Arctis Sound Manager has been released in version 1.4.28.

A few days after version 1.4.27, which added support for the Arctis 5 (2018), this update brings a software ChatMix bar on the Channels page that balances Chat against Game, Media and Aux and follows the headset’s ChatMix dial in real time. There is also a new Master card for the headset’s physical output, now driven by the hardware volume wheel. Fixed among other things: the Arctis 7 (2019) dongle dropped off the USB bus about once a minute, and the GUI crashed on Ubuntu when pacman was installed but unresponsive.

Added

• A software ChatMix bar on the Channels page. It balances Chat against whichever of Game, Media and Aux you include, follows the headset’s own ChatMix dial in real time, and has one compact checkbox per channel underneath it in place of the old per-card “Include in ChatMix” rows. Game can now be left out of the mix too. (#269)
• A Master card for the headset’s own physical output. The hardware volume wheel now drives it instead of the system default sink, which may be an unrelated device pinned to Output. (#269)
• “Redirect audio on connect” can now send the system default to Game or Chat instead of always Media, for users whose default was already the Arctis’ own output. (#273)

Fixed

• The Arctis 7 (2019) dongle dropped off the USB bus about once a minute while ASM was running. The status poll sent its battery and ChatMix requests back to back; every command frame now honours the profile’s time_between_commands_ms gap, not just the init sequence. (#271)
• A headset that answers no command at all (every write timing out) is now reset over USB automatically, instead of staying dead through reinstalls and daemon restarts. The first reset after boot was also being skipped. (#272)
• The GUI crashed at startup on Ubuntu when pacman was installed but never answered during install-method detection. A hung package manager is now treated as absent. (#274)
• Streams moved to Aux played into a dead end until the output device was changed by hand: the watchdog never linked the Aux EQ output. (#209)
• ASM no longer forces a card profile back when the headset’s analog sink is already present under another valid profile.
• The redirect-on-connect channel setting showed its raw key instead of a label. (#273)
