windows 11 closing the loopholes for local accounts, I am considering Linux. But before I take the idea seriously, I have some concerns.

My PC has an AMD AM4 Ryzen 7 5700X3D with 32GB of memory. I just bought a PNY GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. I'm currently on Windows 10, and I can play Cyberpunk with ray tracing on at mostly high settings, getting 58-60 FPS at 1440p (my current monitor doesn't support 4k). My questions are:

  • I've heard that Nvidia GPUs don't work well with Linux. Drivers take forever to update, and it's only recently that 5070 cards are getting support
  • Games run 20% slower on Linux. I find this unacceptable if true
  • I want ray tracing. I like the pretty. Path tracing slows things and doesn't have the same attraction

If you are currently running Linux, using a 5070 Ti, and playing Cyberpunk with ray tracing at 1440p, please tell me how you like it, what distro you are using, how difficult it was to set up, and what kind of FPS you are seeing

World of Tanks via Steam on Fedora KDE - small cursor size at 4k

14. Oktober 2025 - 22:58

I have installed Fedora KDE, and have World of Tanks running via Steam. Unfortunately, the cursor appears very small. I suspect this is related to using a 4K display - I have it running at 4k resolution but at 200% scale so it looks like 4k. Everything else seems to scale correctly in the game, just not the cursor. I found a possible solution that said to add "XCURSOR_SIZE=32 %command%" in the launch options (although I used 64 instead of 32 as I had a similar issue in World of Warcraft and 64 looked to be right for that) but it doesn't seem to affect the cursor at all. I had the same issue a couple of months ago when I tried using Mint but didn't get a resolution there either.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could try to fix this?

Thanks.

Can't get Battlefront II(or any EA game) to work on Steam! PLS HELP!

14. Oktober 2025 - 22:51

My Dad and I own EA's Star Wars Battlefront II on Steam and plan to move to Linux Mint from Windows 10. He is already on Mint(22.2) with the latest working drivers(I am still on Windows 10 for now) and can't launch the game at all(opens EA app loading window then closes/fails). It's also a problem with Titanfall 2 and likely other EA games. While it is easier to launch EA games on other platforms like Epic I don't want to buy the game again 2 more times(No I'm not gonna pirate it). So if someone could tell me how to get EA games to work on Mint without buying the game again that'd be great. Whether it's Proton, GE-Proton, Lutris, Bottles, WinBoat; I don't care. Please help!

Extra details:
Dad's PC:
....CPU: Intel ??
....GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060 TI
....RAM: 64gb ddr4
My PC:
....CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
....GPU: Nvidia RTX 3080 10gb
....RAM: 128gb ddr4

Fast, replayable 4X space strategy game for Linux in Next Fest

14. Oktober 2025 - 22:16

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share our upcoming game Astro Protocol, a turn-based 4X space strategy game that runs natively on Linux. We’re developing it using open source engine Godot 4 and Linux. Linux has also been one of our main target platforms since the start.

Here’s what you can do in the game:

  • Terraform and colonize planets to expand your empire’s network.
  • Construct stations near asteroid fields, gas giants, and stars to harvest resources.
  • Optimize production by connecting refineries and specialized planets for maximum efficiency.
  • Research randomized tech trees and unlock new ships, stations, and terraforming upgrades.
  • Build and command fleets in one-unit-per-tile tactical combat where positioning matters.
  • Investigate anomalies for randomized events and powerful rewards.

We’ll be part of Steam Next Fest with an updated demo that adds the new Myrmidon Horde faction, available only during the event.

If you play on Linux and enjoy strategy games, we’d love your feedback on performance, compatibility or any topic really.

Which games can I NOT play?

14. Oktober 2025 - 21:47

Yeah... We know most games qork with Steam's Proton layer, but what other games don't work or are really hard to play on Linux (specifically Arch)? Heard about Fortnite and GTA Online, but those are no big deal.

Battlefield 3 from Steam wants to install an anti-cheat on my PC

14. Oktober 2025 - 21:12

I bought Battlefield 3 and tried to run it on my Linux Mint, but it displayed a window that says I need to install PunkBuster. What is it and should I do it? I'm fine with just not playing if it's risky on Linux or whatever.

What is the Mesa equivalent to AMD driver v24.10.1?

14. Oktober 2025 - 20:44

I have exactly those problems in VRChat on lower performing maps and permanent when I open the Steam Overlay in VR:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/1ili75u/index_display_errors_and_consistent_stutter_ingame/
https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/1ib0zu8/index_work_on_120_and_144_hz_but_has/

The recommended driver version is 24.10.1 but since linux has mesa ... I don't know which version that equates to. also I have to run VRChat on Proton9, the problem is even worse on Proton-10-GE

I'm on CachyOS with up-to-date everything. 9070xt, 5800x3d
