UPDATE 2: Reviving a 20 year old game to run on modern linux
Thanks to u/Nrezinorn for all their help first and foremost. This project seemed to tickle that problem solving side of his noggin that I love to scratch myself, so much so that he ended up pushing through some changes on the github repo which should help with getting the game to run inside of a VM.
So I have some good news! It compiles! On arch32 at least.
The bad news? It crashes to desktop immediately with a generic segfault error.
After I get back home today I'll probably be taking cracks at it through MX-Linux's 32 bit distro, but everyone is free to take a crack at getting this game to run. All you need is the dependencies, repo, and a 32 bit Linux Virtual machine!
And I'm new to code myself, so if you have an interest in coding and just want to mess around with it, feel free. Sometimes trying dumb shit works because if its dumb but it works, it's not dumb.
To Do? Well we have to refactor fonts.h to NOT use dat2c since that's one of our primary limiting factors, then we need to update it to Allegro 5 before it can be safely ported, since those are likely prerequisites to getting the game to run on x86_64 architecture, and therefore prerequisites for remaking the game in Godot.
As always, thank you guys for helping me out and taking interest in this game.

What's better between Radeon and NVIDIA drivers for a user that barely knows how to manage his Linux system?
I'm thinking on changing my GPU but still deciding on whether to buy an AMD or NVIDIA. I've seen equivalent AMD cards are cheaper than NVIDIA ones but I'm not sure if changing drivers will be a pain in the ass, i don't have integrated graphics in the CPU nor the motherboard so i pretty much risk my computer not giving image and probably having to reinstall my OS (it happened once when i tried to test an older video card and installed it's drivers).
If the drivers have an installer or can be installed by the driver manager provided by Ubuntu then it's one thing less to worry about.

I can't find any logs to send since I'm using this as a non-steam game and I don't know where logs are stored any help would be greatly appreciated

Need help with Xplane12 and a plugin for it both Linux native.
This might be a stretch but I’m all out of ideas I have asked for help everywhere.
I recently distro hopped from Mint to CachyOS and I am having issues with XPlane 12 more specifically with a linux native plugin for it called AutoOrtho.
The plugin uses symlinks to inject scenery into the sim on the fly and has been working great for me on Mint and Fedora before.
It’s now behaving like it should but nothing is being injected into the sim and the logs have nothing that I can see.
Plugin depends on FUSE for the virtual file system and that is set up correctly.
I suspect this might be a weird permissions issue as I was using the flatpak version of Steam prior and now I am not or that it may have something to do with my file system.
I’m out of ideas.
Any help would be welcome.

PS it’s late here and I might see replies tomorrow.

Integrated or eGPU performance
I have a mini pc with the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS which has the integrated GPU AMD Radeon 780M: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-780m.c4020
From 32GB of DDR5 RAM I have allocated 8GB to the GPU.
On the other hand I have MSI GeForce GTX 1650 4GT Low Profile 4GB GDDR5 : https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/GeForce-GTX-1650-4GT-LP-OC/Specification
I could connect the MSI as external GPU using the oculink port as eGPU.
Do you think I would have better performance using the external GPU?

Mouse cursor doesn't stay in game window
Hello guys,
I'm experiencing a strange issue where my mouse cursor escapes many of my games. Wether I use fullscree, borderless or windowed. It still happens.
It has come to the point where I have to disable my second monitor every time I want to play a game. And then renable it when I want to be productive. It feels like I'm sacrificing half my hardware.
Is there any fix to this?
I know that I can use gamescope, but I'm on Nvidia and afaik it doesn't play well.

How to run Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl Enhanced Edition on Linux?
I've tried every possible version of proton, but the game either just doesn't launch or launches with an error. I know it works on steamdeck, but is there any way to run it on desktop?

Genshin Impact (Part1000)
Good day yall. This will be probably another Linux help post.
I recently changed my pc from windows to linux and I dont know how to install Genshin Impact. I mean I do know a way (through Lutris Wine) but it proved to be laggier than windows. After this I asked around and I found other "better" ways to run it. Here is the list of options I found.
HeroicGamesLauncher (tried it, got stuck to a captcha that wasnt being sent but it was mandatory to pass)
AnimeLauncher (got to a dead end, dont remember how)
Lutris/WIne (seems laggier than windows)
Lutris/Steam/Proton (heard it was the best way, but I couldnt make it work, as the instructions were unclear)
So what I would need is 2 things:
A. Personal experience with these pathways to determine which is the least laggy
B. A guide to help me get through the installation process
P.S. I am new in Linux and I am not a PC expert, but I can manage

Performance issues in Marvel rivals with recent update
Somehow after the May update, Marvel rivals only runs in 15-35 fps range for me. Before the update it was running pretty well, giving constant 55-60 fps and performance dips only when a lot of stuff is going on in the match. Now it's even struggling to run the animations in the main menu.
I'm on Fedora 42 KDE Plasma with Wayland. I use Nvidia graphics, but I don't think that's the issue. And yes I also use the launch options that skip the launcher and turns on the shader compiler. I tried different GE-Proton versions (9-20,9-27,10-2) and it's all the same
I want to know if anyone of you found any fix for this issue
