Wolfenstein Youngblood RT on AMD GPUs possible?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 09. Mai 2025 - 11:00

Wolfenstein Youngblood was among the first games that got Ray Tracing support, back in 2019.

Problem is that it's a Vulkan game so RT got implemented with early custom Nvidia Vulkan RT extensions and the game to my knowledge was never later updated to use standard vendor agnostic Vulkan RT extensions. So RT still works on Nvidia RTX GPUs but nothing else.

Is there a workaround to make RT work on this game under Mesa/RADV?

Potentially Dumb Question

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 09. Mai 2025 - 09:28

Its probably better for me if the answer is no, but I'm just starting to use Mint and saw on steam that there was Proton BattleEye Runtime and EasyAntiCheat, would I not be able to play Destiny 2 or is Bungie still being annoying?

Steam games won't open

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 09. Mai 2025 - 08:52

When i press play, it loads the game and then the button turns into "play" again, the game window doesnt appear at all and it just repeats whenever i press play again, yes steam play is enabled for all titles, i also tried disabling it and enabling compatibility for each game manually, still the same problem, i used flatpak steam from discover, and switched to the latest debian package, still the same issue, everything is updated as well as my drivers (nvidia 570) (used "sudo ubuntu-drivers install nvidia:570" to install them), ive been trying multiple games and none work

I'm on kubuntu 25.04 specs are 4070 and i7 13700 if it helps

Lost save files of Final Fantasy XVI

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 09. Mai 2025 - 08:31

I was going from Steam Deck to my main rig on FFXVI, and I saved properly and everything. Exited the game and went to my main rig. After compiling shaders, my saves were gone. I went back to my Steam Deck, saves are also gone. Is it possible to get back these files ? I lost a lot of hours. Is this even a Linux issue or Steam Cloud fucking up

Will linux always be stuck with proton?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 09. Mai 2025 - 07:40

Support for multiplayer games and other ip's are simply not linux native to begin with. I hate to say it but linux will surely just be stuck with proton compatibility layers and devs are just not interested in making native titles. No matter how many commercial catastrophes microsoft makes with windows such as the recall feature or the copilot or software bloat which impacts performance, people would just stay silent on these issues..

Wdyt, will this change if more popular influencers speak out on this issue?
