Machine Party: couch co-op arrives with update v2.0

Machine Party has received update v2.0 on Steam, adding the long-announced couch co-op mode.

Up to 4 controllers can be connected, and one player can use keyboard and mouse instead - so a group of four only needs 3 controllers. Locally, the Original, Custom, and Arcade modes are all available. Several simulations, such as Minefield, Chisel Gauntlet, and Duck Hunt, have been specifically adapted for split-screen play.

Couch co-op To access couch co-op: connect up to 4 controllers, navigate to Local in the menu, and select either Original, Custom, or Arcade. Once you’re in the lobby screen, press any button on one of the controllers to join. One player can also be on keyboard & mouse, so for a group of 4, you only need 3 controllers!

Changelog Online

  • Infected players in Inside Job (including the syringe person) are now slightly faster (1.15x the normal speed), instead of being the same speed as hiding players.

Local

  • Lobby functionality has been adjusted: joined players have to input their name and select cosmetics before being able to ready up. A countdown of 5 seconds begins once all players have readied up.
  • All players return to the lobby with their names and customization settings intact once a game ends.
  • Minefield: the camera now follows players based on the distance between all players.
  • Chisel Gauntlet: the camera switches between one screen or split screen depending on whether the jumbotron is being viewed.
  • Duck Hunt: the screen is split in half between runners and hunter; the camera has been placed farther away for runners.
  • Inside Job and The Filter now work in split screen.
  • Firearm Factory: the required ingredient for gun assembly is now visible on the workbenches for all players.

The game has also crossed 1,000,000 copies sold.
