A new Playtest 20261011 for OpenRA is now available for download.
The Dune 2000 campaign is now complete, plus QuickSave, smarter AI bots and a move to .NET 10 with aarch64 AppImages for Linux.
We present release candidate Playtest 20261011. A massive thank you to everyone who took part in the previous playtests - your reports were critical in helping us track down and resolve game-breaking issues!
This follow-up playtest is larger than usual, bringing a wealth of gameplay content alongside the usual bug fixes. Highlights for this release include:
- The entire Dune 2000 campaign is finally complete! Added a massive batch of missing missions for Atreides and Ordos. With such an amount of new single-player content, we are relying on you to playtest these missions so we can nail the balance and pacing before the release. Alongside this, we’ve integrated the community-led balance overhaul for skirmish and multiplayer modes.
- Single-Player QoL & Red Alert Updates: Overhauled the game save and load interfaces, complete with a new QuickSave hotkey. We’ve also made plenty of changes to the Red Alert campaign, including difficulty adjustments and event fixes to various missions.
- Multiplayer & UI Tweaks: Map previews now show team numbers, and the lobby features new options to hide map previews and spawns. We’ve added a hotkey to disable the game UI and fixed replay stuttering at maximum speed.
- Smarter AI: AI bots have received a plethora of upgrades, including smarter base expansion, better defense placement, and fixed aircraft rearming logic.
- Critical Fixes: Fixed Attack Move ignoring unit target preferences, resolved visual fuzziness when zoomed out on low-DPI displays, and fixed other crashes.
- Tech Upgrades: Moved the engine to .NET 10, adding native support for Windows on ARM and aarch64 AppImages for Linux users.
If you find any critical issues don’t forget to share your feedback with us on our forum, community Discord server, or GitHub. Good luck on the battlefield, Commanders!
