I play Elite Dangerous keybinds keep resetting to empty after relaunching game on Arch Linux
Hey everyone,
I'm playing on Arch Linux, and every time I exit and relaunch the game, all my keybinds get wiped, not reset to defaults, just completely empty. I have to rebind everything from scratch each time.
Not sure if it’s relevant, but I have three keyboard layouts enabled on my system: Russian, English, and Ukrainian.
Has anyone experienced something like this? Any idea how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Power plan switches by itself when launching a game
Howdy, has anyone encountered this issue?
Whenever I launch a game from Steam, the power plan switches to "High Performance". It reverts after closing the game.
This is actually very unhelpful, because I am trying to game on battery, and on my laptop, "High Performance" gives 30% more fps than "Battery Saver", but draws 2.5 times more power.
I am currently using a Nobara. I have tried uninstalling gamemode, but it had no effect. Neither did disabling mangohud.

Proton Experimental updated to fix the Epic Games Store and a few games
Can I play League of Legends with GPU passthrough (QEMU/KVM)?
Hey everyone,
Lately I’ve been learning about QEMU/KVM and the whole GPU passthrough (VFIO) setup, and it’s really piqued my interest. I’m thinking of switching fully to Linux, but League of Legends is the one thing holding me back.
So I’m wondering:
- Can League run properly in a Windows VM with GPU passthrough?
- Any issues with Riot’s anti-cheat or VM detection in 2025?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Has anyone OC/Undervolted their Nvidia GPU in Linux?
I have a 4070 Super from MSI and I know about software like LACT, but how the hell do I translate an undervolt guide for MSI Afterburner to something like LACT? All the undervolt/oc guides have to do with setting a curve for the voltage, which I did on Windows 10, but there aren't options like that in LACT and I know that's on Nvidia, but in LACT you have Core Clock and Memory Clock options and wattage. So I'm not sure where to set the Core Clock at, or the Wattage. I just have an idea of where to set the Memory Clock to.

ELDEN RING fps comparison on Steam Deck using FrameGen
Completely vanilla ER ran like absolute crap for me, very unstable 30 - 34 fps if you were standing still but the second you did anything it’d drop to 20. This was running on all low graphical settings and also using a smaller resolution then using the decks inbuilt tools to stretch the image to fill the screen. After all of that the game still ran poorly and there was no more tweaks I could within the base came to improve it.
After doing some research I came across a mod that would enable frame gen. At the cost of minor input lag the game now runs completely stable 45 very very rarely dropping down to 40, graphic settings mostly on high, a few of the less important things are set to low to gain a few frames too. The improvement is crazy, like I said there is a bit of input lag but it’s honestly not that noticeable once you start playing and get used to it, the way I see it it’s either that or I don’t play the game on my deck because of how badly it runs it makes doing anything impossible.
Considering the steam deck runs Linux this mod would also work for anyone who has a lower end gaming pc and has Linux, I’m sure there are plenty of mods for a lot of other games out there that do the same thing too.

How do I Enable Flatpak Mangohud in Flatpak PCSX2 or any apps that are not launched from Steam/Heroic/Lutris.
Hello,
I like to enable Mangohud in PCSX2 but I don´t know how to do it and Googling hasn´t come up with any results.
The shortcut to run PCSX2 is:
/usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=pcsx2-qt net.pcsx2.PCSX2
How must I edit this to have Mangohud enabled?
I'm on Linux Mint by the way.

Is fedora good for gaming
For now I use Ubuntu but I want to switch on Fedora. I use my computer mainly for gaming and on Ubuntu I was having big input lag or stuttering if I wasn't having as much fps as Hz on my monitor. I was wondering if I switch on Fedora this would stop. + I don't like snaps

Wayland troubles
Hey guys, so there's a lot of news on how gnome, fedora and Ubuntu are completely dropping X org. I get it Wayland has matured. X org is a dinosaur.
But I've had nothing but issues and naggles on Wayland. I switched fully to Linux a little over a year ago. Some of the issues and snags was fixed simply moving to X11.
With the recent news I've decided to try Wayland again and try and figure some issues out.
In Wayland. Windows and apps can freeze more. Running pretty much anything on steam causes games to show "steam_app_123" may not be responding. With close or wait buttons in a constant loop. (But the games generally are just loading up fine) it's just very annoying.
Some apps steam some reason jumps to the foreground. Sometimes causing issues and crashes.
Heroic behaves exactly the same. Non steam games and wine programs become unstable.
And generally the system is slightly more sluggish.
On X11 other than a longer boot up into the desktop. Everything works as intended, stable and snappy.
Any advice to diagnose and fix Wayland? Now would be the time to learn how display servers work. I was using Nvidia drivers (1050ti) then moved to AMD. (6600 XT) Early on when I made the switch.

Help choosing a Linux distro for gaming, OBS, DaVinci Resolve, and Photoshop (dual-boot setup)
Hey everyone,
I’m planning to switch to Linux but still dual boot Windows for some specific games and occasional compatibility. Here’s my situation:
- My PC has older specs but a good GPU (RTX 3060 Ti).
- I mainly use my PC for gaming (Steam and some Windows-only games), recording/streaming with OBS, editing videos for YouTube (DaVinci Resolve), and some photo work (Photoshop).
- I’m already somewhat familiar with Steam Deck and have experience messing around with SteamOS, modding, and trying stuff by trial and error.
- I’d like a distro that works well out of the box with NVIDIA drivers and has good support for OBS and gaming in general.
- I’m not afraid to learn and try things, but I’d prefer something that doesn’t require constant fixing after updates.
- I plan to dual boot. Windows will be installed on one drive, and Linux on another.
A couple of specific questions:
- Which distro would you recommend for my use case? I’m considering Pop!_OS, Nobara, or Manjaro but open to other suggestions.
- If my second drive is Windows, and I download files while booted into Linux, can I save them on the Windows drive and access them normally when I boot back into Windows?
- Any tips for handling DaVinci Resolve and Photoshop on Linux without a ton of headaches?
Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry if these questions are basic—I just want to be sure before I commit to dual booting.

Current nvidia state on linux - my thoughts
Many people claim that nvidia is "slower" or "much slower" in linux than in windows. My personal experience is different - I feel there is *no performance difference*.
So I did some tests, and found that at least in some games it's exactly like that: no difference.
GPU: RTX 5070, open linux driver version 570, windows driver 576.
Game: World of Warcraft (retail version 11.x), exact same scene and graphics settings in both cases. Also did tests in cyberpunk 2077 with similar results.
Linux OS: debian 12 stable + xanmod kernel 6.11.14 + wine 10.7 ntsync enabled
Windows OS: win 11 LTSC IoT
^ debian
^ windows.
Am I missing something?

Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 no longer detecting some of my peripherals
For some reason my throttle and rudder pedals stopped being recognized by both versions of MS Flight Sim the joystick is detected fine as well as my xbox controller , I have tired most things to troubleshoot and I am unsure what is going on.
-Changed USB ports
-Confirmed working in other games
-Tried to see if drivers were the issue (they were not)
Both games are running on Proton GE (latest) on Linux Mint (latest) AMD Ryzen 5800X3D and 7700XT (Kisak PPA drivers)
I have read somewhere that disabling the steam controller in Steam settings can fix the issue but this has not changed anything either.
If anyone managed to get all their controllers working please let me know how.

- DE: Gnome 48

How to get Sims 4 on Cachy OS
Hi, to start off I do not have linux myself, my boyfriend does. So idk if I spelt the name of his linux right haha, anyways, he’s been trying to get the sims 4 on his pc for about a month now and it doesn’t work at all. He can download EA and “install” the sims 4 but then cannot open the game, does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? He’s tried a bunch of things (i think) and nothing seems to work. He’s also tried using steam. Please give advice because I miss my sims (he deleted microsoft)

Marvel Rivals refuses to work on my system
Hey all, I've been completely unable to get past the logo screen for a couple of months now. The problem occurs after a while of playing/playing and then quitting, I get the error shown in the image. Pressing cancel to debug doesn't actually pull up a debugger, just quits the game outright and pulls up the crash reporter. I'm really curious as to how something like this has happened, given I use the default Steam proton versions that I presumably haven't touched. I'd appreciate any help!
specifics:
- I've used most of Steam's proton versions
- I've looked at Proton DB, no one there seems to have my problem
- The crashing happens even if I uninstall and reinstall
- I've googled the error in the past and found nothing of value
- specs are down below, in full (if there's a more pleasant way of adding this much text, I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could let me know!)
If I need to give any more information, just ask.
And, thank you!
