Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball has received Update 10.4 on Steam, which also runs on Linux.
Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball is a multiplayer shooter where unicycle robots battle each other with dodgeballs in neon-drenched disco arenas. This update focuses on improved bot AI and a new Photo Mode for singleplayer modes. It follows quickly after Update 10.3.
Improved Bot AI
- Bots can cancel throws
- Bots Will only identify threats within their cone of vision (160 degrees)
- Reduced bots getting caught on level geometry
- Bots are Better at moving to path targets that are directly beneath them (instead of wobbling back and forth on a platform)
- Bots have overall greater freedom of movement, especially when making jumps
- Reduced bot hesitancy to throw when shooting at a hoop
- Reduced bot cooldown that happens after a throw (still has some cooldown for easier bots)
- Bots in Training mode are easier to hit
- Increased bot accuracy when throwing at hoops
- Bots are smarter about discarding a ball - they’ll take a shot with their regular ball if there is one available
- Bots will move to the predicted position of a target moving ball instead of chasing it to where it currently is
Photo Mode
- In singleplayer modes, you can enter Photo Mode from the ESC menu. It pauses the game, lets you fly around the free camera, take photos with LMB, slowly advance time with F, pause / unpase with space, and randomize the lights with R
Misc Improvements
- Experimental: External audio visualizer now works on macOS 14.2+. Pick “External audio” as the music source, and the arena lights will follow whatever is playing on the Mac. Unlike Windows and Linux, macOS can’t isolate a single app, so all other system audio (browser, voice chat, notifications) affects the lights. Auto source selection, track names and skip controls aren’t available on Mac. macOS will ask for permission to record system audio the first time.
- Fixed bug: displayed PvE scores were including KOs from bot teammates
- Super Balls and Power Cubes have more strict positional sync, since they are most likely to be in different states and ball teleportation is much worse for them since they are objectives
- Fixed bug that made it hard to catch a ball in training mode
