Can you run two instances of a game to force split screen?
I love playing split screen games on my TV with my SO but almost no PC games support it.
I'm wondering if Linux can enable this capability with some trickery.
I was initially thinking of running two VMs and setting their resolutions set to half the screen... But of course, GPU sharing for VMs is an enterprise feature so that's not possible.
I actually thought about buying a second GPU to pass through to a VM and getting an HDMI multi-view adapter to split the screen - but that's kind of dumb.
Given Linux containers can share a GPU, is there a solution through containerization? I know I can use something like LXC to containerize an OS, but I'm not sure if graphical applications can be containerized like that.
Any ideas?

Controller Fix for Silksong?
Title. To be clear, I think it's awesome that I can run Silksong without proton. However, when I don't, right trigger works as a toggle when double tapped only and I can't tap it for midair dashes, instant use, etc. I also get no rumble without proton.
However, when I enable proton, all pre-rendered visuals are now broken. Does anyone know of a better fix?

Hollow Knight: Silksong is out now with Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck support
This is Amazing - Some of 2025’s Biggest Game Releases on Linux
I know Linux still has some problems, like Nvidia driver issues and the annoying anti-cheat situation.
But for me (having used Linux since 2014), this is something I never thought would happen - some AAA games even work on day one now.
I would also prefer more native Linux builds - like what happened with Hollow Knight: Silksong and Cronos: The New Dawn - which was very nice. But for sure, Proton has really been a game changer.

Xbox Series X controller is bugging out when using it with Xpadneo
I am on Arch and I have installed Xpadneo driver to connect my Xbox Controller with it
When I first boot into the system, it works perfectly fine but right as I disconnect and reconnect, the Right and Left triggers stop working
I am connected via bluetooth so maybe thats a problem.
The rest of the buttons and sticks work fine, only the triggers bug out, it is working fine on my windows machine so there isn't a problem with the controller.
Anyone got ideas on how to fix this desync? Thanks

I have been trying to create a convoy and invite my friends to it in forza horizon 5 and the friend list isnt actually appearing.

HDMI problems on Wayland with NVIDIA GPU
I’ve connected my RTX 4080 to my TV via HDMI. I’m running CachyOS with the latest drivers (580.82). Whenever I turn off or disconnect the TV, the GPU will lose its connection permanently until I restart the whole system.
This only happens on Wayland regardless of Distribution (I’ve also tried Fedora), and Desktop environment. It only happens when using the Wayland display server. Everything works as expected on X11.
I’d have to sacrifice VRR, and HDR on X11 so I’ve just accepted this inconvenience.
I could also use a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but again, I’d have to sacrifice VRR.
I realize it’s not the biggest problem, but maybe someone here has come across a fix or workaround.

Need help with game performance on CachyOS (RTX 4090 + 9950X3D)
Hey everyone, I’m new to CachyOS and trying to get Cyberpunk running (pirated copy, added through Steam). I set Proton Experimental and used this launch option I found online:
DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_NVAPI_ALLOW_HIDE_GPU=1 %command%Not sure if this is actually useful or not.
The issues I’m having:
- The benchmark stutters a lot.
- Can’t enable HDR (my monitor supports it).
- Performance is really bad — I’m getting about half the FPS compared to Windows 11.
My specs:
- RTX 4090
- Ryzen 9 9950X3D
Indiana Jones seems to run better (haven’t tested deeply yet), but Cyberpunk is basically unplayable.
For context: I just installed CachyOS and went straight to testing, no extra installs, drivers, or configs yet.
Should I enable G-SYNC somehow? Maybe that would fix the stutters? I couldn’t find the option in the NVIDIA control panel. Is there something else I can try?
Can anyone help me improve performance? I know there’s usually some hit compared to Windows, but I feel like this is way worse than it should be.
Thanks a lot!
