MODIFY: minimalistic puzzle game about system manipulation released

MODIFY is now available on Steam.

In this minimalist top-down puzzle game, players take on the role of a process that shouldn’t be running and change object properties - like weight, clearance, or behavior - to solve puzzles. The game costs 11.25€.

MODIFY is a minimalist top-down puzzle game about doing things you were never authorized to do.

You are a process that shouldn’t be running. The machine around you is clean, orderly and rule-bound — until you start editing it. Change what an object weighs. Change what it’s allowed to do. Change how it THINKS. Watch what happens.

You don’t solve the puzzle. You rewrite it.

Every object has properties, and every property is yours to move. Make a crate too heavy to push, or light enough to ride a switch. Steal a door’s clearance and wear it yourself. Turn a plain box into a live wire. There are no keys to find and nothing to fight. The only thing that gets stronger is how well you understand the system.

Every chapter changes the rules.

No trick lasts long enough to get stale. Each act hands you a new way to think: Inversion zones where heavy reads as light and every sensor lies. Entangle objects so one change hits everything bound to it. SWAP with other objects to get the properties you need. XOR and NOT doors that make you think like a machine.

Build it. Break it. Share it.

The tools that built the campaign ship with it. A full in-game level editor lets you place objects, wire up logic, playtest as you go, and publish straight to the Steam Workshop. Browse, subscribe and rate what everyone else is building.

Moddable to its core. MODIFY is built to be… well… modified. Drop-in file modding means a single file next to the game lets you add a brand-new object to the editor and Workshop - no source code, no build step, no engine required. The game is DRM-free and staying that way.
