Hidden in Plain Sight: free online multiplayer DLC released

A free DLC for Hidden in Plain Sight is now available for Linux on Steam: “Online Multiplayer”.

The DLC is for Hidden in Plain Sight, released back in 2014, a local multiplayer stealth party game: you blend into a crowd of AI characters and have to eliminate the other players before they get you. After more than a decade, the game can now be played online too - with up to 8 players.

Invites go out directly via the Steam friends list, or streamers can share a lobby code. There is deliberately no public matchmaking or lobbies for playing with strangers.

Important!

Hidden in Plain Sight is a game that is best played in the same room with friends and family. Just like a video call is inferior to real in-person interaction, playing this game online may not match the chaotic energy of playing shoulder-to-shoulder. If you are able, I highly encourage you to gather and play together in person.

However, circumstances sometimes drive loved ones apart. It’s not always possible to get together and play games. This DLC is for people who are willing to accept that, while not optimal, playing online can still be a fun and bonding experience.

Hidden in Plain Sight was always intended for friends and family. In this online update, hosts can invite Steam Friends directly, or streamers may wish to share a lobby code. The game does not have any sort of public matchmaking or lobbies or playing with random strangers.
