Mouse occasionally lagging on Linux but not on Windows
Just bought a wireless SteelSeries mouse and experiencing an issue I have not experienced before - whenever my laptop is doing something somewhat resource-intensive (running a game), the mouse movement occasionally stutters in bursts, sometimes outright disconnecting the mouse (the mouse's LED indicator flashes for 1-2 seconds as if it is not attempting to (re)connect).
I've used two different wireless mice with the same system before (all 2.4 GHz as well) and have not experienced this issue. I reduced the new mouse's polling rate to 125 and to 500 Hz and the issue seemed to occur less frequently, but still happens regularly.
This only occurs on my KDE Plasma (NixOS) system - on Windows (with the proprietary SteelSeries software installed, have not tested without), no matter how much I have running on the system, the mouse moves smoothly.
Any ideas on what the cause might be and if this may be fixable on Linux or if I might need to buy a different mouse?

How can the protondb people rationally give GTA a gold rating when half the game isn't working and the stock configuration won't even launch on most systems.
I think clearly a overhaul is needed to the rating system.

Having a black screen when opening Steam and clicking Library? (more details in comments)
How Do I Get Proprietary NVIDIA Drivers working with secure boot enabled?
Recently, I switched my MSI Raider GE68 HX 13V to Fedora Linux. For several reasons (mainly due to my RGB keyboard not functioning without secure boot and the extra security secure boot provides), I want to keep secure boot enabled. However, this prevents the Proprietary NVIDIA Drivers I downloaded using RPM Fusion from working. How do I get the drivers running while secure boot is on? I do not know much about linux, so I am hoping to find a simple, safe solution.

EVE Frontier?
Anyone had any luck installing and launching EVE Frontier on Linux? Specifically Debian. Tried bottles, tried wine-staging, lutris, and proton. Closest I got was with wine-staging, I was able to install the launcher and download the client, but the client just crashes immediately on launch. Anyone had any luck?

Battlefront 2 MASSIVE input lag using mouse&keyboard (not controller)
OBS keep asking me about recorded windows
When I run OBS Studio on Manjaro (KDE, xWayland), Pipewire always asks me which windows to share - it doesn't remember my choices, even though I select the option to have it do just that. It's not a total disaster, but it's quite annoying. Do you know of a solution for this?

Steam input not working with HDR
Finally gaming in HDR is possible in gnome/amd without gamescope. I got gnome HDR running in games, with Proton-GE 10.4 and the following steam run command:
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 %command%
However my. box controller does not work if steam input is enabled. Any idea what the problem could be?

The 9070XT is making it really hard not to go back to windows...
I've been running arch with my 9070xt for about a month now, and haven't gone in to windows for essentially anything. But the frequent crashes in the amdgpu driver for the 9070XT are absolutely soul crushing. I have crashed 4 times this morning (full system lock, tty to reboot) and lost progress in expedition 33 every single time.
This amdgpu driver instability is the thing that's going to force me to go back to windows temporarily even though I have no desire to. I'm following the open bugs about this, and have provided dmesg logs etc to the open bugs, but to date there isn't a resolution that I'm aware of.
I should say, this isn't exclusive to expedition 33, it's most games using the gpu (sometimes it crashes just using desktop applications). I really hope this gets sorted soon!

Gaming on Linux for me
So I just wanted to share the experience I had with gaming on linux. Im very pleased and it was smoother than previous attempts.
Background: Ive been able to get my games running in the past, wine to get StarCraft running. So I have that as experience. At some point I had tried SteamOS but found the compatibility wasn’t there.
Yesterday, I installed fedora 42, opened software and installed steam. Noticed that the install button was grayed out, so I went to preferences and enabled compatibility (cant remember if steam restarted or my desktop) either way, then it came back on, I now saw the install button, great! After the smooth install, I ran the game but noticed 14 fps, so I immediately knew it was running off the iGPU. I opened software again and installed nvidia drivers. Ran the game again and got 100 fps.
Great experience overall! Almost getting to excellent!
I think Im ready to completely ditch windows.
Thank you to all the developers that made this dream possible. Let me know how I can buy you a beer or coffee or tea.

18 years of Windows journey ended finally
Decided to switch Linux mint. So far this is good. I hope one day anticheat systems can run on Linux as well. For instance faceit anticheat.
Why not the anticheats are not running on Linux?? Can someone explain me?
Enough of Windows

Best OS for Ayaneo 2
Hi everyone
Actually I have bazzite on my Ayaneo 2. But I asked myself many times, is there any better OS for Ayaneo 2? I have games from GOG, Steam, Epic and other sources to install.
Maybe somebody here knows the answer or have a suggestion?
Cheers

We need a really big push, and it could come from China, whether you like it or not.
Although the percentage of Linux users for gaming has increased in recent years, it is clear that it has only progressed from an ant to a beetle, still nothing compared to the market share of Windows.
With the entry of Steamdex and SteamOS, developers have made more optimizations for Linux through Proton, but as the statistics clearly show, it is still very small and almost only with games on Steam, while games from other launchers are almost blind people finding their way.
Recently, with the appearance of Harmony OS, I had a dream, although it is quite unrealistic. Currently, HarmonyOS is only available on Huawei computers and it is ARM-based. It will take time to see if HarmonyOS can gain a large market share in China. It is very possible that Huawei will get government support to develop market share, but it will need to be released on the x86 platform to be popular on current PCs. At this point, big names like Steam, Epic, EA,... can change their policies to support Linux more.
But whatever, that's still just a dream. But do you think my speculation will become a reality?

Which distro to switch to from windows 10?
Recently ive been having way so many BSOD that i just couldnt do anything productive on my pc. Ive tried seemingly everything to get them to stop appearing but i was ultimately unsuccessful. The only options i was left with were buying new ram in hopes that would fix it or install a new OS. Instead of installing windows 10 or 11(eww) i thought of finally installing linux as my main OS which i wanted to do for a while now.
I have a little experience with ubuntu from school but i heard i shouldn't really use that one. Ive done some surface level research and found out that Mint, Pop_os, Bazzite and Nobara are really good for gaming. Out of the 4 distros which one would you recommend me?
Dont know if it matters or not but i use wireless peripherals such as razer basilisk v3 pro and logitech g435. My pc has a ryzen 5 3600, gtx 1650 super and 16gb of ram. I play games from roblox, steam and gog launchers.

Rocket League on Linux
I know very little about Linux.
Having said that, I would like to switch from Windows to Linux, I accept every advice you have on which distro is better for gaming, but possibly also for work and file management, in short balanced but with a good support gaming side. For example not Bazzite, I see it a little to much focused on gaming, and navigating with controller only basically.
Anyway
The real question is, can you play Rocket League?
Unfortunately I am an avid Rocket League player and this is currently pulling me back from making the switch from W11. Since most of the support for gaming on Linux comes from Steam, and outside of this it seems to me that there is little or no support.
As the link says, Epic Games talk about how there is no longer support for Linux, but I saw online people who can play it, for example with "Heroic Launcher", but looking deeper (even here on Reddit), I see some who have a lot of problems to make it work, or even restrictions such as playing only offline.
Are there "launchers" that allow Epic Games's games to run? And are they reliable?
Thanks :)

Can amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff by itself cause system instability?
I had a weird problem where modded Skyrim on linux caused the system to restart, while on windows, every game i played shut down the computer mid playing.
I have no idea what caused it, but it's not happening anymore.
Now... I had CoolerControl installed before, and as a troubleshooting step, i uninstalled it and removed the amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff kernel parameter as well. But around that time, as well as other factors, the PC stopped restarting, so i have no idea about the cause.
I want to install CoolerControl again to control the fan speed of the GPU, because, the the default fan speed ramp up is so painfully slow that i think the GPU will damage itself. I've seen the hotspot go to 115C while the fans are still slowly and gently blowing a breeze at 500RPM. Idk who thought this is a good idea, but i'm not happy about it.
Furthermore, i upgraded the CPU, and got an AIO liquid cooler which produces some annoying whistling frequency at certain low % of fan/pump speed, so i want to make sure it's always running at least above that.
But i'm afraid the kernel parameter will make the computer unstable again. Is that even possible?
And i'm not talking about adding the kernel parameter, then undervolting the GPU by 70% and wondering why the system doesn't work, i'm talking about just the kernel parameter itself. Because it does expose voltage control, and power control as well as fan control to everything, and i'm not sure if anything is taking control of it that shouldn't be.
Because, last time i used LACT for example, the computer crashed when i tried to change any value, even fan speed. CoolerControl didn't crash immediately, but i've set up the GPU fan speed to be constant (to avoid slow ramp ups), and at that time, the resets were happening, so i have no idea if this is somehow related to exposing the GPU control in any way.
I guess i can enable it, then if restarts happen again, it's probably that. But restarts like that are scary and idk if they can damage the hardware in any way because i did get some error messages relating to hardware the next boot (and only next boot, every subsequent boot, there were no hardware error messages).
Any advice would be appreciated!
