I am using a Fedora 43 (Gnome) almost fresh install and every time I try to play with discord on its seems fine until anyone starts a livestream, enters the call, leaves the call or exit my live stream I got a HUGE frame drop for a second, anyone has this problem?

I tried to use Equibop, Vencord, Legcord and Discord without hardware acceleration seems to have the same problems.

OS: Fedora Linux 43 (Workstation Edition)
KERNEL: 6.17.10-300.fc43.x86_64
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE (radeonsi, navi31, LLVM 21.1.5, DRM 3.64, 6.17.10-300.fc43.x86_64)
GPU DRIVER: 4.6 Mesa 25.2.7RAM: 48 GB

I use my Thinkpad X1 Lunar Lake 268v for gaming cuz it plays everything I own just fine. Black Ops III, Star Wars Squadrons, my two main gaims, they get 60fps on 1080p max graphics in Balanced power mode.

(I'm impressed, it plays these games perfectly and temps hover around 55-65C to boot.)

However, if I plug in my OWC Thunderbolt 4 dock which connects my big monitor and sound system, with the laptop lid closed I get 50fps, and with it open, it drops to 20-30fps.

Same monitor, when plugged in via a generic USB-C to DisplayPort plug, exhibits no FPS loss at all, even with the laptop screen on.

What would be the culprit here? The kernel, or Mesa driver? I'd like to raise the issue with the devs if that's a viable path to resolution.

(No, I can't turn the laptop up to Performance mode cuz it gets super hot, throttles bad, and will shut down after a few hours of doing that.)

I've been using this minecraft bedrock launcher from flathub for running minecraft bedrock on arch btw (garuda linux) and now, for some reason, it randomly freezes in any part of the game, most times when a item is dropped or if i do a fast camera movement.

Is there a way to fix this? i'm tired af.

Seems like there was an update that broken several games via Proton. I'm getting DirectX errors on any games I try to launch. Running Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS and Steam 1763795278

Anyone else seeing this issue?

I'm just putting this solution out there in case anyone encounters this issue.

TL;DR: Corrupted Steam runtime. Delete everything in ~/.local/share/Steam/ except steamapps, restart Steam to rebuild.

I had an issue where randomly out of nowhere I couldn't run native games like Song of Syx, Project Zomboid, or even Melvor Idle. I would start them, and it would instantly crash. The game wouldn't even log anything because Steam itself wasn't launching them.

I tried disabling the Steam overlay and Steam game recorder and neither worked. I knew the games themselves weren't the issue though because I literally went into the installation folder and ran the executable from the terminal.

I checked what steam was logging by running it from the console

steam 2>&1

For each of these games it said something along the lines of

ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/gamer/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored.

I fixed it by going to the Steam installation folder and deleting everything EXCEPT for "steamapps"

When I started it again from the terminal, Steam reinstalled everything by itself and I could run games natively again.

I play cracked games on windows and download pirated movies ( broke college student😔). I am planning to switch to Linux because windows sucks but I also still want to play games on Linux. So is installing and playing crack games on Linux easy? I download some games that are like pre installed from steam rip and some from other websites where I have to run the installer.exe. is there any guide or videos that I can watch that can help me with that? And I am currently using a Nvidia 4080 GPU and Amd cpu.

Hi everyone. Im relatively new to Linux and running into an issue that Im not sure how to start solving. I was not able to find an older post or forum of someone experiencing a similar issue, hoping someone here can help or at least point me towards where I should look.

I am trying to play the Elder Scrolls Online through steam. The game installs fine, when clicking play on steam it opens the 3rd party launcher for it. Pressing play on that 3rd party launcher for the first time after installing launches the game, I get the title screen and all the terms of service stuff. When on the login screen, it tries to log me in, fails and gives an internal server error. It should give me a screen where I can state that I have an existing account, or want to play through steam with a new account, but it doesn't, just says it cant log me in. I am unsure if this is a Linux related issue, or a steam account related issue.

After that, any attempt to run the game from that 3rd party launcher launches the game in a tiny window that it fully white when opened. I hear the sound of the title screen, but have no visuals.

Things Ive tried:
-uninstalling and reinstalling the game, results in the same series of events
-using different versions of proton (experimental, 9, 8, 7, 6.3) through compatibility settings in steam, does not solve the issue. Lower versions seem to be worse, the game does not launch at all.
-forcing the game to create a new programdata folder by renaming the existing one, as suggested as a solution for a lot of launcher issues on ESO's forum, did not solve the issue.

All my system info and drivers are in the image below. The white screen looks like a GPU/driver issue, but I have no issues with the GPU otherwise and the pc was only installed last week, all drivers should be up to date. Because the white screen only happens after the first time the game launches, I suspect it has smt to do with files or settings created on that first launch, but I do not know where to start.

Details that Im not sure if they matter; I am borrowing this game from another user on steam through family share, with other games this has not caused any issues. This is also my first time playing this game through steam in general, on windows I played directly through the games own launcher. Still, it should be possible to link my account on the first launch through steam.

i have a problem after the core 20 base snap and gaming-graphics-core24 snaps got updated all my games started crashing in steam and idk why but when i tried to run them with the PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

launch command it worked and games started running again and i checked i don't have any Vulkan or driver issues on my system neither do you guys have these issues as well if you use the snap version of steam or not?

Wir begrüßen Euch recht herzlich zum 18. Türchen im Holarse Linuxspiele-Adventskalender 2025! Im nunmehr schon zwölften (!) Jahr verlosen wir unter allen Linuxspielern und denen, die es noch werden möchten täglich ein natives Linuxspiel. Je nach Tag (z.B. Advent oder Nikolaus) können sich auch mehrere Spiele im Türchen verstecken. Dann haben mehrere Kommentare die Möglichkeit ein Spiel zu gewinnen.

Wie mache ich mit?

Teilnehmen kann jeder, der Lust auf Spielen unter Linux hat! Ihr benötigt zum Teilnehmen nur ein Holarse-Konto, damit wir euch den möglichen Gewinn per PM zuschicken können. Schreibt dazu einfach die Antwort zu der Frage des Tages hier unten in die Kommentare und schon seid ihr dabei!

Unter allen, die bis 20 Uhr unten in den Kommentaren antworten, wird dann der Gewinn oder die Gewinne verlost. Bei mehreren Spielen gibt es natürlich auch mehrere Gewinner!
