Linux game not starting The game starts for a second, enough to get the "play" button to change to "stop" on steam, but no window pops up and then after one or 2 seconds it goes back to "play". I've tried using proton 9.4, proton experimental and even proton GE 27, but neither change the issue nd let me play the game. With proton ge it was looking good but then an small unity window pops up that is loading something and the same stuff happens after the loading bar is completed. Please help i feel like i just about tried everything

Every time when you have Steam Update and you are trying to run it it will just straight up do nothing... ZERO FEEDBACK and oh good, how many times people thought that Steam is crashing or something but it is just UPDATING itself silently without any feedback or window or anything.

And the worst thing is that it happens on the first launch and I saw like 10 YouTubers who had experience like:
"Steam doesn't start but after I clicked it 10 times suddenly it launched..."

It is just so annoying. I would love to at least see a window that tells you to wait a little..,

hi, i m using manjaro kde with x11. i bought a game from gog and tried to play it on lutris. Problem is, it doesnt "render" when it starts. the weird thing is it is the only game that does this. I only be able play the game with gamescope which is annoying because my gamescope cant be fullscreened. i tried proton 9, 10, 6, 8 and proton ge. i tried to open it with steam, i tried to open it with different settings. none of them work and it is so weird because it is the only game that does this as i said. i searched about it online and couldnt find anything really works or atleast i couldnt do it. can anyone help me?

As the title says. Game boots and shows the Koei Tecmo splash, and then it's just a black screen from there. I've tried various versions of both Proton and GE Proton with no luck. I've tried deleting the intro Team Ninja FMV. I've even tried a pirated copy.

I've seen a handful of posts about this, including one from this subreddit near the collection's release, but no fixes have helped me. Most posts are just completely unrelated.

No issues with Razor's Edge.

If needed: I am on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Drivers are Nvidia and 580-ish, whatever the most recent stable build is on their website. RTX 4070, 9800x3d (I bring these up because I didn't use to have this issue on my old hardware).

I'm not on my PC now, so I'll update these (if need be) when I can pull the specifics from something other than memory.

so basically these sus games that I had already installed on my hard drives only work when I add the exe on steam and force the proton GE on them but I still can't figure out how
but not all games work with this method like silksong straight up gives me a note that I have no licenses and it doesn't work
so I wanted to switch to lutris or heroic given that I'd also have a similar experience to my beloved playnite but they just don't manually work
is there a force proton setting that im missing or is there some problems adding them manually
I can't even update my gpu of 6 years to even think that I can buy some games is there a fix to heroic and/or lutris?

Hi i want help with switching from windows to linux. I have some question before switching. These are my laptop spec intel i5 12th gen rtx 3050 16gb ram. I play mostly offline games but sometime i do play online like roblox and lol and valo.

1)i am able to switch without any driver issue? Which OS to use? Am i able to play these games(i also play cracked games so how do i play it in linux)

2)i use ms excel for work so does it work in linux?

Not entirely sure if its a linux problem, but its my only guess. Every time I boot the game it launches into this; I can move around the camera as if its in third person but that's about it. No menu or anything.

Hey, I'm trying to undervolt a used RX 6700XT 12GB, but the problem is I don't know if it's been done before or what... They're supposed to come stock at 1200mV and the clock speed, which I don't really understand, but... when gaming, it doesn't go above 1100mV or 1150, I think. I got into this because when I was gaming, I got a green screen and then the PC restarted, ha ha ha, and I also feel like it gets really hot at the junction temperature, then it reaches the maximum of 110c degrees. The photos show the normal values... Can someone please teach me how to do undervolting and those weird things because when I did undervolting, I set it to -70mV because it's supposed to be 1200 to make it 1130mV, and for the clock speed, I set it to 1300 -1400, but I did a benchmark and the screen turned green again and the PC restarted. I'm on Linux because I play games on Windows and I've never had the green screen happen to me... weird. Anyway, on my distro I had to update the firmware, something caused something or I don't even know what I'm doing...

I'm on Ubuntu 24.04.3, and whenever I click onto a full screen app, both my monitors turn black for a few seconds. Same thing happens when i click out. Any advice?

Basically the title.

I'm currently in the process of migrating my old Windows set up to Linux (Debian & GNOME). After spending a bunch of time getting my pro controller correctly recognized by steam using this guide, I started up Baldur's Gate 3. The controller worked, but I found the rumble to be way too intense and long, and with the frequency it occurred the game was pretty much unplayable.

Has anyone encountered this issue and fixed it? Do you use a pro controller on steam without this issue? I can always turn off game rumble in the steam controller settings, but if that's my only option I'd rather just find another controller that doesn't have this problem.

For Linux users, particularly those running modern Wayland compositor sessions, achieving stable 4:3 stretched resolution in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) can be challenging due to display server conflicts. This command is a widely reported successful solution that bypasses the instability of XWayland in this context.

Launch Command Implementation

To apply this potential fix, add the following command to your CS2 Steam Launch Options:

SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER=wayland %command% Procedure for Stretched Resolution

1. Add the command above to the Steam Launch Options.
2. Start CS2.
3. Navigate to the in-game Video Settings.
4. Select the desired 4:3 Aspect Ratio and a corresponding resolution (e.g., 1280x960).
5. The resolution should then apply correctly and stretch to fill the screen.

Important Limitation (Trade-Off)

This method forces the game to utilize the native Wayland driver, bypassing the XWayland compatibility layer required by the Steam Client.

Consequence: The Steam Overlay (Shift + Tab), Steam FPS Counter, and other Steam-specific integration features will be disabled while the game is running.

I recently wiped windows and switched to fedora 43 kde a few days ago, since then i installed discord as a flatpak but whenever i screenshare it shows fine on my end but anyone who joins sees a full green screen with some artifacts from the original stream (kind of looks like oled burn-in).

i tried the native binary and it worked for one day then it changed to the same issue the next day.

whenever i disable hardware acceleration discord doesn't even launch anymore.

screenshare on google meet works fine so im clueless.

Edit: i'm on a ryzen 5500 and an amd rx 570 4gb with 16gb ddr4 ram, there's no errors or nothing really
