UNDERVOLT with LACT
I'm trying to use LACT to undervolt the GPU of my Notebook, an Nvidia RTX 3070. How can I do that in practice? I've always used MSI Afterburner on Windows.

Apparent N-Key rollover issue when playing with DS4 controller in Hollow Knight?
I can't move(d pad) and dash(right trigger) at the same time. If I were to use the joystick, I can't move and attack at the same time.
I checked a hardware tester, it seems to register multiple buttons being press simultaneously just fine. I tried another PS4 controller, didn't work. I do only have one micro-USB cable I can find atm, so I guess it could be the cable, but then wouldn't the hardware tester not work?
I'm on Pop!OS if that matters.

Help with 5.1 audio from Bazzite PC to Sonos Beam Gen.1 via Samsung ARC
Hi everyone,
I’m struggling to get proper 5.1 sound from my Bazzite PC to my Sonos Beam Gen.1 through my Samsung MU8009 TV (HDMI ARC). I hope someone here has experience with a similar setup.
My setup: • PC: Bazzite (Fedora Atomic / SteamOS-like) • Connected via HDMI → Samsung MU8009 → HDMI ARC → Sonos Beam Gen.1 • Sonos Beam: Gen.1 (can only do DTS Neo 2:5 or Dolby Digital 5.1) • TV: Samsung MU8009, HDMI ARC mode
What I’ve tried: • Checked HDMI output formats (pactl list sinks) → sees pcm, ac3-iec61937, dts-iec61937 • Set HDMI output to Digital Surround 5.1 in pavucontrol • Tried creating an AC3 virtual sink (module-encode-ac3) → failed • Tested content → Beam only shows in Bitstream PCR or DTS Neo 2:5, never true 5.1 AC3
Problem as I see it: • Beam Gen.1 can only handle Dolby Digital 5.1 over ARC • Even when Bazzite sends AC3, the Samsung TV seems to decode or downmix, so the Beam never sees full 5.1 • PipeWire / PulseAudio tricks don’t seem to help
What I want: • True 5.1 Dolby Digital from PC games or movies to the Beam
Questions: • Has anyone actually got real 5.1 AC3 passthrough to a Sonos Beam Gen.1 via HDMI ARC from Linux? • Are there workarounds to bypass the TV downmixing, or is this just a hardware limitation? • Would an AVR or eARC setup be necessary to get proper 5.1?
Any advice or tips would be really appreciated!
Thanks!

Borderlands 4 - FSR Frame gen on Nvidia cards
Has anyone had any luck enabling frame gen using FSR with an Nvidia card?
I have a 3090 and wanted to enable FSR frame gen to squeeze out a few more frames (3000 doesnt support dlss frame gen).
When enabling frame gen, I get these terrible artifacts like you're constantly walking through a swam of flies.
I tested this with both Bazzite and Cachyos (Cachy seemed to be a little better but I was at a different location so perhaps it was related to fog??)

Distro recommendations
Hello, I'm planning on switching to Linux and I was wondering which distros would you recommend? I'm planning to use it almost exclusively for gaming with some software development. I have used Fedora, Ubuntu and Mint (Mint is my favorite) in the past and I'm not allergic to tweaking stuff but would prefer to have everything working from the get go.

Flickering black bars when streaming on discord when using GNOME?
Title. I did some digging/troubleshooting and found it is a GNOME-specific issue. Switched to KDE Plasma and stopped having the issue when using the same distro and discord package.
That being said, I prefer GNOME to Plasma, so if anyone has a solution to fix it on gnome I would greatly appreciate it.

official bsnes for arch?
im currently running arch linux and i want a standalone snes emulator, however the most updated standalone release of bsnes in the AUR is bsnes-hd, which is missing some functionality for wireless controllers. i do not want retroarch, i have very few emulated consoles and i have no need for a single frontend, i would like to be able to have each emulator appear as a separate entry in my applications menu.
the package that pulls from the bsnes-emu official bsnes git repo (bsnes-qt5) is outdated more than bsnes-hd by a couple months. however i cannot seem to find a way to compile the version from the git repo, this is important as i dont want a portable copy floating around my home directory, it should be installed like any other program.
deos anyone know a way to get the latest bsnes from git installed on arch? im at a loss here

GTA Online + FSL possible?
I'm trying to switch to linux permanently, and I know that itas not possible to play GTAO because of the anticheat being kernel level.
I was wondering if with FSL that lets you save progression on your PC if its possible to play it, since it wouldn't require the anticheat (i guess).
Thanks in advance for anything.
EDIT: I dont know if this is the right place for this question but idk whereelse ask.

PCi express Linux compatibility?
I'm a total noob when it comes to hardware, well I have basic knowledge about CPU and GPU but that's all. I'm about to upgrade my laptop with an ASUS TUF and finally make the switch to Linux. It has an RTX 4060 GPU and Ryzen 7 7435HS CPU, which is great. What I'm not sure about is that it says it has 1To data storage SSD in "PCi-Express" and as I haven't found this anywhere else I was asking myself if it could cause a problem with Linux (when installing / using maybe)?
Again I have next to zero knowledge in this so I apologize if the question is trivial. If the answer is "no problem" I will hop o' this really good offer and finally upgrade my laptop and abandon Windows! On the other case I'll find another model.
Thank you for your time.

EA app is broken as F or is it just me
Hello everyone, is this just me ?? I can't get any EA games to work but specifically I'm trying to run Jedi survivor on steam. Easy right? Click play ? Uhhhh... how do you like this 'gameplay'?
"preparing game..."
"the servers took too long to do their server thing"
So I tried Lutris, Bottles, and Heroic. I read on protondb, maybe you need to link your EA account to steam (it already is), or have the EA app logged in on your PC before the bundled EA launcher will work (because logged out due to inactivity). Okay let's try that...
Queue 16 hours of...
wine-staging 10.6 and 10.8
proton-ge 9-27, 10-3, 10-4, 10-15
wine-ge 8-26
proton 9.0-4, 8.0-5
soda 9.0-1
it doesn't seem to matter. In steam, it always fails to connect to servers. In the other apps, it says "background services crashed" and asks me to update. It then does one of three things:
- EA app is already up to date - exiting (then it just repeats in a loop, asking me to update)
- It DOES update, and then it tries to start EA app, and it hangs forever
- New one (happened one time) it DOES update, then it says "update failed to stage" and it loops asking me to update again.
I tried recreating the prefixes... I tried repairing the EA app by using "run EXE in prefix" with the EA app installer, I tried "hide the wine version from the application" from winetricks/protontricks...
I tried installing the EA app with proton-GE and then running it with wine-staging. I tried the reverse. I tried many more such combinations from the wine list I gave.
I read about moving the files from the EA desktop staging folder to the EA desktop folder. There is no staging folder.
I tried deleting the cache folders from EA desktop in AppData\Local\
I got the EA app to open ONE time in Lutris after doing a bunch of weird shit like installing 2019 & 2022 vcrun using winetricks, but the UI was just a dark background with the sidebar on the left. Clicking any options in the sidebar did nothing, and at the same time it started to do the "servers took too long to do their server thing" error that I have with steam already... I ended up deleting that prefix and tried to recreate the same scenario and it didn't work (???).

I had a couple of concerns about switching over to Linux. My main concern is anti cheat on games. I am planning on playing Battlefield 6 when it comes out but I saw that it has a new anti cheat system. So for my question, Is it worth switching over if plan to play games with anti cheat ?

You guys think I can make this computer at least usable?
I have a small laptop that was in my closet for like 10 years and wanted to try if can make run at least a youtube video without struggling. I tried instaling windows 7 on it and runs great but for some reason only with windows 7 the wifi drivers doesn't work. Also try some linux OS like Zorin and Linux lite but the performance is so bad that can't even open the configuration app without taking 5 minutes. When writting this I am installing Lubuntu to see if it works.
The pc have this specs:
Intel Atom n455
2gb ram ddr3
120 hard drive storage
I know is a really bad pc but if I can optimize it to use at least a browser I can make a use of it.

Lost in the jungle of Mini-PCs
Hi folks,
I'm considering changing my setup (which a huge tower) to a Mini-PC for portability. After being tempted by switching to the Mac Mini, I decided I would stay in the linux environment. First because Mac haven't caught up in terms of compatibility compared to linux, but also because I loved my linux experience. Though I feel like Pop_OS has been stagnant lately.
Current setup
CPU: Intel i5
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060
RAM: 16 Gb
Distro: Pop_OS
Games: mostly city builders and strategy games. No triple AAA. I occasionally stream on Twitch.
I like my current setup but I now need it to be more compact and portable. Ideally a mini-ITX but I can settle on a micro-ATX if I really have to.
As a replacement, I'm considering either the Slimbook One or the Tuxedo Nano Pro with 32 Gb and Bazzite OS. My guess is that more RAM and better Linux integration with AMD may compensate for the loss in graphic performance. But I'm not sure it's that simple so I'd like to know what you think.
Am I making a huge mistake?
If so, is there a better option?
Thank you so much for helping me navigating though that mess!

Weird icon/font issue in Team Fortress 2
Hey, is anyone else experiencing this weird issue in tf2? A bunch of UI elements are replaced by letters, as if some font has failed to load. I've tried clearing my font cache, installing ms-fonts, switching from native to proton (which fixed the UI issue, but vac doesn't like tf2 on proton, so I had to switch back to native)...
I'm on Arch Linux, running Wayland Gnome.
