The free open-source flight simulator FlightGear has been updated to version 2024.1.6, bringing new features and several bug fixes.

Features

• Community URL in Aircraft Metadata - Aircraft metadata can now include a community URL field, enabling better connections to aircraft-specific communities.
• Runway Length in Airports Dialog - The in-sim airports dialog now displays runway length in meters.

Bug Fixes

• Carrier Deck Position List - Resolved an issue preventing the launcher from properly populating the carrier deck position list.
• Qt 6.11 Compatibility - Fixed a critical launcher startup failure when using Qt version 6.11.
• Nasal Directory Selection - Corrected a crash when selecting an empty directory in Nasal.
• Wayland OpenGL Detection - Improved OpenGL detection for Wayland display servers.
• TCAS/GPWS Audio Handling - Fixed an error when aircraft configurations lacked TCAS or GPWS sound files.

Miscellaneous

• CMake Build Optimization - New ENABLE_CCACHE option (defaults to OFF) to speed up subsequent builds using ccache.
