BeamNG.drive has been released in version 0.40.4 on Steam.
BeamNG.drive is a realistic vehicle simulation with soft-body physics, in which vehicles deform in detail during crashes.
The update brings numerous vehicle fixes, a default controller configuration for the Thrustmaster T150 and three Linux fixes (virtual keyboard, monitor selection on X11, HDR too bright on KDE Plasma).
Vehicles
- Cherrier Percheron: Fixed missing splitter switch on the manual transmission, brake and clutch pedals clipping into the floor, and mesh behavior on the front airbag suspension
- Ibishu Pessima (1988): Fixed an issue where breaking the rear door seals would create holes in the roof and strut towers
- Ibishu BX-Series: Fixed the emissive textures and models on fixed headlights so they work properly with low and high beams again
- Hirochi Sunburst: Fixed rear hillclimb diffuser getting in a fight with the driver and passenger seats
- Cherrier Vivace and Soliad Wendover: Fixed passenger positioning in their seats
- License plates: Fixed plates not updating correctly when the design is changed and rendering to correctly use the sRGB profile
Gameplay
- Split-screen: All game mode vehicles are properly reset now, added an option for each player to choose a character face
- Fixed leftover ghost objects potentially wrecking your vehicle during (or after) playing rally loops, career tutorials, and freeroam delivery missions
- Drag racing: Fixed a brief stutter when crossing the finish line, just before the time appears on the timeslip
Career Mode
- Fixed a game freeze that could happen when installing certain parts
- Added a potential fix for broken vehicle part conditions that can prevent the save from loading
Input & Force Feedback
- Added a default configuration for the Thrustmaster T150 Racing Wheel on PS5 and PC
- Fixed an issue in the oscillation detection system which could sometimes cause a force feedback wheel to steer by itself to the right
- Reduced default force feedback strength of Thrustmaster wheels by 25%
- Fixed the clutch disengaging by itself during a recovery, even if the pedal was still pressed down
Game Engine
- Fixed rare crashes during lengthy startup times, such as those caused by SSD storage with anomalously low read/write performance
Vehicle AI & Traffic
- Fixed 4-way stop deadlock caused by falsely yielding to cars queued behind at a turning road
Virtual Reality
- Fixed ghosting, washed-out images, missing lights, excessive brightness when entering VR, ignored upscaler settings, and a crash
- Reduced VRAM use by another 100MB when using the traditional user interface rendering
Replay
- Fixed a memory leak when jumping back and forth (1MB of memory was lost per 3 seeks)
- Fixed tire skidding sounds missing, or coming from only one wheel (applies to newly recorded replays only)
Linux
- Fixed text input logic in the virtual keyboard and similar cases
- Fixed the BeamNG window forgetting which monitor to start on when using X11
- Fixed HDR being too bright on KDE Plasma
