Origin/EA games on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 29. Oktober 2024 - 16:25

Hello!

This has probably been asked several times already, but I thought id ask anyways.

I’m planning on fully moving from Windows to Linux, but I’m a heavy gamer. I’m testing on a laptop and I’ve managed to make most of my Steam games work on Linux with Wine (I run Linux Mint, if anyone is curious).

I haven’t tried yet to do anything with Origin, but all I’ve seen is about a platform called Lutris. As I said, I haven’t tested it yet.

What worries me is: I play Sims 2 pirated because I lost my opportunity to get the Deluxe edition for free when they removed the game from the shop.

Could I keep playing Sims 2 on Linux? How could I set up everything to keep playing games in Origin? (I’m willing to change distro if there’s a better option)

Anyone here play squad?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 29. Oktober 2024 - 15:41

I'm on a ryzen 2700x, 1660 super, 32 GB ram playing at 1080p. Performance is astonishingly bad (20 fps with frequent frame drop) at lowest settings with full GPU and GPU mem use, frequently maxing out single CPU cores. I understand my computer to be above the minimum system requirements. Is this kind of thing typical even on windows or is something wrong with my config?

Shader Clock Speed never goes beyond 60%?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 29. Oktober 2024 - 15:32

I'm using ubuntu and 6860Z processor (680m igpu). When i run valley benchmark (everything at max just to stress), my radeontop always showing clock at 60% top never 100%. I disable tlp but it still stuck around 50-60%. Any idea why?

Using mission control i can see the power usage hovering around 13-16 watt.

Snackbox Micro on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 29. Oktober 2024 - 14:42

Heyo, fighter enthusiast here. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with getting their Snackbox Micro working with Linux? Recently switched to Arch Linux as a daily driver, and I have a Snackbox Micro. I haven't had the chance to try it with Linux yet (and I can't for a few more days), and after looking online, I haven't really found a conclusive answer. Any help or insights are greatly appreciated! :D

lutris alt+f4 & make resource manager 'always on top' [KDE PLASMA - WAYLAND]

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 29. Oktober 2024 - 14:09

Hi there,

combo question for you.. or rather just 2 questions :D

*Is there a way to close lutris games with alt+f4? Sometimes a game is unresponsive, breaks or whatnot and alt+f4 does basically nothing to the lutris games overall (even when they just work). Going alt+tab I can see the desktop for a sec but it jumps back to the game again no matter if its in borderless window or fullscreen exclusive mode so thats also not helpful.

*basically how to make resource manager (ctrl+esc) stay over the other windows? It was my second thought to use it just like task manager on windows and to kill the game this way but the manager stay under the game even if I force it to stay over other windows in plasma.. it works for everything except for the very thing I wanted to use it for lol (kill hung up lutris games).

i run opensuse tumbleweed, kde plasma wayland
