No man's sky VR crashing on launch
I've been trying to get No man's sky VR to work, though it's refusing to so much as launch and I feel like I've come to my wits end. I'm using ALVR and I've tried multiple proton versions and have had no issues with flatscreen NMS, with it running flawlessly using all the same different proton versions I've tried using to run it in VR. I've tried reinstalling the prefix, reinstalling the game, restarting my pc, but none of those had any effect. From what I can tell from reading the proton logs there isn't anything that would indicate the cause of this. I'm currently at my wits end so I figured I might as well make a post in case I ended up missing something or some such.
I'm running a nvidea rtx 2080 super GPU alongside an Intel I9-9900K CPU on a Fedora 42 KDE plasma system, with 32 GB of ram.
The log: https://pastebin.com/uszLi56W
I love playing NMS in VR, so any help would be very much appreciated as I'm not willing to give up on it just yet. At least not without asking around like this.

steam having an issue with i386 (kde neon)
i wanted to reinstall Linux on a larger disk so i reinstalled . everything went normal until installing steam again. i installed the dependency and when i run
dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
it returns
i386
then when i try to install steam-installer it complains that i do not have the dependency.
how can i go about fixing this
i have installed steam quite a few times but overall am still fairly newish to Linux (had used it before but only switched it to my main OS in Feb this year
Edit : it now works. the only thing i changed was a display resolution(slected 1440p instead of 1080 so i could see more on google to troubleshoot) so idk what fixed it . i just reran the command and it worked

What is the *BEST* way to run Minecraft on Linux ?
Hey guys, I'm on Arch Linux right now Like the title say, what is the most optimal way to play Minecraft on Linux, Arch Linux?
Well, I tried prismlauncher yesterday, and it was a horrible experience. For some reason, I have to try multiple time to login (seem like it is a general unsolved issue of prism on linux). But then, it get worst. After hours waiting for finally logged in, here come the experience. It slow af and I honestly don't know why, every one seem enjoy it but mine is so slow. By slow I mean the load instance slow (like get the available version, etc)
Then come the gaming experience, I cannot even load the game...It keep crashing and I don't know why cause I cannot find any one have the same issue as me :(
I was running prism few time on Windows, same machine, and it do not have any of the above issues.
Please help me

Switching from W11 to Linux.
Hello i have a few questions about switching to linux (i am thinking about using nobara)
Here are my specs:
I am using a lenovo laptop (Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8)
GPU: Geforce RTX 4060
CPU:13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13620H
RAM: 16GB of Ram
SSD: 1TB
So. I need alternative apps for the following things and other options for:
I use Lenovo Vantage for limiting my battery charge to 80%, changeing my GPU working mode to dGPU because on windows at least ive had a few instances where it would change to hybrid mode on its own.
I also need to know if the nvidia app is on Nobara same with the control panel.
Alternative for clipping with Medal.
I also need to know if things like Epic games Launcher works. And i dont play many games with anticheat.
And Ubisoft games also.
Taskmanager alternative cause i use it alot.
Also definetely gonna use Wine.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I Mainly wanna switch from W11 to Nobara because of the KB5063878 update not wanting to risk my drive.
I wanna know anything i should know before factory resetting and swapping to Linux (Nobara)
I am completely New to Linux btw.

Managed to run a gov't program in Steam via Proton
I could install it via Wine but never could run it and neither me nor Perplexity could make out the error logs. Reinstalled my distro for other reasons and now I can't run Windows 11 or 10 in OracleVM for whatever reason. Decided to give it a shot in Steam with Proton 9.0-4... and it worked! Now I can work with shitty gov't programs that only run on Windows, but from my EndeavourOS.
So, let me meme a bit: Only an AMATEUR needs Windows, hahaha!

How is gaming on Linux?
I'm seriously considering switching the Linux, this windows hardware killing update shit has made me extremely paranoid because I don't have a stable income and I can't afford to replace anything if something breaks. Problem is, I'm not tech savvy at ALL, I had a hard time understanding what drivers where until I upgraded my graphics card on 2024, and I had my first gaming pc since 2022.
Is there a definitive guide? I play mostly steam games and fortnite. My specs are a rx 6750 xt, CPU i5-11400f and 16 gb of ram, tho I don't know if this is important.
I know there's a lot of games that aren't compatible with linux but that's something I'm willing to sacrifice if it means not being constantly stressed. Everything I heard about it sounds so complicated I wish there was a user friendly version.

No Man's Sky GOG and Heroic running under Steam but no Steam overalay and no controller support
I've installed GOG No Man's Sky on Heroic and added the game to Steam from Heroic's menu.
The game starts and runs, but there is no Steam overlay and the controller works like a mouse, although the config is loaded.
If I press the chord button (it's a Steam Controller) I can hear the Steam Overlay through the speakers, but I can't see it.
If I add the game manually to Steam as a non Steam game, the game won't start.
How can I get the Steam Controller to work with the GOG version of No Man's Sky on Linux?

Searching for some game recommendations
It may be a setup that will anger so many, but I'm down for any criticism. I'm more of an old school person, and I finally got my gaming pc back to working condition. I'm looking for recommendations for any games, and also heavy games to test limits in different aspects.
(I only have a 75hz monitor if anyone asks.)

AMD Strix Halo on Linux questions
Prefacing this with the fact I already have an all AMD desktop running Linux I know AMD support is generally excellent.
Just purchased a new laptop with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395 and the first thing I will do when I get it is install Linux on it.
I was wondering what the experience is like on Linux from people with first hand experience.
- Any incompatibilities or issues related to how "new" Zen 5 is ?
- How's performance on Linux gaming and creative applications ?
- Anything I should be aware of ?
- How's battery life affected if at all ?
I can not find too much info online about the Linux side of things with these Zen 5 chips.
I also intend on benchmarking and sharing results here when I get it in case anyone else in in my situation wondering how the experience is before buying.
