SOMA: Update with "Safe Mode" released, Monsters won't kill anymore

For the outstanding Horror-game SOMA an Update including the “Safe Mode” has been released. If you start a new game in “Safe Mode”, Monsters won’t actively hunt you and can’t kill you anymore. Sadly on existing save files, you can’t turn on the “Safe Mode”. But: SOMA is in my opinion one of the best games available on Linux, and you have to play it - with or without “Safe Mode”! You can buy the game at GOG and Steam.

Among the Sleep: Enhanced Edition released for Linux

White Noise 2: Update #7 released with experimental Linux-Fix by Unity Engine-Team

Today the Update #7 (Codename Dark Purpose) for the Horror-Multiplayer-game White Noise 2 has been released for Linux on Steam. It contains besides some new features, improvements and general bugfixes also a special experimental fix for Linux coming straight from the Unity Engine-Team, which should resolve problems by detecting the screen resolution. The developers of the game want your feedback on this issue in the Steam forum.

New features: New special Clue: The Rift. Now recordings can be heard when picking up tapes, like in the original White Noise. Improvements: Added a new insanity effect (it’s up to you to find out!). Added a new distortion effect to the intro panels. Match lobby: Characters with no flashlight selected will be shown holding the random flashlight model. Gameplay changes: Darcy’s Cairn: Reduced base duration of negative effects (Speed reduction, flashlight disabled) from 15 to 10 seconds. Mark duration remains the same. Teleport skill: Increased cooldown to 75 seconds Increased flashlight slowdown by 4% Increased lightstick slowdown by 3% Astaroth: Breakdown effect is cancelled when someone is grabbed Bugfixes: Fixed “near death” effect not restoring right away when using a medkit. Fixed softlock regarding connection error messages. Fixed Sarah’s Shadow skill not working properly. Linux: Should have fixed the “Process not starting issue”. It’s an experimental fix provided by the Unity team, so please report back in the forums.

Today marks the end of the Early-Access-Phase of Layers of Fear and the full game has now been released on Steam. Description:

Layers of Fear is a first-person psychedelic horror game with a heavy focus on story and exploration. Players take control of a painter whose sole purpose is to finish his Magnum Opus. The player must navigate through both a constantly changing Victorian-era mansion and ghastly visions of the painter’s fragile and crumbling psyche.
