The game C.A.R.S.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 20:45

Sorry if this is not allowed here.

Has anyone been able to get the game C.A.R.S. running? I have tried Heroic Launcher as well as Lutris, with no luck.

Bazzite—Elite 2 paddles aren’t working?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 20:28

I installed Bazzite and my Xbox elite 2 controller is detected fine, works fine except for the paddles. They’re detected and I can assign buttons, but they do nothing. Switching from the “no lights” default profile does let the controller do axby as paddles but not be configured by steam input like I can in windows. Using Bluetooth, controller is updated.

HDR makes Indiana Jones unplayable on Linux (1 FPS + flashing)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 19:31

Hello,

I'm having an issue enabling HDR in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Linux.

When I add this launch option in Steam:

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 %command%

HDR does enable, but the game becomes completely unplayable:

  • the screen keeps flashing
  • the game runs at 1 FPS

If I remove the HDR launch option, the game runs perfectly and performance is almost identical to Windows.

What’s strange is that HDR works fine in other games with the same setup:

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • Cyberpunk 2077

So the problem seems specific to Indiana Jones.

System:

  • GPU: RTX 4090
  • Driver: NVIDIA 595.45.04
  • HDR monitor
  • HDR enabled in desktop display settings
  • Wayland session

Has anyone managed to get HDR working in this game on Linux?

Thanks!

Without the commend.

With the command.

DRM-Free Steam Games on Heroic using Proton: Outdated Vulkan Driver on Heroic but games still work on Steam

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 19:30

Disclaimer: Yes I know I could just play these games on Steam or buy them on GOG but I'm interested in DRM-Free games and want to expand my computer knowledge.

I am trying to run a handful of Steam Games that happen to be DRM-free using Heroic (as in not involving Steam beyond the initial download). I am on Ubuntu.

So far Linux native games are running successfully (except Bastion but that's another post's problem). However Windows-only games requiring Proton are not. The hangup seems to be that my GPU driver is too out of date and does not support an extension called VK_KHR_maintenance5.

Now I can select a driver new enough to support this but it's not a tested version of the driver (probably because my GPU is an old and trusty 1060). I'm fine with trying to update the driver if it's my only option, though my understanding is that untested drivers might cause other issues.

What I want to know is why Steam can run all these games using Proton but Heroic can't. Is Steam doing some other step to avoid this requirement and is it possible to do the same on Heroic? If I can figure this out, the games should work (or at least I'll get to the next error).

Possibilities:

  • Using Heroic's Steam Runtime option or not doesn't change anything, but I'm leaving it on as it seems to help everything else run.

  • This seems to be a DXVK requirement specifically so perhaps the "Auto Install/Update DXVK-NVAPI on Prefix" option selected by default on Heroic is part of the issue.

  • I see in Heroic's settings there an option to turn on "Allow using Valve Proton builds to run games" so maybe there's a difference between Valve's Proton and others.

  • In case it had to do with more modern Proton builds, I downloaded on older Proton version that claims full functionality for one of the games on ProtonDB and tried running it using that. No luck.

Thank you.

A Magpie-like AI upscaler for any window on GNU/Linux (X11)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 19:02

Started working on this a few days ago. It's an open-source, real-time upscaler CLI tool that uses CuNNy neural networks to upscale any X11 window and to present it in fullscreen, like Gamescope does.

Mouse clicks and motion are automatically forwarded to the original window, so it feels native.

It's installable via pipx.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you try it on your own games, visual novels and other media.

All Out on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 18:35

The game doesn't have Linux support yet, and no one I know attempted to run it, so I ran the installer on wine and attempted to run the game exe it on both wine and proton. Doing this redirects you back to the website.

WTF?? How else can I run this game until someone makes a project like sober?

Unable to enable HDR & FSR4 in Resident Evil: Requiem (CachyOS)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 17:51

Hey all,

Recently starting working on the migration away from Microslop products and landed on CachyOS. Loving everything, but I'm lacking features in some games.

DE: Gnome

GPU: 9070 XT

CPU: 9950x3d

My monitors support HDR, and it is turned on in Gnome's HDR settings

All of these settings worked fine in my windows partition

I am unable to enable HDR or FSR4 in Requiem. However, I am able to enable them in Cyberpunk2077, and Dynasty Warriors: Origins (I have another problem there)

These are my launch commands:

`PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 PROTON_FSR4_INDICATOR=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 game-performance mangohud %command%`

The HDR toggle is available, but the options are "Auto" and "Off". When I set it to "Auto", it says it's using SDR & the colors it selects are SDR.

Under FSR settings, I cannot select FSR4. When I launch the game, I do not get the FSR4 watermark, indicating that I am in fact not getting FSR4.

I have tried multiple versions of proton:

- The proton-cachyos that comes with it

- the latest version in of proton-cachyos via `protonup-qt` (both the v4 and non-versioned version)

- the latest version of Proton-GE via `protonup-qt`

- Proton 10.0-4

- Proton Experimental

I have deleted the `compatdata/` file for the game, recreating the indexes

Everything is up to date

My mesa version is >= 26

I suspected there was a firewall problem in downloading the `.dll` so I even disabled my firewall with `sudo ufw disable` temporarily

I uninstalled & reinstalled the game

As I mentioned previously, I am able to enable these features with other games AND the watermark is present in them to confirm. I use the same launch arguments for those games.

I have seen plenty of posts about it "just works" for others. It works on my steam deck & windows partition, but not linux.

For some additional context, whether it's important or not, I started with Cosmic as my DE, but then installed KDE Plasma for HDR, ultimately replacing it with Gnome. Just in case something funny with my DE configs might be conflicting, idk.

I'm out of ideas. Is there some logs I can look for that might indicate that it failed to download the dll or something? I'm at a loss and I really don't want to boot into Windows to game..

On another note (less important at this time): Whenever I enable FSR FG for Dynasty Warriors, the game crashes.. Any thoughts here?

Installing Steam on EndevourOS with GTX950

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 17:11

Hello, I have installed EndevourOS on my desktop and it works really good with

nvidia-580xx-utils-580.142-1

However, when I tried to Install Steam, I got this option

nvidia-utils-590.48.01-4 and nvidia-580xx-utils-580.142-1 are in conflict (nvidia-libgl). Remove nvidia-580xx-utils? [y/N]

and said Y my graphics broak down. I have managed to revert that, but I am still without Steam. As far as I can see my options are:

  1. Return to Windows/Dual boot (I would try to avoid)
  2. Upgrade GPU (also not the option at the moment)

Basically I would like to know if there is a way for me to install Steam on my current configuration/OS? If not is there a Linux (preferably Arch based) distribution where I could install it? If neither what is the 'lowest' AMD gpu that would work for me? Thank you in advance.

I've made my Clevo-based laptop function completely without tuxedo-drivers/tuxedo keyboard in Linux, is anyone interested?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 16:36

At the beginning i had to use the tuxedo-keyboard package (which includes tuxedo drivers), or the NovaCustom fork, to make the following functions work on my Clevo based laptop (Thunderobot R15):

1) Unlock GPU full power (locked at base power limit without tuxedo drivers installed)

2) Control fans and fan curves

3) Control keyboard backlight with the Fn keys and software

After tinkering with it for a few weeks to figure out what are the AMI/ACPI calls that trigger the different functions, i created a complete package that doesn't rely on tuxedo drivers at all.

The project was greatly assisted by Claude AI, which for some reason gets a lot of hate, which is why i haven't created a git page yet. The end result is a clean, readable, commented code, that is fully functional, so not sure why anyone would have any issue with that other than the automatic stigma.

I can create a git page where you can review all the code and try it, and hopefully contribute and make it even better, i don't know what other models it is compatible with, my laptop is based on the Clevo V350SNQ chassis which i believe is also shared with a few Gigabyte and Colorful models among others.

I also made a tool to control my CPU, let me know if that can be useful to anyone:

Help with repacks on linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. März 2026 - 16:24

Hey guys, I recently downloaded the resident evil hd remaster from dodi repacks to play on my Arch Linux machine, I tried installing it with lutris and also bottles but when launching it keeps getting stuck in the Capcom logo and displays a black screen after. I know this may not be the best place to post this, but I would really appreciate any help or advice. Thanks.
