Feels like PC is not used at its full potential
Hey, on games I have this weird thing where the FPS is quite average / low (40 - 50), when neither the CPU nor the GPU is used at 100%. Could there be something else throttling or is it maybe more of a software issue ? Temps seem to be OK.
Now, I don't have low FPS on every game ; but demanding games, which I would expect to use every drop of ressources available, don't seem to do so.
I use the performance GNOME setting and gamemoderun for each of my games.

Help needed for Discord app on CachyOS
Hi all! I am at a loss on the issue I'm having regarding using OBS virtual camera in a Discord stream on the flatpak install version. OBS works and virtual camera operates normally, Discord functions fine outside of the problem I'm having. Basically, when I share my screen and pick the "share a device" option for the OBS virtual camera, it just loads infinitely and never actually streams anything successfully. Sharing my screen works, and sharing apps works, but sharing the OBS virtual camera never loads in. Has anyone run into this and found a solution? Thanks for any help provided!

Curious case of disappearing prefixes
Yesterday I renamed my "Battle.net Launcher.exe" in the steam game list to be just "Battle.net Launcher". Today I tried to launch it and nothing happened. I went to look for the launcher file in the correspoding path folder, but the entire prefix had disappeared.
Luckily my Diablo 2 saves were in a different prefix and as a cautionary action I copied them to my home folder. I proceeded to reinstall battlenet launcher as usual and after completing it both my Diablo 2 and Hearthstone prefixes were gone and at least I couldn't find them.
Has anyone had similar experiences with prefixes being deleted? I'm running Bazzite KDE.

Steam is unable to rumble my controller.
Hello.
I just woke up one today to realise that - for no reason - steam stopped to rumble the controller.
At first I thought was the controller rumble was broken or something. I used the Steam's settings > controller > test device inputs and when clicking the rumble button nothing happens.
I've ran the fftest and verified that the hardware is fine and rumbling, so I'm not sure why Steam can't do it. I tried a guide posted here 3y ago but did not work.
Any ideas and how to get that rumble back?
Controller is the ps5 dualsense wireless, put always on the wire.
It was working yesterday!
Thanks.

Legion GO - Distro test
Recently I’ve bought Lenovo Legion Go (amazing for indie and older games with tablet mode).
First OS of choice for me was Bazzite and I was running it for a week… But You know how it is with Linux... You want to check what other hand held distros have to offer, so I did it yesterday.
Here are my finds (spoiler alter, I’ve reinstalled Bazzite).
SteamOS
- Easy to install, no keyboard is required;
- GameMode runs fine, but without Decky I was missing configuration options, QuickSetting menu is more clunky compared to Bazzite, very smooth performance;
- DesktopMode was unusable for me, outdated Plasma with X session and scaling issues;
CatchyOS
- A little bit harder to install, keyboard is required, systemd-boot menu is displayed on boot;
- GameMode; QuickSetting menu has all configuration option for LegionGO with additional overlay (same as bazzite), severe performance issues in low power mode;
- DesktopMode – usable, with mallit keyboard installed by default, scaling issues with SteamKeyboard and Steam (when exiting big picture mode);
Nobara
- Live session, keyboard is required - no issues with installation;
- Both GameMode and DesktopMode: overall clunky experience with tools provided by the distro - unusable for me;
- Controller was detected as DualSense, no overlay by default to easily change it;
Bazzite
- No live session, boot directly into installer, keyboard is required;
- GameMode: no issues, QuickSettings with additional Overlay for more in-depth configuration are easily accessible, slight performance issues with how TDP settings are working on LegionGO;
- DesktopMode: missing mallit keyboard (there is a script for a one-click installation), update tool runs in terminal (may be scary for some people) but other than that – no issues;

steam "Compatibility Tool Failed" on pop!_os
Some games on steam will get this error, no matter what proton version it is.

Just installed an AMD 9060 XT into my PC and I'm having various issues in Pop!_OS
So today I swapped out the old Nvidia card in my PC with a new Radeon RX 9060 XT, and I'm encountering issues that I didn't have with the Nvidia card, issues that are difficult for me to pinpoint and I think I'll need some help.
First things first, things appear to be running smoothly in Pop OS. However, when I open Steam, and it's sort of hard to describe, but the window "copies" the desktop behind it, becoming the main window, kinda like a screenshot. I have to close and re-open the steam window just to get it to show the actual steam interface.
The second problem was encountered when running Red Dead Redemption 2, the game I like to use to benchmark, and the little window that pops up which should be the Rockstar Games Launcher just appears black and Pop OS repeatedly brings up a dialogue telling me the program is not responding. I had a similar issue when launching the Silent Hill 2 remake, though upon launching that game it didn't show anything at all and softlocked my computer, which forced me to restart.
Another little thing, which is probably a non issue but I figured I'd bring it up anyway: the fans on the GPU are spinning in the bios, but they aren't spinning while in the desktop, which I presume to be the GPU's 0rpm mode in action. Though I'm not entirely sure if that's the case, and it would be nice to know.
Anyways, these issues I figured were caused by my original Pop install, that being the Nvidia version, so I reinstalled Pop from scratch (now the standard/AMD version), reinstalled RDR2, and the same issues arose once again. Hours of troubleshooting later, hopeless and unable to find answers, I now find myself here. Also, yes the display cable is plugged into the GPU.
So if I could get any kind of help on this it would be fantastic as I have yet to actually test the new GPU. But for now I'm gonna have to sleep on it and hope these oddities can be sorted out soon.

Best cloud gaming service for Linux Mint?
GeforceNOW: No native Linux application, 60FPS with 4k resolution but frame freezes every 5 seconds, even when I was able to enable hardware acceleration (As seen in chrome//gpu) it still felt like there were frame freezes
Boosteroid: Recently got it because there was a native Linux application and I assumed it might work more smoothly, it's pretty blurry, no frame freezes but it's a consistent 45fps or similar instead of 60 FPS
When I used GeforceNOW on my Windows desktop, it performed phenomenally, so I know it can't be the wifi thats the issue. Anyone have success with cloud gaming services on Linux that you'd recommend? Would like to hear your thoughts :3

I "found" why KDE don't feel smooth on newer NVIDIA cards.
KDE feels bad on newer Nvidia cards. Its not smooth enough, constant fps drops. And i finally found "fix" in Arch Wiki Tips and Tricks for NVIDIA https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA/Tips_and_tricks under section 8.2
options nvidia NVreg_RegistryDwords="PerfLevelSrc=0x2222"This command locks frequencies to max level. And this works. KDE now is buttery smooth. It's just incredible. But now my powerdraw doubled. Its 40-50W on idle. I think this is unacceptable.
RTX4080, wayland.

Should I dual boot windows for CS2?
Long time cs player here who recently switched to bazzite. Cs2 is not running well, quite low settings and significantly lower fps than on windows. Also a lot more fps drops and stutter.
Ryzen 5 5500 5700xt
Was playing around 150 fps average on windows, extremely inconsistent on linux. Happy to dual boot for cs2 alone if that's the easiest fix. If anyone has ideas let me know, thanks fellas.
