We’re changing the endpoint for retrieving bulk user reviews for your game in order to provide a more reliable service. If you have been using the store endpoint to retrieve user reviews for your game, you’ll need to update your bookmarks and/or tools by October 22 to avoid disruption.

What is changing We are deprecating the ability to retrieve user review information from the store endpoint (i.e. https://store.steampowered.com/appreviews/<appid>?json=1). On October 22 this existing method will be disabled and no longer available for use.

Instead, you can utilize the new WebAPI endpoint, similar to many of the other services that Steamworks provides: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/webapi/IUserReviewsService#GetAppReviews This method should basically return the same data, though you will have to change how you set up your http request to pass in the WebAPI key associated with your game. You can visit the WebAPI page for more information on how to set up your requests.

Migration tips To help you identify the differences in data output and format, we’ve written a short migration guide here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/webapi/IUserReviewsService#migrating

About user reviews API Launched in 2017, the User Reviews API has provided a way for game developers to easily get a set of user reviews for their game. With the set of reviews obtained this way, it can be easier to run analysis across the reviews to get more nuance and trends from the feedback that players are providing. Moving this endpoint off the store domain and on to the partner domain allows us to avoid slowdowns when the store is under heavy load, and allows us to raise the limit for how frequently developers can make this call.

Similarly, Steamworks has endpoints for obtaining financial and wishlist data for your games: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/webapi/IPartnerFinancialsService
