Constant problems with mouse stuttering when gaming on linux
About a month or so ago I jumped ships to try and get a good grasp of linux while avoiding windows with my best efforts. Before jumping ships I had a double boot with pop os so I could play games on windows and all the other stuff on linux.
Now that I am only on pop os (I really don't want to go back to windows hell). I am finding a lot of trouble in regards to gaming. I can boot every game I want (currently been trying to play dayz and csgo) but I always find a problem that I can't ignore: mouse stuttering.
It is horrendous, I can be having the greatest frame rate (120-200 fps) and suddenly when moving my camera there are lapses of time when my whole game stutters tremendously. I am relatively new here so I don't know how to troubleshoot this problem but it is really making me go nuts.
The problem is happening with a wireless mouse (GLab Kult Xenon) and on my laptop with the following specs:
OS: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS x86_64
Host: 82K2 IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6
Kernel: 6.9.3-76060903-generic
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon Graphics (12) @ 4.280GHz
GPU: AMD ATI 05:00.0 Cezanne
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Mobile
All help is appreciated! Thank you very much for reading me

PCVR with quest 2 is quite a good experience (ALVR/Wivrn)
So I've being toying with VR and linux and so far ALVR and Wivrn with envision to set it up have given me a really good experience. Especially Wivrn for games like SkyrimVr, Lethal company and beatsaber.
I just wanted to let people that might not think is posible know that as of today the process of setting VR with quest on linux is much simpler than before. For both ALVR and Envision/Wivrn I used the appimages they provide. (ALVR has a launcher now that makes life really easy)
I'm very new to all of this so I might get things wrong but fo future reference I also wanted to give a few tips that I learned along the way.
First I only use an USB cable because I don't mind it and prefer the visual clarity and stability it provides.
Setting in both software H.264 with 500mb/s and a resolution of 4288 and 72Hz works really good for 99% of the games I tested on and 6700xt and a 7600x (Remember to use the Virtual Reality Power profile using something like coreCtrl)
For Alvr setting Maximum buffering to 1 frame and prediction to 1.75 helped in my case for the perceived latency specially the controller tracking. Note that as far as I know lowering this settings that much for a non wired connection might be a bad experience but I think that just changing prediction to 2 frames should work really well on tracking the controllers.
For Envision/Wivrn I was a bit confused on how the encoder works given that you could use multiples encoders at the same time. On the Linux VR Adventures Discord they kindly explained to me how it worked and I hope I got it right. The thing is that although they provide two presets by default that you can use It's possible to select it manually and select one or many encoders. Using multiple encoders reduce total latency. In my case just for testing I used a single H.264 encoder with the same 500mb/s and it feels really good especially for beatsaber.
A few notes that Wivrn uses OpenXR and can give a little boost in performance and as on my experience is more stable. On the other hand there is a few games that refuses to work or have controller issues like HLAlyx or Xplane11.
Last thing I wanted to mention is that in the case of xplane11 steamvr version 2.8.6 broke it and crash upon start that I could solve just by selecting the previous version of steamVr in the beta branchs. And that If using ALVR after using Wivrn SteamVR will show a popup saying something like Openxr is not set, just click in the option to add it and it works again.
Sorry for the long post but I'm really exited that this solutions are evolving as fast as they are and that I can enjoy VR on linux.

ProtonUp-Qt won't launch on Tumbleweed
Had been using this for a long time installed as a Flatpak from Flathub... went to update something today and it just won't open at all. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no change. When run from the terminal it shows this and just hangs until CTRL-C
acejavelin@BlazingIcicle:~> flatpak run net.davidotek.pupgui2
bwrap: Can't get type of source /.gvfs: Permission denied
I am guessing this is a permissions error, but gvfs is Gnome's userspace virtual filesystem and I am using KDE Plasma... This worked fine before ( a month or two ago I guess) but I am guessing this had something to do with Flatpak update complaining about old, deprecated flatpak Gnome and KDE dependencies and removing them because they don't show up in my Flatpak list anymore.

What exactly do some Linux gaming fans expect? Windows is simply much better supported on PCMR type hardware. There'd be little problem with that crow running Linux primarily if it were reversed. The reason some many spend this kind of money is for the...
This stuff costs a lot of money. I simply want what I pay for, no different than anyone else, even in this sub.
So, if I gamer wants nVidia cards and VR and headsets and HDR monitor we're just supposed to not to use these things?

How to select wine/proton version from ProtonUP-QT ? What version is the best for most games ?
There are 8 variants:
- Wine-GE
- Kron4ek Wine-Builds Vanilla
- Lutris-Wine
- vkd3d-lutris
- vkd3d-proton
- Wine Tkg (Valve Wine Bleeding Edge)
- DXVK
- DXVK Async
I'm using Lutris with Heroic (for some games). What is the best to choose ? (I have installed proton-GE-bin too)
OS: Arch Liux 6.114-arch1-1 x86_64
Thanks !
P.s.: I have tried Wine-GE v7.25 for RDR 2, but it didn't help :<

Explain why the apex-legends ban can't be bypassed
After hearing about the new apex-legends ban I wonder how this ban is implemented and if it can't be bypassed.
If you open up the game now it displays that the EAC anticheat could not connect to the backend from that I assume that the only thing stopping you is that the game doesn't allow the use of the linux native EAC - if so, can't one just fake emulate the actual EAC?
If that can't be done I assume there is a simple if statement somewhere in the binary that just checks if EAC passed or not. - can't one just dissasamble and make that if statement never run?

Adding Ea app as a none steam game
HI, I have been running the Sims 4 through steam since I switched to linux earlier this year, however I've been having issues with dlc I own through Ea. To try and fix the issue I intend to run the Ea app via proton as lutrix didn't work when I tried to set it up.
I have downloaded the Ea app through the website and have run the installer with proton, my question is how to add the actual app as a non-steam game, it is installed as steam_app_0 in the compatdata folder but what specific file do I need to use to launch the app. Thanks
Using pop os 22.04

What's tipe of support proton supported games have?
Hi guys, in these day i discovered that Apex legends have lost Linux support though proton (sad me), but then a question appeared in my mind. What support Apex Legends devs gave to Linux? For what I know is proton that allow game built for Windows to run on Linux, so what's the support that Apex Legends had? If the support it was only don't adding a kernel level anti-cheat or other that can break the compatibility or don't block the already using anti-cheat is more maintain the compatibility than support the game.
Don't take me wrong, i really appreciate when a company say "we don't treat Linux gamer as thrash" but i was curious to know if there is a active way to really support game on proton (without developing wine/proton ecc themself) for companies. And what of support (ex-support) of Apex Legend we are talking about (if i search more on internet the result is only that they are removing support for Linux)

Need help Running Baldur's Gate 3 on linux (Debian)
I'm having an issue running Baldur's Gate 3 on linux, every time I click play in Steam I get the following popup:
Clicking "yes" takes me to download a Windows .exe which of course can't run on linux. I manually installed the .NET runtime following linux instructions here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/install/linux-debian but the game still gives me this error.
Other things I've tried:
- Reinstalling BG3
- Completely deleting every file from steamapps/common for BG3 & reinstalling
- Reinstalling Proton
- Using Proton Experimental, 9, 8, 7
On protondb everybody else seems to be running the game fine, but I don't understand how to get past this error.

Can't use two wiimotes at once.
Both wiimotes work fine on their own, but if I have one controller bonded, I'm unable to connect to the other.
The same issue comes up on void linux and arch linux.
One controller is regular and the other is wii motion plus, but both connect fine on their own.

Anti cheat module?
I ve watched a video about why ,supposedly, apex removed support because there were workaround to cheat because the anti cheat ran at user level and the cheat at kernel level. Why valve wouldn't make a kernel module that runs EACs at kernel levels (EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T SECURE). Closed or open this would open A HUGE VARIETY OF ANTICHEAT GAMES eventually. Am i wrong?
