After intensive testing, we improved the overall stability of Hodj&amp;rsquo;n&amp;rsquo;Podj, Might and Magic: Book One - Secret of the Inner Sanctum, Myst III: Exile, Pilots Brothers 3D and 3D-2, The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: Case of the Rose Tattoo, Nathan&amp;rsquo;s Second Chance, Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror, Discworld 1 and numerous WAGE engine-based games.&#xA;For the platform-specific fixes, Broken Sword 1 plays better on big-endian systems such as PS3, Wii, and OSXPPC. The Atari port has some handcrafted optimizations in the SCUMM engine. There has been a lot of speculation and, in some cases, misinformation spread about what has happened. Our initial announcement perhaps didn’t provide as much detail as we could have, but I want to reassure OpenTTD fans that we have not been “pressured” by Atari to make these changes.&#xA;Atari approached us to explain their plans for the Transport Tycoon Deluxe re-release, and what it might mean for OpenTTD. They are keen to work with us, and hope that the new release will be welcomed by the community who have been playing OpenTTD for the past 20+ years. We discussed these plans, and we understood that a compromise would be needed to balance Atari’s commercial interests (which of course they are entitled to pursue as the rights holder) against the availability of a free, well-developed evolution of the game. The decision was made that access to OpenTTD on these platforms would be conditional, for new players, on purchasing Transport Tycoon Deluxe first, while retaining the ability to download OpenTTD for free from our web site. Some have suggested that we should have chosen to remove OpenTTD from Steam and GOG entirely, but that would have caused unnecessary disruption to the many thousands of people currently enjoying the game on these platforms, and would have potentially prevented new players from discovering the game in future.&#xA;The OpenTTD project owes a lot - indeed, it owes everything - to Transport Tycoon Deluxe and to Chris Sawyer. Without TTD, there would be no OpenTTD - it’s as simple as that. As I covered in 2024, OpenTTD started off as a pretty much perfect clone of TTD, and though the game has evolved almost beyond belief since 2004, it is still rooted in the fundamentals of Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Agreeing to collaborate with Atari on their re-release not only enables you to go back and play the original game as it was in 1995, but helps to ensure OpenTTD remains a thriving project for years to come.&#xA;Additionally, as part of the discussions we held, Atari agreed to make a contribution towards the running costs of our server infrastructure. We also squashed a number of nasty bugs - we do not love them so much.&#xA;Engines and Games Improvements&#xA;The Private Eye engine got a major sound subsystem update, in addition to support for external subtitles. The SCUMM engine had a significant overhaul, and it now supports the original in-game GUI for DOS, Macintosh and Windows. The Humongous Entertainment subengine was fully revisited with practically impeccable compatibility, thanks to the efforts of Bosca. The Stark engine for The Longest Journey now has much better compatibility with graphics cards. The Wintermute engine is undergoing a complete code review with the game compatibility improving daily. Last but not least, the ZVision engine, running Zork Nemesis and Zork: Grand Inquisitor has acquired widescreen support, better sound, and better panorama rendering, upgrading your game experience to a new level all thanks to the work of Thomas N McEwan, who joined our team last year.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

Fixing pixel-errors, moving things around a bit, fixing colouring issues.&#xA;But .. not less important, we now also have a built-in scalable font! Zephyris created a real (TTF) font heavily inspired by the sprite font. This means that scaling looks a lot better, especially for zoom levels like 1.5x.&#xA;We love it so much, it is the default when you launch the game! Bringing information closer to the user, and the game more accessible to everyone, has been a path we have been on for a while.&#xA;Second, we revised a lot of settings, what their default value should be. Many settings have had their defaults changed, mostly towards enabling modern features by default.&#xA;Lastly, we also renamed Cheats to Sandbox. We noticed people were struggling with using “cheats”, as we have been conditioned that cheats in games are bad. But Cheats in OpenTTD context is much more “play how you like” (read: Sandbox). So we renamed it, hopefully making it more clear to new players that it is perfectly okay to use these Sandbox options any time they like.&#xA;Hopefully this helps new players get into the game easier.&#xA;So much more …&#xA;In total OpenTTD 14.0 comes with roughly 40 new features, over 500 bug-fixes, 200 changes, and many many code improvements.&#xA;It took us 2,000 commits to get from 13.4 to 14.0, we touched 140,000 lines of code and removed 74,000 of them.
