Dark Castle: 1986 cult classic released

Dark Castle is now available on Steam for Linux.

The game is a 1-bit cinematic puzzle-platformer from 1986, in which hero Duncan storms the Black Knight’s castle armed with rocks - precise movement, aimed combat and room-sized puzzles included. The title costs 10.25 €.

Before precision platforming had a name, Dark Castle was already testing players with deadly timing, comic hazards, and unforgettable black-and-white style. Originally released for Macintosh in 1986, this classic action game helped define what personal computer games could feel like: cinematic, strange, funny, and brutally memorable.

Step into the boots of Duncan as he storms the Black Knight’s castle, armed with rocks, quick reflexes, and very little room for error. Every chamber is a compact gauntlet of guards, rats, bats, ropes, ledges, traps, and perfectly mistimed disaster.

This re-release brings back one of the great cult classics of the original Macintosh era for retro fans, collectors, and players who love hard-earned victories. Dark Castle is tough, weird, funny, and still ready to punish the bold.
