Arctis Sound Manager: version 1.4.27 released

Arctis Sound Manager has been released in version 1.4.27.

Following version 1.4.26, this update adds support for the SteelSeries Arctis 5 (2018) with the full mixer (Game/Chat channels, Sonar EQ, HeSuVi), but without battery, ANC or sidetone controls since the headset has no vendor protocol. The Equalizer tab also gets its own output device picker for Game, Chat, Media and Aux. Fixed among other things: the Nova Pro base station volume dial was read but never applied, and releases had been silently failing to reach the PPA since v1.4.25.

Added

  • The Equalizer tab now has its own output-device picker for Game, Chat, Media and Aux, next to the EQ it already lets you tune — the same place the Output channel’s own picker already was. The “send this channel elsewhere” combo that used to live on the Channels page is retired for all five cards. (#262)
  • The Channels page’s Aux add/remove button is now a “Channels ▾” menu with a checkbox per channel that can be shown or hidden: Aux (unchanged) and Output, a purely cosmetic toggle since Output isn’t a channel the daemon creates or tears down. (#262)
  • Support for the SteelSeries Arctis 5 (2018). This headset has no vendor command protocol at all — SteelSeries’ own specification confirms its one HID interface is a standard Consumer Control page, not a vendor one — so there’s no battery, ANC or sidetone to control, but the full mixer (Game/Chat channels, Sonar EQ, HeSuVi) now works, since none of that needs the HID conversation. (#266)

Fixed

  • The ChatMix “Include in ChatMix” checkbox row on Media/Aux pushed everything below it down relative to Game/Chat, which never got that row at all — the row now stays in every card’s layout at a fixed height, only the checkbox itself is hidden where it doesn’t apply. (#264)
  • The station volume dial (Nova Pro’s DAC master wheel) was read from HID status but never applied to any PipeWire sink, and the shared scaling helper flipped direction on inverted ranges, cancelling out its own fix — both confirmed against real Nova Pro Wireless hardware. Contributed by @AnimeKittyFang. (#255)
  • Releases were silently failing to reach the PPA since v1.4.25. The CI job signed uploads with whichever GPG key gpg happened to list first out of more than one in the signing secret — not always the one registered on Launchpad — so dput reported success while Launchpad rejected the package downstream, with nothing surfacing the gap. The workflow now pins the exact registered fingerprint and fails loudly if it’s missing. (#263)
