I'm trying to play Terraria, and when I join worlds there's usually a lag spike initially, and when the game dips below 10 fps the audio just cuts out entirely. I want this to stop happening.

The ONLY real issue I've had with Linux is rebinding side buttons on mice. I've tried: Piper, Solaar, and Input Remapper. I've tried a Corsair mouse, a Razer Naga mouse and a Logitech mouse. The above software only ever "sees" a couple of buttons.

I was able to get 3 side buttons working on my old Razer Naga mouse, and it just DIED😭. I stole my hubby's Razer Naga and tried rebinding the side buttons with Input Remapper and that programme doesnt see the buttons. I ran xinput to try to ping the side buttons and the side buttons just aren't being read.

My hubby probably wants his mouse back so I did a little bit of research on a new mouse. Does anyone here have any experience with this mouse? Redragon M908 RGB mouse.

And please tell me I'll be able to BIND THESE KEYS!!!

Basically the title, my gpu is extremely under utilized in some games under kde, some games work worse and others better, the screenshot is taken from re9, in some areas it runs under 30%, in other it suddenly goes to 90%~, when I play helldivers 2 the gpu utilization is all over the place, mostly under 50%.

This is not a bottleneck since I don't have this issue on xfce4, this is also not an x11/wayland's fault since I've had the same results with both, I have an amd gpu and an intel cpu if that's relevant.

So obviously the game company would have to choose to use this, but why isn't there (or is there and I'm unaware) a kernel level anti cheat tech built into the kernel already that game companies could choose to use for Linux. Then not only would you not have to install something from some other random company that has full system access, but also there would be an easy option for devs to use to support Linux players. And if it was fully open source it could also be used by Windows so even with no action from the devs a proton translated game would work, or am I way off with that? Kinda like the Vulkan of anti cheat, everything supports it so everyone knows no matter what they choose to run it on, it's there!

Windows 11 is getting almost too heavy to fuss with anymore, but it's a lot of work to install a distro and a bunch of software just to find all the little ways my hardware doesn't work with drivers and games. My primary at the moment is an ASUS ProArt px13.

Is there an efficient way to test how well a distro will work with my games on my device?

When I get prompt to wait for Vulkan Shaders, no matter the game, it runs like shit. If I skip the shaders, I have stable fps, the game runs perfectly.

Helldivers 2 here for example, I have 45-20fps when I wait for the Shaders to load, but if I skip them, I get my normal 144fps.

What's the point of Vulkan Shaders if they make my games running worse?

Hi everyone. I cannot launch any RE Engine game (Resident Evil 2, Resident evil 4 Remake, Exoprimal, etc) with HDR. Yes, HDR is turned on in my monitor settings. I'm using the latest version of KDE plasma in a Wayland session. Other games I've tried with HDR (Doom Dark Ages) work without issue, and I don't even have to set flags for them. I've tried everything so far, including running the game in Gamescope (I've only ever gotten specific games to work on Gamescope). I have an Nvidia 3080ti on the latest drivers. I can provide additional hardware info if needed. I've tried with Proton Experimental, ProtonGE20-32, as well as latest version of CachyOSProton.

These are my launch options for Resident Evil 4 remake:

PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 DXVK_HDR=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 %command%

When I click in game to switch HDR on, the game says "make sure your monitor is HDR compatible. My monitor flashes the HDR on flag in the top right corner when I launch the game, so I know it's enabled on the monitor and the OS, something has to be going on on the translation layer with Proton? Any advice?

Hey everyone,

I was having issues with my Xbox One S controller on Linux (fresh Nobara install). The controller wasn’t working properly in Steam games, and I couldn’t get it to connect over Bluetooth. Hoping to fix this, I updated the controller’s firmware on Windows.

Now, when I connect it via USB, the controller is recognized by the OS and Steam. I can navigate the Steam interface, but it still doesn’t work in games. The input isn’t registered at all. Bluetooth also still doesn’t work: the controller doesn’t appear in the taskbar Bluetooth menu. My phone can connect without any problem, so the controller itself is fine. xpadneo is installed correctly and Nobara itself states it shouldn't be a problem on their website, so the driver shouldn’t be the issue.

It seems like the firmware update didn’t fix anything and might have complicated the situation. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues, or does anyone know a way to get an Xbox One S controller fully working in Games on Linux after attempting a firmware update?

Not sure if this is the subreddit for it b7t I'll ask anyways. 😏

I recently switched to NixOS and have been looking for a controller that would work with it (or Linux in general). I am considering these two options: 1. 8BitDo Ultimate 2 2. FlyDigi Vader 5 Pro

From what I've read online, the Ultimate 2 has decent support for Linux but I really dont like the ergonomics. The Vader 5 Pro on the other hand checks all my boxes but it seems that Linux support is very lacking.

Can anyone help me decide? Is there some other controller I should consider?

I’ve recently downloaded Linux Mint and tried playing geometry dash on it. It has a lot of problems, like the quality looking pixelated, skipping, and smearing. It doesn’t do this in my windows drive, and I can’t find any fixes. I’m new to this whole thing so help would be appreciated

So I was all great using Lutris for my windows EXEs but I recently found out some of it is vibe coded, and I don't like vibe coding! Plus, it seems like there are just better alternatives. I heard of "faugus" and "portproton". Can somebody recommend a good game launcher pretty please? Thanks in advance.

I saw someone proposing adding per-point V/F curve editing to LACT using undocumented NvAPI. The provided code mostly worked, though I had to correct some strides and offsets for the structs to get it running smoothly.

So, I coded up a more robust backend and a web GUI to do MSI Afterburner-style curve editing. Been testing the undervolting curve on my RTX 5090, and it seems to be working pretty well ( image 1)

Though, there doesn't seem to be a massive power draw difference (even though idle clock is way lower) compared to a LACT "pseudo-undervolt" using a global offset (image 3), at least for my GPU.

hi guys i manged to run devil may cry 5 with fsr4 on the steam deck using REFramework mod and optiscaler mod then i tried something out i tweaked the config file from dx12 to dx11 and booted the game on desktop mode . optiscaler and reframwork stopped working but i noticed something shocking !

the game looked 500% better on desktop after dx11 tweak .
based on the build ingame upscalling option only no fsr no dlss the difference ia so huge it looked like a different game .

i went back to gaming mode with the same settings and it went back to waterdown version of itself with somewhat blurry textures .

what causing this phenomenon ? and how do i trick the game to render on gaming mode like it does on desktop mode ?
