DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine.
Hey so im new to Linux and recently changed from windows 10 to Linux Mint and there is this one steam game known as ¨Foxhole¨ that worked on Windows 10 but now doesnt on Linux Mint, I was wondering if there is anything I can do? I have tried changing the steam proton to older ones such as 7 yet its the same result. I am not sure what to do, and if anyone could help I would be very grateful!

I love that I don't go to ProtonDB as often
I don't know if I'm just more used to gaming on Linux, but in two years I went from needing protonDB quite often to play, to really just hitting download and play and not thinking of tinkering. Truly I love that progression.

Need help to choose a controller
Hey guys, I am looking for my first controller. After looking on amazon and prices I have narrow down to three - Ant eSports GP365 pro wireless - NITRO SMART PS wireless - Cosmic Byte ARES wireless
I wants to know which of these work on linux? I am open for suggestions as long as it is not too expensive. I am not a professional player. I just want something that works out of the box on linux or as our of the box as possible. I am not afraid of few terminal commands.

2 years of gaming on Linux, my experience
Hello, after more than 2 years of fully switching to Linux, here is my experience so far, i write this for people who still hesitate to switch. I firstly want to say i am not a computer expert, after 2 years i still don't really know anything in the terminal. Also my hardware is a AMD gpu (RX6700) and Intel CPU (i5-11400F) with 32gb ram.
Firstly the distribution : I have tried many of them (Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, Nobara, Arch, Endeavour...) my best experience is by far Fedora. I had a lot of performance problems with Debian-based distribution i still don't know why. And Arch-based distribution were just too much work and learning, it wasn't made for me. Fedora has been easy, always up to date and everything just works ootb.
About the launchers, i have tried many as well (Lutris, Steam, Bottles, Heroic...) and i only use Steam today, for non-Steam games (High seas) i just click on "add a non-steam game", it's really that easy. Lutris iny opinion and experience, was more complicated for no reason and Heroic worked like 20% of the time. That'sy experience, don't be mad against me for that !
There is still 2 main problems with Linux gaming : - Competitive multiplayer games, there is still a lot of games that do block Linux (Valorant for exemple) but few do works (Counter Strike or Rocket League)
- And Modding, i don't know why but it's not really developped on Linux, it's always much more complicated. I really hope that it will get easier soon, i know that NexusMods do work on a Linux solution but i am not a fan of NexusMods. That is really a problem for me.
Apart from that, i don't think that i had better performance than Windows ingame, it's approximately the same, the real difference here is outside of gaming, Linux is much more fluid to use everyday, Windows feels really slow compared to Linux.
I had once a problem with my Xbox controller because i had to update the firmware, i couldn't use the controller for many weeks, the only solution i found was to install Windows in a virtual machine to update the controler 😭 Today it's easier with apps like Winboat.
You see that there is not much problems, i truly believe that it will get much better very soon, i will probably never have to use Windows again .

Help with epic games
Im running the latest version of omarchy and heroic games launcher (as far as i know). I just cant get the only two games that i realy like from epic games to work. The games are severed steel and sable. Sable starts up and then disapears, and with severed steel i get the message: A D3D11-compatible GPU (Feature Level 11.0, Shader Model 5.0) is required to run the engine.

Proton games freeze moments after launching when both monitors are enabled.
HI,
Ive been trying to find a fix for this issue but i just seem to be the only one suffering from it. Recently my system was force upgraded from the Nvidia 550 driver to the Nvidia 580-open driver, everything in the system works perfectly fine, except for Windows games, which after launching for moments proceed to freeze, having to quit the game. Native Linux games work just fine. I have tried Proton-GE 9-25 and Proton Experimental but they all yield the same results. The weird thing is, if i turn off my laptop display the game plays just fine on my external monitor and vice versa, So i have no idea what the cause is. I tried various kernel parameters like nvidia_drm.modeset=1 and nvidia_drm.fbdev=1 but both do nothing to solve the issue. Do note that game sounds don't freeze, they keep playing like nothing happened (like the bgm) but nothing else happens it just loops.
Running Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon X11 on a hybrid dual GPU setup on a laptop (Intel+Nvidia), my GPU is the Geforce GTX 1650 TI, which is eligible for the open driver, and an Intel Core i5 10th gen. I'm currently on the kernel 6.8.0-85-generic.

Here is some logs for a game called Those Nights at Fredbear, For some reason Mangohud displays gpu metrics 0% so idk why that is.

i would like to note that some games don't freeze moments but minutes after, again not sure why.

How can I update the Epic Games Launcher with Bottles?
Every time I press the button to continue the launcher crashes and I can't get passed it. I'm having to launch games from the drop-down menu in the tray but I know that it won't work once the games need an update

How can I install games from FitGirl Repacks on Arch Linux?
I'm currently using Omarchy and want to play games from FitGirl on my Linux, I know I can use wine to go through the installation process and then add the games through steam, but I don't like the idea of adding pirated games onto my Steam account where I have hundreds if not thousands of dollars invested. Can I use any other launcher to run these games? Or maybe use a secondary account to run these games? If I use another account, could this be traced to my main account on the same device and get both accounts banned?

World of Warcraft not going into fullscreen
Hey guys,
I'm on Fedora and I've been playing wow by using Lutris, which I had no problems, but suddenly one day I assumed it was after a new version of Proton-GE, I couldn't go into full screen and my mouse wasn't clicking where it was point but it had like invisible mouse at some place that I had to find. So I thought I had to try something else, which was installing battle.net through Stream, which worked fine and I even think it ran better than Lutris, a 10-15 fps more but that might be my imagination. So this morning I launched wow from Steam like I used to do and you can see in the screenshot how it is, just like using Lutris, so something must be breaking this. Do you have any idea why is this happening?

Using collective effort to make Riot release League for Linux
Hear me out.
I think it's possible making Riot at least consider making Vanguard be available for Linux.
If we start writing collective messages to their services, if we start appearing near their office.
Heck, I even have a friend who used to work at Riot and he can hook me up with some of the devs.
I am ready to buy a dinner for some of them and rant about how happy the Linux community would be if League was released for Linux.
Or simply sending them a private message.
I would definitely buy some RP.
What do you think? I remember we *almost made AMD opensource their management engine version some years ago.

I'm confused because of HDR
So I bought a Oled HDR monitor and need some explanation.
In Wayland with KDE there is a HDR option in the display settings which I turned on.
But what now?
I read about about gamemode. Do I need it for the games to run in HDR?
Is there anything I have todo that it'll work in games?
Thanks for the answers guys ^

Weird Cyberpunk issue. Alt+Tabbing once gives me 25+Fps boost
I'm on Arch with KDE Plasma Wayland
Nvidia 2080ti (nvidia-open driver), Ryzen 5600x
Steam Proton 9
The issue:
I launch cyberpunk, load my save, stand still. 50fps
If I alt tab, then tab back in, Suddenly 75+ fps. I get this FPS boost for the rest of the session
This is with the game in Fullscreen mode
If I Put Windowed Borderless, alt+tabbing does not give me this boost.
What is going on here? Its very strange. How can I fix it so I don't need to alt+tab once to get this FPS boost?
