PULS v0.4.0 Released - A Rust-based detailed system monitoring and editing dashboard on TUI
Games crashing and unsure how to troubleshoot.
Hello everyone! I've been having an issue with Valheim and Marvel Rivals crashing randomly. Sometimes it's immediate and sometimes it's after playing Valheim/MR for 2+ hours...
I'm currenlty using Bazzite v43 but the problem persists in CachyOS and just Arch (I distro hopped thinking it could solve the issue but also out of pure interest).
Here are my hardware specs:
- Ryzen 7 9700X 3.8GHz
- Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AM5
- Crucial Pro 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM
- Powercolor Reaper RX 9070XT 16GB
- MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850W 80+ Gold
Things I've tried:
- Tried changing the different Proton layer version in Steam and ProtonPlus to Proton-GE Latest, GE-Proton10-27, Proton Experimental, Proton Hotfix, and Proton 10.0-3
- For Marvel Rivals, I've used added this to the arguments: SteamDeck=1 PROTON_LOG=1 %command%. I've also used other arguments found on ProtonDB like game-performance %command%
- I have also added the proton log argument to Valheim. I do have both proton logs, for MR/Valheim, but I'm not sure how to parse through the information effeciently. Just searching up the errors in the logs seems to just dig further into issues that I'm unable to determine if they are relevant
- The only setting in BIOS I have changed was Secure Boot to Disabled and turned on the XMP 1 profile
Thoughts/Other Issues:
- After some research, I've noticed some people are pointing fingers towards their 9070 XT as the issue. But how can I determine if my GPU is the issue? Example reddit post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1pmfwyl/my_rx_9070_xt_crashed_my_entire_pc_in_cyberpunk/
- For Marvel Rivals, while loading the shaders whenever you first install the game/clear your shaders cache, the game would crash with an Assertion Failed Error: https://imgur.com/OyzqztE
- Another MR crash image but the Unreal Engine crash window: https://imgur.com/a4oAFYo
- For Valheim, the crash would just be immediate or my whole PC would crash and I would have to hard resest using the power button. Last time this happened, I just had a green screen and was unable to do anything with my mouse/keyboard
Before I built this PC, I was messing with Arch Linux on my old PC for 1-2 months out of pure interest. I used ML4W dot files and simply just used a youtube tutorial. This old PC built using a NVIDIA 2060 GPU/Ryzen 7 1700 CPU and I still played both Valheim and MR without issue. After building my new PC and reinstalling Arch w/ ML4W dotfiles is where I started encountering this issue. I wouldn't say I'm a complete noob at linux, but I definitely don't know enough. BUT I'm extremely open to learning.. I just may have taken a bigger bite than I can chew...
TLDR: I have no idea what I'm doing or how to approach this issue even after some research... Can someone help point me in the right direction?

lsfg-vk runs, but framerate remains unchanged
I recently got Lossless Scaling since it was on sale for the steam winter sale, and I saw that lsfg-vk is out so you can run it on Linux now. I went with the stable 1.0 version and was able to get it working on The Finals. I had to use launcher options though, it just wouldn't do anything if I tried only selecting the process from the configuration GUI. Made sure it was pointed to the correct location for Lossless.dll as well. In game, I would limit my FPS to 60, so on 2X mode it should be rendering at 120, but mangohud, the steam fps performance overlay, and also the feel of the game were all still at 60fps. I could tell it was running though because especially on performance mode on lsfg-vk, I could see ghosting on the crosshair that isn't present when it's disabled. I also tried running it with other games, but just can't get it to actually increase my framerate. Tried with the pre-release 2.0 version as well and couldn't get that to even find the game process at all. Anyone have ideas what's going on, or what I am doing wrong?

How can I run performance benchmarks under Game Mode?
Hi, sorry if I'm making some mistake in this question, I've been looking everywhere and I can't find an accurate answer.
I have MangoHUD configured, and have successfully run benchmarks with csv outputs in desktop mode. However, when I switch to game mode, I can't get it to run. I only get Steam's performance overlay which, as far as I understand, uses MangoHUD under the hood but configured differently. So I need to either get the "normal" MangoHUD to load correctly under game mode, or find some way to get Steam's implementation to log the stats I want into a csv. How do I do this?
