I'm pleasantly surprised with the state of Linux gaming.

07. November 2025 - 04:38

I've been using Linux since Red Hat Linux 5.2. Linux is how I bring in my bread and butter. I've long discounted Linux as a viable gaming OS and just stuck to Windows as the path of least resistance. The TL;DR: is that I ended up wiping an older distro for reasons and installing CachyOS... There's only a single game in my library that doesn't work on Linux and that's Apex Legends (and we all know it works on Linux but EA sucks).

I'm actually annoyed now that I have to boot into Windows to play Apex. I'm trying to find another game to replace it at this point so I could just reclaim my windows partition.

Also, Valve, shout out to all the effort you've gone through to make Linux gaming viable.

Run Powershell scripts on Linux games?

07. November 2025 - 03:44

I want to know if it's possible to run Powershell based scripts on Linux, so I can install mods that use these scripts (in this case Blood Coagulated for Blood Fresh Supply).

P.S.: Game installed with Lutris.

NaK 4.0.0 Release.

07. November 2025 - 03:17

Changelog:

An entire overhaul was done on how prefix creation works. Prefixes are now created here ~/NaK/Prefixes, I am now doing it's a lot easier to manage. You now open the mod managers from the Launch MO2/Vortex file.

A "smart" nxm handler was also made, this way there is only one NXM handler and you can manage it from the NaK app now.

Starting work/support for a new mod manager called Unverum, along with a auto setup for the spore ModAPI manager in the future.

There is now a choice to choose where you NaK files/prefixes get stored, this can be found inside the settings.

Removal of simple game modding tab for right now. I need to overhaul this and make its process a lot more streamlined.

Added a FAQ page.

If you have any questions please let me know!

My friend and I are making a roguelike about running fast and chugging beer, with native Linux support!

07. November 2025 - 01:53

Sup!! My friend and I are making a game called BEERCRUSH where you gotta dash through weird worlds and chug beer to stay alive. It's uh, really strange. It's our first game on Steam and we're launching it on the 20th!! We're super excited!! It's made in Godot, and my friend used Linux throughout the whole process. As such it'll have native Linux support at launch!

Here's the Steam link if anyone is interested: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3912370/BEERCRUSH/

Bug with Genshin launcher window

07. November 2025 - 01:29

I installed Genshin Impact through the official launcher by adding the executable to Steam and everything works fine. The launcher opens and the game runs from it normally. However, the window appears cropped and the cursor is not aligned with where my mouse actually is.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I’m on Arch Linux with KDE.

Telltale games 21:9 issue

06. November 2025 - 22:05

I'm playing the batman telltale game, and it "supports" 21:9 in all the menus but when you get into the game there is blackbars around everything.

I have found this: https://github.com/PhantomGamers/TellTaleWidescreenPatcher

Does anyone know how i would get this to work on CachyOS?

I have the game on steam.

I'd appreciate any help or advice.

Thank you

need help for gaming

06. November 2025 - 21:22

whenever i launch a game, if i dont stay on the tab while its launching, it will not respond and crash. sometimes the crashing happens even when i do stay on the tab sometimes as well, when avoided, the game will litterally crash at another point, the thing is that the games

always crash whatever i do.

this only happens on proton games, specifically, silksong that i stated for proton to force all the game files to be compatible(for my mods that i downloaded) or another game called sandboxels. Some games that are not even on steam, that i downloaded and manually put on lutris or bottles, crash more often

The crashing proccess is basicly the game's graphics stopping, freezed visual but continues music(background music) and the only temporary solution i found is violently abusing the alt-tab shortcut just to move some frames and the force quit or wait selection screen.
i use linux mint cinnamon, also i downloaded gnome and i3 to my pc but i dont use them for gaming, they are just a option for when i use my pc for work.

Unable to run Resident Evil 4 Remake - D3D12CreateDevice Failed.

06. November 2025 - 20:09

I'm using OpenSuse Tumbleweed on the latest nvidia driver, no matter what I do the game doesn't seem to work with my graphics card? Ive tried several proton versions from proton 9-0.4 to GEProton-10.25.

Proton log shows "vkd3d_create_vk_device: Failed to create Vulkan device, vr -3" nothing else seems related.

Setting up Steam for my Dad

06. November 2025 - 20:06

Hi folks,

Sorry if this is the wrong way to go about it but I just had some questions about setting up steam on Linux.

My dad recently retired and as a gift I wanted to get him set up with a steam account where we can gift him games to play. Hes an old gamer who hasnt had time for gaming so I though he might enjoy this. The tricky part is that he is running Linux on his computer and I know nothing about it.

He's pretty good at following instructions but he's not the most tech literate so I was wondering what the best "plug and play" option would be for him? I'll set it up for Kim initially but I'm also an armature when it comes to Linux. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

He's using Linux mint if that helps.

My game Rhombus just released today, a 1st-person puzzle game with non-linear exploration and metroidbrainia elements, and it has native Linux support.

06. November 2025 - 20:02

Hey r/linux_gaming,

I'm Axel, the developer of Rhombus, a compact non-linear 1st person puzzle game built around a unique core mechanic where you build your path by making platforms go up and down by interacting with panels representing these platforms through perspective.

It is about 2-3 hours long and draws inspiration from games such as The Witness (panels), Antichamber and Manifold Garden (visual style) or Leap Year (compact non-linearity). And of course, it has native Linux support.

If it sounds interesting to you, then you can check out Rhombus on Steam.

OS market share over the last 5 years on Steam. Linux is now above 3%.

06. November 2025 - 19:34

As someone that has been using linux for the last 12 years, it was really good to see that the number of linux users on Steam is slowly but steadily growing.

Search: 3D Blender designer.

06. November 2025 - 19:15

Hi Linuxers )

i a m developer of the Ecliptica Game, some time ago my from the team leave 3d designer,

Unfortunately, he can no longer help me with the game. But 3d work is here to stay, and I fundamentally don't want to buy or take ready-made assets; that usually makes games extremely unappealing. So maybe someone would like to participate. The project is a solo-developing and isn't making any money yet, so I'm looking for someone who would just like to contribute.

Maybe someone is interested in this?

Bedrock switch from UWP to GDK

06. November 2025 - 19:05

In the latest Minecraft Update Mojang changed Bedrock to be a GDK game instead of UWP. Does this mean I can now just have it on my steamdeck instead of needing an launcher launcher like the PE one?
