Assassin's Creed: Mirage has no DLSS option

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 18:06

I am playing the game via lutris. The game only works with Proton-GE-8.3 and Proton-Sayek-9.22 other versions have graphical glitches with the newest nvidia drivers. I am using Nvidia rtx 3050Tİ and ryzen 5 6600H cpu. In the game directory there are nvngx_dlss.dll but in game options there are only TAA, Intel XESS and AMD FSR 2 options available. As far as i know the game supports DLSS but i just dont have that option. What should i do?

Has anyone played Jedi survivor recently? I can't get it to launch with proton.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 17:49

So like the title says I tried to launch it, but after a minute or two of attempting to launch it fails. I have run a dozen+ other proton games with little to no issues, but Jedi survivor will not launch.

Any ideas or advice?

Gamescope HDR in games on Intel Arc Battlemage

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 17:43

Has anyone had success running HDR in games on intel arc battlemage using gamescope? I seem to be having issues. I am running endeavour OS and the game I am using for testing does not seem to wanna work. I am using Kena: Bridge of spirits in the opening scene as a test. I have a second HTPC of sorts here with an rx 6400 and the opening scene in a cave is pitch black except for when u use magic, whereas this one with the arc gpu is just a little dark but u can see everything. I assume the intent was the former.

Also does anyone know if there is monitoring software to see if HDR is actually working or not.

edit: my launch options for the game:

gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -r 144 -f --adaptive-sync --hdr-enabled --force-grab-cursor -- %command%

Also worth noting that KDE settings let me turn HDR on just fine. The screenshot below is a displayport connection, however HDMI gives the same result

How change the Language of Need for Speed Most Wanted to spanish

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 17:32

Well, i discover a trick for it. you must dismark the es_ES choice of Locale-gen (or the language supported by the game)

Command: sudo vim /etc/locale-gen. After that, dismark es_ES.UTF-8 after that, go to your launcher and write this in the variable section:

LC_ALL = es_ES.UTF-8 must look like this:

https://preview.redd.it/zg7qh0ox7dfe1.png?width=754&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a99c9d9a5b7d3b9472f461162d352abb6b75628

and now, ENJOY YOUR GAME!

Another CS2 drop FPS after playing few rounds post

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 17:10

System:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (Driver 565.77)
- RAM: 32GB
- Kernel: 6.13.0-2-cachyos
- DE: GNOME 47.3 (Wayland)
- Monitor: Samsung LC27G7xT (2560x1440@144Hz)

Configuration:
- Session: Wayland
- Compositor: GNOME/Mutter
- NVIDIA Driver: 565.77 (open)
- Kernel parameters: nvidia-drm.modeset=1

Launch Options:
```LD_PRELOAD="" MANGOHUD=1 gamemoderun %command% -nojoy -novid -tickrate 240 -console -high -fullscreen -softparticlesdefaultoff +mat_queue_mode 2```
Issue:
FPS drops progressively after playing CS2 for a few matches. The game starts with normal FPS, but after 2-3 matches, the performance degrades significantly until a system restart is required to restore normal performance.
File System:
- BTRFS on WD Black NVMe
- Swap: 32GB zram (barely used)
Temperatures (at idle):
- CPU: 41.6°C
- GPU: 35°C
Additional Notes:
- The issue only manifests after extended gameplay
- System restart fixes the problem temporarily
- Using NVIDIA open source driver
- Running under Wayland/XWayland
- Using Gamemode and Mangohud
- High tickrate (240) configured
Would be helpful to know:
1. If others experience similar issues with CS2 on Wayland
2. If switching to X11 session helps
3. If using Gamescope could mitigate the problem
Do I miss something? when restart the computer, works again flawlessy, on par of windows or even I feel it snappier
Lutris is broken and games using it aren't working for me
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 16:59
Lutris broke for me, idk whats the cause cuz I have not touched the drivers besides updates in the update manager on Linux Mint 21.1. Need for Speed Most Wanted shows nothing but a black screen. Battlefield 2 and COD2 crash. I'm not going to try and fix anything until I have someone either with a similar issue or had it fixed. Currently running Nvidia drivers version 550 (recommended ones) on a gtx 1650
Revisited 6.12.9-207.nobara.fc41.x86_64 vs 6.12.8-201.fsync.fc41.x86_64 and added Windows 10 19045 and retested with R7 5700 X3D | 54 benchmark runs for 3 benchmarks
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 15:44
So, last time i posted the 6.12.9 vs 6.12.8 benchmark I got suggested to to more tests because last time I did only one benchmark run on each kernel:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1i2xjmy/what_a_difference_a_kernel_makes/
This time a tested 3 different benchmarks on the same two kernels as in the previous post plus I added Windows 10 19045 results and added the same benchmarks with the newly arrived Ryzen 7 5700X3D.
Right out of the bat, I have to say that there is something borked in the way Wukong Benchmark handles settings. I discovered it by accidentally reapplying the settings from the original post.
To cut a long story short, the improvement isn't as impressive as in the original post. The minimal FPS is now ~20% higher between the two kernels, with the rest having slightly lower (~1,1%) in the 6.12.9 kernel.
Couldn't get the tables to show properly, so I'm posting a screenshot of the results spreadsheet for each benchmark along with the screenshots of the results them selves.
Here are the results:
Wukong Benchmark R5 1600 / R7 5700 X3D - The minimal FPS is better on the new kernel and Linux seems to generally perform better than Windows:
Horizon Zero Dawn R5 1600 / R7 5700 X3D - Again, the minimal FPS improves 16-18% but this time Windows 10 performs a bit over 8% better:
Working Hotas joystick curves with either joystick gremlin or something else
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 15:17
So, as stated on the title. I have thrustmaster T.Flight and am trying to create some imput curves, but can't get joystick gremlin to work due to it not being able to recognize that i installed Vjoy on my system( when i try to run Jgremlin through wine it says it can't detect Vjoy and refuses to continue the opening process). Os used is arch linux. Is there another software that can do this sort of stuff? or a way to get Joystick gremlin to work? i've seen people recommend antimicrox and sc-controller, but both of those are geared towards pads( ps4/5, xbox etc)
Balatro capped at 30FPS on proton
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 14:35
Hi ! I recently set up a dual boot, with it I installed steam and started trying out games on Linux. In general, the performance have been moderately worse than Windows but manageable. One outlier though is Balatro, which runs at a very poor 30 FPS.
System information :
- Distro : Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) x86_64
- Kernel : 6.1.0-30-amd64
- CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics
- GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile
- Running on Xorg (cinnamon)
I don't know much about drivers so I'll leave you with this :
$ vulkaninfo | grep "driver" driverVersion = 22.3.6 (92286982) driverID = DRIVER_ID_MESA_RADV driverName = radv driverInfo = Mesa 22.3.6 driverUUID = 414d442d-4d45-5341-2d44-525600000000 driverUUID = 414d442d-4d45-5341-2d44-525600000000 driverID = DRIVER_ID_MESA_RADV driverName = radv driverInfo = Mesa 22.3.6 VK_KHR_driver_properties : extension revision 1 driverVersion = 535.216.1.64 (2247491648) driverID = DRIVER_ID_NVIDIA_PROPRIETARY driverName = NVIDIA driverInfo = 535.216.01 driverUUID = 1f965d0f-b9fd-55ec-a984-67cb1a8104e0 driverUUID = 1f965d0f-b9fd-55ec-a984-67cb1a8104e0 driverID = DRIVER_ID_NVIDIA_PROPRIETARY driverName = NVIDIA driverInfo = 535.216.01 VK_KHR_driver_properties : extension revision 1 driverVersion = 0.0.1 (1) driverID = DRIVER_ID_MESA_LLVMPIPE driverName = llvmpipe driverInfo = Mesa 22.3.6 (LLVM 15.0.6) driverUUID = 6c6c766d-7069-7065-5555-494400000000 driverUUID = 6c6c766d-7069-7065-5555-494400000000 driverID = DRIVER_ID_MESA_LLVMPIPE driverName = llvmpipe driverInfo = Mesa 22.3.6 (LLVM 15.0.6) VK_KHR_driver_properties : extension revision 1
Balatro runs on my GPU as seen using nvidia-smi :
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | NVIDIA-SMI 535.216.01 Driver Version: 535.216.01 CUDA Version: 12.2 | |-----------------------------------------+----------------------+----------------------+ | GPU Name Persistence-M | Bus-Id Disp.A | Volatile Uncorr. I have already tried setting my CPU governor to performance (considering such a low framerate could be explained by the CPU being on power saving mode).
My steam launch options are : __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia gamemoderun %command%. I am running on Proton Experimental as advised on protonDB.
I have disabled cached shaders due to a bug that made steam re-download everything every time I launched a game, and I didn't want to download 800MB of data every time I want to play something. (I'm guessing it shouldn't affect Balatro's - the 60MB 2D pixelated game - performance)
I have tried everything in the video options of the game, toggling VSync, fullscreen, etc... I find it both ironic and annoying that my laptop that can run pretty much any modern game at a steady 144fps dies on Balatro.
Thanks in advance for your help !
steam cloud saves take very long to upload/verify
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 14:03
Hi there,
so as the title says - steam cloud saves take very long to verify/upload for some reason. I am pretty sure its not my internet and Im wondering if I am missing something in linux that causes it?
Not sure if this was always a case for me in linux (i daily drive it for around half a year now) but it surely started getting on my nerves now since i sometimes have to wait several minutes before I can launch a game otherwise my saves (that I have on my drive) get deleted which happened to me a few days ago in fallout 4.
I run cachyOS (arch fork), kernel 6.13.0 kde plasma 6.2.5, r7 5700x3d, rx 6950xt, 32gb ram, steam/os are on nvme. Various speedtests show my download speed as download 250-300 mbps, upload 25mbps. I have my download region (in steam) set up to one which is basically in the city I live in and i have no other network issues. Steam is native, not flatpak.
FF VII Rebirth AMD crashes?
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 13:43
Curious if anyone has found any remedies for this. I am running Rebirth on a 7900 XTX and 5700x3D on Bazzite in a gamescope session. I’m finding no matter what settings mitigations I do to lower resource use I still get a hard crash every 10-20 minutes.
Typically in cutscenes, the image will hang for a few moments, then my video will cut out entirely, then steam BPM will restart, but the OS session persists. Seems like a GPU timeout if I had to guess.
So far I’ve tried proton experimental (default), and proton ge 9 23 but not much seemed to change in terms of stability.
I know some have been playing the game with no issues on Linux and AMD so I am not sure what the difference is. If it matters my output source is a 4k tv at 60 hz and I am using HDR, though i tried without and crashes still happened.
Lock Screen during playing Elden Ring
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 13:38
Hey,
I've got a problem during playing Elden Ring for some days now and I don't really know where to begin with finding the solution anymore. After a certain period of time active playing Elden Ring (and an appropriate amount of dying there) the lock screen would appear, like I was not using my PC for some time at all.
When SotE came out there was no problem, but now it seems to occur (after some months I wanted to play it again) and now I can't say where the specific point was where it might have changed in the past. I already tried some things in the screensaver and energy settings, but the result was the same. It is like the PC doesn't recognise the inputs of the controller as, well, inputs.
As OS I use LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) with the following specs:
https://preview.redd.it/4i1lequl0cfe1.png?width=565&format=png&auto=webp&s=96577a20a7e8cad51d992641212fef6a323a5e73
Elden Ring I run with Proton Experimental (Steam). As input device I use a GuliKit NS09 (also detected via Steam).
Everything works flawlessly, like some months befor. The only difference now is the problem with the locking screen.
Any ideas what I can do? I really have no idea where the source of the problem could lie.
Thank you!
GTA V
Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. Januar 2025 - 13:00
Hi,
I fixed a few things related to GTA V, including installing ProtonGE. That helped the textures stay on even after a couple of missions. But sometime later, the game stutters and freezes. Is there anything I can do.
I am playing this game through Steam, and I'm careful not to play online due to Battleye implementation.
