So, I just got an AMD RX 7900 GRE in order to make a console-like PC.

I have tried lots of games on windows, chimeraOS, and bazzite, and bazzite is the only one giving me this issues on some specific games.

Elden ring on windows and chimera OS work perfect, 60fps at 1440p at high settings, and 55fps same settings but with high ray tracing. But on bazzite, at 1440p high settings and even medium settings, I'm getting plenty of fps drop and doesn't even maintain a consistent 60fps, it's always fluctuating from 58fps down to 50 up to 5t etc. And, as soon as I turn on Ray tracing, the whole system crashes, I get a stuck Elden ring logo or black screen when startinh the game, and the system reboot by itself or I have to reboot it manually.

Cyberpunk 2077 work perfect on all 3 OS, but as soon as I turn on Ray tracing, I get a black screen and the PC either reboot itself or just get stuck on the black screen.

And, lastly, dead space remake, work perfect on W11 and cOS, but on bazzite, it takes ages to load, like literally, 10 minutes or so to just start the game, and, the menus are slow, super slow like 2-5fps, and in game it runs the same like 5fps, and then after a few minutes it crashes, whether ray tracing is turned on or off.

I have tried proton experimental, latest proton GE, launching the game from desktop mode, and even changing the launch options of the games on steam. Everything is up to date, all software update, apps updates, etc.

I would love to fix the problem and use bazzite, since I don't like chimeraOS too much because of gnome, and I like customization themed and the use of wallpaper engine of KDE, and need the desktop mode to browse and stuff and I just don't like the desktop mode of chimeraOS.

I have tried nobara, but it's not as straightforward as cOS of bazzite, it doesn't have a straightforward game mode and even I tried it my controller wasn't working then with the correct apps and drivers.

So, any help will be appreciated.

I have gotten Nvidia prime what seems to be working by using "prime-run steam". Then I use a launch argument for Left 4 Dead 2 "prime-run %command%!"

Then checking nvtop it shows both my rx 480 & gtx 1070. The 1070 utilization is around 70% at a normal clockspeed and the 480 is around 5-10% at a base clockspeed like 500mhz or something.

The gameplay for l4d2 feels great (not any better) and nvenc worked out of the box regardless even though the 480 is my display and the 1070 isnt hooked up to any hdmi port.

Basically my questions/thoughts are:

Are they sharing the workload of the game (which i don't think because 480 is down clocked)

If the nvidiagpu is doing the work could I technically use DLSS using an amd card (in terms of whats hooked up and if all the drivers was there and the gpu to support)

is this bad or not worth it in any way apart from heat and energy

is it even working or its just buggin

thats just the usage of me being in the lobby for l4d2 not in game fully. but again gtx 1070 which isn't connected to anything in terms of cabled is doing most /all of the work. I knew it offloaded but damn

I want to use compatdata folder from one Steam game in one non-steam game, it's a mod to that Steam game but it's using separate .exe file. The problem is that I want them both to use the same savefiles/configs that are located in appdata which are separated by Proton. Is there a way to do it?

The problem is that there are many distributions that work for kernel reasons (for example, Ubuntu in version 22.04) and I have tried different distros focused on gaming, which is what I want this mini PC for. The problem is that I would not know how to distinguish which kernel will be best for my machine, since my knowledge is not enough.

I have a Winwing Orion 2 HOTAS and it seems to work just find with evtest and Jstest, all buttons and axis work as intended. but i'm having trouble getting them to work on games through wine, games like Falcon 4.0 and Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3.

1. it seems that not all buttons/axis are detected by the game like in evtest

2. these two games detect the throttle and joystick as separate devices but assigns them the same button numbers, for example if the trigger in the stick is button 0, and i assign it to fire the gun, then button 0 in the throttle will also fire the gun

anyone can shed some light into how inputs that are more complex than a gamepad work?

Hey guys. I just wanted to tell you that my small indie game is now available on Linux. Building it from Game Maker was quite a challenge, especially since I lack a strong technical background. After struggling with wsl without much success, a friend stepped in and helped me build it using a vps.

It has been tested on Ubuntu 22.04 and now available on Steam: Another Bar Game.

Previously, I released my debut game Dude, Where Is My Beer? which is also available on Linux. It's a point-and-click adventure game created with Visionaire Studio , which had a super easy Linux export possibilities :)

Hi! I'm wondering if it's possible to use the Intel iGPU in my CPU (i5-13500) to render the KDE desktop but use the dGPU for games (like in Windows, you can switch the GPU per app in settings)

On my dGPU (RTX 3070) everything is very buggy on desktop (both GNOME and KDE, X11 and Wayland) that's why I wanted to see if it's possible. Btw I am using the Nvidia proprietary driver, not noveau (which was even worse).

I am using Fedora 39 KDE.

I’ve spent ages stuffing around with it. Verifying files, many different proton versions, everything. Still no luck, it won’t launch.

The closest I got was using ancient 4.11 proton.

So Im wondering how people that have world of Warcraft and for instance heroes of the storm have it setup?

I installed heroes of the storm, which installed bnet then I had to install through bnet.

I then installed wow through lutris which installed a separate bnet , then installed wow after.

Couple questions; 1. Why TF are these all separated, I know I can just install bnet app in lutris then do it through there but wanted to make sure I got any lutris optimization that we're game specific if any 2. I see I can enable Gamescope through config for each item, but for these it's launching bnet not the game, and really I only want to launch WOW or hots with Gamescope, not bnet launcher
