Which budget/used VR for sim and FPS?
Hey, I'm considering playing HL Alyx and going back to Elite Dangerous and I was wondering which VR headset I should get from ebay to run on Linux.

Cant connect to login servers in multiple games
Hello,
Apologies in advance, im very much a linux noob, with moving onto Mint only a month or so ago.
Im running Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit 6.6.7, kernel: 6.17.0-23-generic.
I run all my games on steam using Proton Experimental.
As of today I am cant login to Guildwars2, Elder Scrolls Online, Dota 2, DBD, or DRG, with failures in different stages of the connection process, all saying something alike to "cant connect to the login/dedicated server" (please see screenshots attached).
Confusingly, i am perfectly able to connect to and play Gwent online with no issues.
I have not had issues with this before, and my connection is solid and stable.
I thought it might have been an update, so i tried reverting to a snapshot from a few days ago when i had no issues with the games, but this didnt help.
Ive tried using Proton 11 and Proton Hotfix and it didnt help.
The usual steam tricks of verifying the integrity of game files doesnt help.
Please help <3

We're a small team of 2 (gf & bf) finishing an ice fishing game that will be available on Linux! What do you think?
We've been working on this project for several years now and it is progressing very well. It's a true fishing game, but in a cute animal world and with fictional fish. The atmosphere is chill and cozy, but the fish battles can become quite challenging at times depending on your level of experience, your gear and obviously the size of the fish. The game will be playable on Linux. 😊🐧
Please feel free to give us your first impressions!
If you want to see more of the game, you can find the Steam page here (if interested make sure to Wishlist, since the release is scheduled for November!): https://store.steampowered.com/app/4266710/Ice_Pond_An_Ice_Fishing_Adventure/

Batman Arkham asylum isn't working guys :C
this keeps happening when I try to open the game, I've tried several versions of proton, even went through the hellish process of downloading a GE version of proton, also uninstalled and reinstalled the game but nothing worked. I'm on Ubuntu if the background didn't make it obvious!
I dunno if this is actually a linux problem(it seems like some other linux people have had this problem, but no one has said how to fix it to my knowledge), or even if this is the right place to ask, but if anyone has had the same problem and knows how to fix this, that would be great

Steam unable to login on Ubuntu 26.04 but web login works
I've been trying to puzzle this one out for a bit now. I've disabled ufw, made sure a valid DNS is setup and working. There are no errors when I run steam from a terminal. I've spent hours trying everything I can find online and so far no dice. The client launches just fine without errors but am still unable to login from the client. This is a new install of the client on a new machine.
Any suggestions on what to check next?

Is linux gaming good enough now to drop the win 11 dual boot?
I had some troubles in the past which is why I kept win11 as a dual boot. Currently the drive I did that on is completely fried RIP. So if I want to maintain my windows dual boot I'd need to spend 100-150$. For an OS I don't even want to main. But nervous that something will come up like 6months from now where I need windows and the drives cost even more.
In your honest opinion is gaming linux only good now? Specifically for someone like me who is tech literate enough to install an os and input terminal commands with the help of google or AI but not like a computer science person.

[Gamers Nexus] We Hacked & Overclocked a PS5 to Install Linux and Steam
Days Gone on Linux
Imperative to fix high pilling rate issue
High polling rate mice + game with lots of mice movement and clicks; would overwhelm system causing sputtering and insane frame drops when moving mouse.
After I fixed that - totally transformed the experience. For me

GPU-T v0.2.0 is out with full NVIDIA support!
Hi everyone!
Almost exactly 3 months ago, I posted here announcing GPU-T - an open-source project aiming to bring a "GPU-Z" level of convenience and hardware monitoring to the Linux desktop.
First, I want to say a massive THANK YOU. I was genuinely blown away by the reception. I never expected the project to resonate with so many of you, and that incredible community interest motivated me to pour a lot more late nights into this codebase than I originally planned.
So, without further ado, I am happy to present GPU-T v0.2.0. With this release, GPU-T takes a massive step closer to its Windows counterpart. Alongside the existing AMD features, GPU-T now fully supports NVIDIA graphics cards!
What's new for NVIDIA users:
- Detailed hardware specification lookups
- Real-time sensor readouts and logging
- Advanced information detection (CUDA tech, NVENC capabilities, etc.)
How to get it: You can grab the source code or the pre-compiled AppImage over on the GPU-T GitHub page.
What's next for GPU-T?
- Immediate bug fixes: My primary focus over the next few weeks will be squashing any bugs that arise from this initial NVIDIA rollout.
- Quality of life: Pushing some smaller updates to polish the UI and ensure a smoother overall user experience.
- Intel GPU support: This is the next major milestone on the official GPU-T roadmap. I don't currently have an Intel Arc GPU in my test bench, and building hardware diagnostic tools is always easier when you have the physical silicon in front of you. I'm currently looking into picking one up so I can build this out properly!
Thank you all once again for testing the app, reporting bugs, and supporting the project. I hope you find the new update useful!

Wayland HDR (and probably native Wayland itself) not working on Crimson Desert Bazzite
Hello,
I am trying to run Crimson Desert on Bazzite 44 (fresh install), but I didn't manage to get HDR working. I added the usual two steam commands to the executable (proton Wayland and HDR = 1) , but the in game HDR option is greyed out. Even with gamescope HDR command it doesn't work. The only way to enable it is by using DXVK_HDR =1, but then the HDR is completely broken. This last command also works without the previous two, which makes me think the game is running with XWayland. Any way to check that? And how can I make it work? I tried different proton versions, but only hotfix and experimental (maybe also proton 10) are working. With proton GE 10.34 the game immediately crashes.
I have a 4090, and the bazzite build is up to date (and fresh installed just a week ago).

Looking for feedback on my Grand Strategy UI: Managing 1 to 100+ cities
Hi everyone, I’d like to ask for your opinion on the UI of my game, Orbis. It’s a Grand Strategy game.
I need to design the UI to be able to manage an empire of several hundred cities, while still allowing for easy control when the player only has one or a few.
What do you think of my approach? You can see in the video that the cities have dozens of settings you can modify directly from their panel and there is a "Manager" that allows you to quickly see and assign settings to all owned cities.
I think the idea is pretty good for avoiding micromanagement, but please tell me everything that could be improved in the implementation.

I don't get why people have problems running windows games
From my personal experience, I haven't really had any issues with Windows games on Linux with Wine 11. However, Winetweaks has helped a lot and followed a few guides. Personally, Heroic is amazing, and WineZGui is brilliant.
