Disabling ReBar with a VKD3D flag or how to (maybe) fix incosistent GPU utilization
Just wanted to put this here so others can find it when googling...
In Cyberpunk I experienced a degraded framerate consistently after menuing or when talking to NPCs. Turned out that my GPU wasn't being utilizd fully in that scenario (thermals ok, only drawing a fraction of the possible power) and I had to load into a new area to fix it (until it happened again which was giga annoying).
Anyway, I found out that some people on Windows disabled ReBar for fixing this issue. I didn't want to do that in the BIOS as i wanted ReBar enabled for other games, so I went digging and eventually found this flag:
VKD3D_CONFIG=force_host_cached
Just put it in Steam's launch option for any game that shows issues that might be fixed by fiddling with ReBar. As far as I understand, it should work both for NVidia and AMD GPUs.
Lo and behold, Cyberpunk now uses 100% of my GPU all of the time, no more shitty framerate.
I don't own any other games with this issue, so please, if you manage to fix something else with this, leave a comment so people can find it when searching.

Help with playing games on Linux Mint - Steam games.
Hi Everyone,
I just switched to Linux mint and it's a rewarding experience. Everything works out of the box and I'm really liking it. Now, I want to play my steam games on Linux Mint so I went through all the documentations, reddit answers and tried installing Batman Arkham Asylum but it won't start. I'm getting a box of errors, the launcher has black rectangles and the game won't launch. I think I'm missing something here. I'm new to Linux gaming so can someone please help me with this? Is there a step by step guide? Thanks in advance.

I may have cocked up with Steam and I need your help
(Please be kind, I'm trying to learn, sometimes at my own expenses..)
Hello, last night I tried to install Dirt Rally 2.0 on my secondary NTFS drive, as my main one didn't have enough space left, and it didn't launch. I had a few other games installed on the main drive, which launched perfectly until last night, so I thought ok, I move all of the installed games and Proton bits and pieces to the secondary drive and make it the default one, but they ALL refused to launch at that point. So I thought ok, let's uninstall Steam altogether without moving the games backwards and forwards, then I purged everything from Steam to do a clean up (using sudo apt purge steam*) and when I tried to reinstall via Mint's store, it says this:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
steam-installer: Dipende: steam-libs-i386 (= 1:1.0.0.79~ds-2)
same story if I try to install via terminal, it says:
I seguenti pacchetti hanno dipendenze non soddisfatte: //(the following packages have unmet dependencies)
steam-installer : Dipende: steam-libs-i386 (= 1:1.0.0.79~ds-2)
E: Impossibile correggere i problemi, ci sono pacchetti danneggiati bloccati. //(Impossible to correct problems, you have blocked damaged packaged)
How do I solve the issue?

My NVIDIA GPU is Underperforming on Fedora – Only 20 FPS in War Thunder
Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a serious performance issue with my NVIDIA GPU on Fedora. Even though I have installed the official drivers (following multiple tutorials on YouTube), my GPU isn’t being fully utilized.
Specs:
GPU: NVIDIA [insert your exact model, e.g., GeForce GTX 1660]
OS: Fedora [insert version, e.g., Fedora 42]
Driver: NVIDIA proprietary (latest)
The Problem:
In War Thunder, the FPS never exceeds 20, even on medium settings.
nvidia-smi shows that GPU usage is only around 6%.
I used to play the same game at 60 FPS on Windows with the same GPU.
CPU usage is normal, and nothing else seems to be limiting the system.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers, switching to different versions, and checking GPU settings, but nothing changes.
Things I’ve Tried:
Installed NVIDIA drivers via RPMFusion and official NVIDIA website
Checked with nvidia-smi and glxinfo to verify driver installation
Tried running the game with prime-run (command not found issue)
What I Need:
Any advice on why my GPU is not being fully utilized on Fedora
How to force War Thunder to use my NVIDIA GPU
Suggestions for troubleshooting GPU performance issues on Linux
Thanks in advance for your help! Any guidance would be appreciated.

War Thunder performance suffering since switching to Linux, any help welcome.
Hey y'all, I recently switched from Windows to Linux because of discontinued security updates for Windows 10 and privacy concerns with Windows in general.
While most of my games have been running as well or better than on Windows, I'm having constant issues with War Thunder when trying to run the game on anything close to the high graphics settings I was using on Windows.
Any help is appreciated.
General info:
- I started on the Steam version of the game but switched to the native Linux client to make the game playable at all (there were severe jitter/stutter issues with the Steam version).
- Game now runs great on low settings, but if I turn any of the terrain settings (terrain quality, grass, trees, etc) up past minimum/low I start running into issues.
- While I can turn up settings and the game will still report an FPS of 60-120 (down from 150-240) depending on settings, it looks like it's actually running at a much lower and rough fps, or just acting laggy in general).
- Textures seem to load slowly or inconsistently, despite the game being on an NVME SSD.
- CPU usage looks reasonable at 20-35% (system total), GPU usage looks higher than it should be for the settings at 75-90%, RAM usage is reasonable if low at 25% (system total, out of 64GB)
System and install info:
- Nvidia GTX 1080
- Intel Core I7-8700K
- 64GB RAM
- Endeavor OS (Arch Linux)
- "Full client" 60GB version of game, although I'm fairly sure I was using the 130GB ultra HQ version on Windows.

Roblox studio on linux
I am a Linux user(Manjaro) and I want to start Roblox development. I know that Roblox does not support Linux officially but I heard there are third-party tools to help me run it. I tried everything but I still can't get Roblox studio running, right now I'm trying to use Vinegar, but it fails. The Vinegar launcher launches, then the window with black screen pops up and after 3 seconds it shutdowns itself, I don't know how to fix it.
https://reddit.com/link/1ofmmrn/video/emac9nl518xf1/player
Are there any fixes for the Vinegar?
Are there any Linux users here that have working Roblox studio setups done? if so how did you do it?
Down here is a one minute window of me launching vinegar and it failing.

Steam supported platform
So I am currently working on a game which will be available for Linux. But I am confused with what to give as the OS version, I am using Mint, so should I type Linux mint or which Cinnamon version it is or the Linux Kernel? I am linux noob, so I have no idea what I should type in that section 😞

Trying to Make TF2 Work
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to commit to Linux Mint as my daily driver. I love the idea of Linux and ever since Windows 11 was forced upon me I feel even more committed this time. The one thing I am having issues with is gaming, specifically the full-screen aspect of it.
Specifically with TF2, launching the game (which is native to Linux) the normal way freezes up my graphics. During the boot loading screen, my monitors will go black, come back on, and then everything is frozen visually. I can still hear audio playing in the background, my friends on Discord, etc.
So the solution I found on GitHub was to run with the launch options "-windowed -noborder". Now the game launches, but my panel (taskbar, whatever) is still visible at the bottom due to it not being true fullscreen. I tried hiding the panel, but as I move my mouse in game downwards it comes back up (I guess TF2 doesn't truly lock your cursor?)
I have tried switching to fullscreen when in-game, it freezes up my PC.
I think it is also worth noting that in Slay the Spire, going fullscreen works perfectly fine-- that is, until I alt-tab, in which case my cursor completely disappears. But that's besides this point and question.
Has anyone ever experienced this?

HDR discoveries and questions
Iv been fighting HDR for months trying to dial it in on my LG 27GS95QE, which shows up as 603 nits default max brightness in HDR calibration. This panel is able to do over 1000 but the calibration screens show a bigger white window (windows 11 as well) so this is what you get as the value. On windows I discovered that if I set the first screen max brightness value to 1000 and then the second white screen which is max full screen whiteness to 603 it ended up really nice, allowing my panel to tonemapp up to the 1000 nits. So coming back to KDE I thought maybe I should set that max brightness to 1000 instead of 603 where the image clips. Suddenly I actually have full highlights in my games. Stalker 2 was a game plaguing me. Highlights would look blue and dull. Now the sun at sunset is bright AF and looks good. Cyberpunk I never really had any issues with. It looks really good, so I'm wondering why that is and how these games differ in HDR implementation to cause this behavior? How are you guys calibrating on KDE and how are you setting these values? I found that the second screen likes to be around 200 which according to a few places (Xavier's blog being one) Iv seen is the same as Windows 11 and refers to a reference HDR white luminance? I'm really trying to figure this out because it's not the most straightforward. I think that because my monitor is WOLED and used mla lenses to reach 1000 it acts differently with the way the system reads? Idk. Advice very welcome. Id love to compare similar panels and see how your enjoying HDR. It's such an important feature to me that Iv even reinstalled W11 to check my sanity but I just can't keep it installed. My games run so much better under KDE. Im on Cachy os with a 9070xt. Everything up to date. LG 27GS95QE as stated connected via DP 1.4 DSC. Using the calibrated gamer 1 mode for HDR true black and I use max peak brightness on the monitor with AMD free sync premium pro.
