Another free DLC for the Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available for Linux on Steam: Scania S BEV.

Truckers can now enjoy the Scania S BEV in Euro Truck Simulator 2! The Scania 40 S and 45 S BEV, which are both based on the Scania S with a 4x2 Chassis, feature two powertrain options, a six-speed transmission combined with three electric motors with a continuous power output of 400/450 kW (540/610 hp). The interior comes with a few specific changes for the electric variant. BEV-specific gauges are introduced alongside a refreshed interior that includes Blind Spot Indicators built into the A-pillars, an electronic parking brake, as well as some smaller changes to the driver’s dashboard. Please be aware, that as our in-game world of Euro Truck Simulator 2 faces similar difficulties as the real one, we currently do not have an electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the game. As such, we have decided to bring this electric vehicle into the game only as an option in predefined deliveries known as Quick Jobs.

The Renault Trucks E-Tech T boasts impressive specifications, including a powerful 540kWh battery that enables it to cover up to 350 kilometers on a single charge when using a DC charger during a one-hour break. Equipped with a 4x2 configuration and a 12-speed Optidriver gearbox, it offers a seamless driving experience. It has a Gross Combination Weight (GCW) of 44 tons, highlighting its impressive hauling capacity. Additionally, its maximum regen rate matches its maximum output, reaching an impressive 490kW. Please be aware, that for now, as our in-game world of Euro Truck Simulator 2 faces similar difficulties as the real one, we do not have built electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the game. Due to this and more reasons, we have decided to bring this electric vehicle into the game only as an option in predefined deliveries known as Quick Jobs.

For the Euro Truck Simulator 2 the update 1.48.5 is now available for Linux on Steam.

ETS2: 1.48.5 Update Release With the West Balkans DLC just around the corner, we are releasing the 1.48.5 Update for Euro Truck Simulator 2. We haven’t bumped the game version all the way up by a whole number, as this update is focused on some specific content additions as well as some under the hood maintenance with code-based improvements. With the West Balkans DLC on the horizon, we are hard at work behind the scenes, bug-fixing and polishing; making sure everything is in place for a smooth release. This includes tirelessly iterating over multiple databases with the world economy and route access topology, and sometimes implementing related code changes and cleanups. In addition to under-the-hood data changes, there are still some visible highlights of this update - the inclusion of new map content! Players can look forward to exploring the newly added city of Trieste, along with the updated cities of Ancona and Bari. These changes were previously described on our blog, so for more details, check out the dedicated articles here (Ancona + Bari) and here (Trieste). As you can tell, the ETS2 1.48.5 Update is an important step in preparing for the West Balkans release, as it brings with it not only bug fixes but also exciting new map content that will allow better connection to the new part of the games universe. However that isn’t all, as there are some changes coming in this release that were not originally a part of the 1.48.5 Open Beta, including the fact that American Truck Simulator will also be receiving the 1.48.5 update later in the month too. This is because we are introducing 2 new changes which we believe players will benefit from. These are Faster Loading Times and an FPS Limiter. Faster Loading Times After an update, it has historically taken our titles a while to re-cache and update navigation data. Recently we were able to optimise this data and speed up the process considerably. Thanks to this update, the loading process is around 6 times faster! This also includes loading times for the company directory, which is loaded each time you start the game, which is 23 times faster than previous builds. We hope that you enjoy this small quality of life change. Frame Rate Limiter This was a feature that was quite highly requested by our community. This limiter is aimed mostly at those with a more powerful GPU. It was reported that when alt-tabbed outside the sim, GPUs would run at 100% since it was still trying to render the maximum number of frames possible. Because of this, we have placed a cap of 300 FPS to limit GPU usage, while not limiting most monitors. While this is still a bit experimental, we look forward to hearing your feedback. We hope you enjoy the little features and updates that 1.48.5 offers! We’d like to thank all those who participated in the Open Beta and helped us tweak and provided feedback. The free DLC “MAN TGX” for the Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available for Linux on Steam and adds another truck to the game.

The MAN TGX features an ergonomically optimized cabin, efficient driveline, economical fuel consumption, high load capacity, and a redesigned cab; making it the perfect partner for any job on the road. The MAN TGX arrives with a select choice of configurations and customizations. This includes 3 cabin sizes (GN, GM, GX), 6 chassis types (4x2, 6x2, 6x4, and 8x4), 8 transmissions, and 9 engine options up to 640hp. Plenty of customizations are available too, including the options for roof deflectors, front fender aero package, headlights and rear lights, bumpers, mudflaps, and 19 official paint jobs the grey individual special. Two days after the release of the update 1.41 for ATS, the Update 1.41 incl. the multiplayer-mode “Convoy” is now also available for the Euro Truck Simulator 2 for Linux on Steam!

Convoy Multiplayer Convoy is a new multiplayer game mode, where players can set up and host their own private sessions (password optional) to drive with their friends or other fellow truckers. There is currently support for synchronized AI traffic, time and weather, and the ability to take the same job as other players. Convoy allows you to create and host an online session with up to 8 players. We plan to eventually raise the player limit in the future, however, we are keeping it small at this time due to its work-in-progress nature. Session hosts will automatically be made admins of these sessions, allowing them to ultimately control what kind of environment they want to have online, as well as having the ability to kick any trouble-makers from the session.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.38 Release After an exciting week for American Truck Simulator with the arrival of Idaho, we are happy to announce the arrival of the 1.38 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2! We’d like to thank all those who took part in the open beta and contributed with bug reports and general feedback. We hope you can now begin to fully enjoy the various new features which are included within this update. So, what can you expect to find in the 1.38 update ETS2? Lets us give you a quick recap of the most significant changes. First of all, one of the more significant changes that drivers will notice across the map at most major cities in the introduction of newly designed and unique truck brand dealerships. All dealerships locations across the Euro Truck Simulator 2 map have received a refresh, so make sure to visit them in-game as you drive past (it is well worth the stop!). The French city of Lille has also received a reskin in this update. Some of the main changes include updates to road junctions, which have been re-worked and created with more accurate layouts. Road signs and roads, in general, have also been updated with more accurate, realistic, and detailed textures, along with new buildings and assets. If you happen to be passing by on delivery, we recommend making some extra time to see Lille for yourself. We are also excited to introduce the inclusion of a computer graphics technique for efficiently approximating ambient occlusion effects in real-time. Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, better known in its shorter form SSAO, creates shadows in the areas where objects connect, to give it a more natural and believable look in terms of lighting and shadows. Less powerful GPUs may struggle to keep up at full quality, and with 400% or similarly high scaling selected, even mid-range machines would feel the impact on fps. If you are not happy with framerate after this update, please open the advanced graphics options in the game and try to find the right combination of scaling and SSAO quality for you. With a weaker GPU, it may be advisable to switch off SSAO completely. This new feature can be better explained by one of our senior programmers, be sure to read a more in-depth post about the topic at our Under the Hood blog post here. We are also happy to introduce a long-requested update to the RGB Color Picker which drivers use to paint their trucks when purchasing or tuning their truck. You now have the option to input specific color inputs (HSV, RGB, and HEX). We know that many drivers like to match their truck colors the same across their whole fleet, so we hope this feature is useful to you. There have also been changes made to our GPS Route Advisor, which now features a cleaner and more modern-looking UI allowing for a larger on-screen map view. That’s not all, however, as we also added new information for drivers using checkpoints for their journeys. Players will now be able to see useful information on their next checkpoint markers such as the distance to their next checkpoint, and their estimated time of arrival through their GPS and world map. The DAF XF Tuning Pack has also received a small update which will now allow all DAF trucks chassis covers to be painted. We look forward to seeing how drivers will take advantage of this new customization on their DAF fleet as we know many drivers like to match their truck colours. The FH Tuning Pack for Volvo Trucks has also received a small update based on feedback from our community. Drivers can also expect to find new tuning parts including front wheel covers, side deflectors with LEDs, stock front bumpers and rear top fenders with plastic and chrome options. This isn’t the only change however, as we also have included new horn models to better reflect the reality of the design of air horns. To reflect actual truck setups properly, our vehicle team has added new “pins” on truck cabins that are specific for air horns. We did our best with the research to make sure their locations are chosen on proper references, mostly on factory defaults, of course, but also taking into account what we could find in tuning photos from truck festivals. You can read more about their addition on a previous blog post. We are also happy to bring 3 new Special Transport routes for drivers to take on in our latest map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2, Road to the Black Sea. These routes are: Reșița to Târgu Mureș İstanbul to Edirne Pleven to Sofia Each journey will come with its own challenges. So make sure to adhere instructions given on the GPS advisor and the speed limit which have been set out for you before your departure, as there is no room for mistakes! This addition will come as a free update for owners of Road to the Black Sea and Special Transport for Euro Truck Simulator 2. There is much more packed into this update! With the Operation Genoa Bridge event still ongoing and the bridge nearing completion, you may have noticed that Euro Truck Simulator 2 received a small update on Steam earlier today. Don’t worry, we did not release the next update behind your back. It was actually a focused, small but important mini-update that deserves explaining. This ‘rebalance package’, as we like to call it, contains numerous sound improvements and adjustments. Our SFX team keeps working hard on sound improvements, the sound revolution in the update 1.37, and switch to the FMOD library was a critical junction but not the final destination for them. We received a ton of feedback from our community, and most of these changes come as a response to this input. It is quite possible that you can see further mini-updates in the future, outside of the big “point release” update cycle, as we continue to keep addressing your reports. Today’s update carries a few SFX changes such as: Polished sound transitions (e.g. for both loaded and unloaded engine/rpm) Several new sound samples for AI vehicles Overall re-balanced sounds, and volumes And more! As we said at the beginning of the year, we still have a long journey ahead in bringing better and more realistic sounds to our games in general. Short after the release of the Update 1.37 for the American Truck Simulator, this huge update is now also available for the Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Steam:

After much testing, feedback, fixing, and fine-tuning, we are excited to announce the arrival of update 1.37 for Euro Truck Simulator 2! We’d like to thank every single one of you for all your help with your bug reports, opinions, and general feedback during the Open Beta. We hope you can now begin to fully enjoy the new features included within this update. The main feature included with this update is the implementation of our new sound engine FMOD; which radically redefines the way we mix vehicle and environment sounds. This update includes revisited sounds of trucks’ engines, new sounds for most of the AIs (including trains), reverb sound effects in tunnels, new train crossings sounds, the inclusion of a true Doppler effect for passing vehicles and more. This also brings an array of new sound options for users accessed from the main menu, which allows you to tweak many more individual sounds to your liking. While there is still a lot of tweaking to do and more sounds to arrive, this is only the first phase. We will continue to improve based on feedback and implement changes throughout the year to come. As a benefit from the new sound mixing approach, we are happy to bring you truck windows which you can open! You can now enjoy the continuum of sound levels between a well-insulated cabin with windows closed and the roaring traffic coming from the outside when you roll the windows all the way down. Give it a try especially when you hit the rush hour on the road or at a big junction. Another addition that arrives with this update is our “walk-around feature.” Our game world is generally not designed for exploration on foot, but we figure that fans may appreciate a new closer perspective to view their favorite machines in the upgrade shop. Getting up close may also be of use when you need to tune up your rig and match the color of your rims with the cabin’s paint just right. So here we are with a little bonus feature of 1.37, an alternate way to control the camera in the game’s service and vehicle browser. We had to redesign the “garage” scene a little to make more space and way for the cameras, hopefully, you will appreciate it. Hungry for more? Then get ready for some food tanks! And we mean literally food tanks because, with this update, you can finally own this new type of trailer. These beauties were highly demanded for some time and so we’re glad and proud we can bring them for you, our #BestCommunityEver! We are also excited to bring to you a rework of 4 French cities in 1.37. Metz, Reims, Strasbourg, and Dijon will receive a fresh lick of paint with a rehaul of its roads which have been given a new look. We’re happy to announce that after spending some time in internal testing, Experimental Beta and Public Beta, the Euro Truck Simulator 2 Update 1.35 is now ready for all trucking enthusiasts! As we have said before, this update is really huge so we’d like to thank all those who helped us in testing it. Due to its size, we won’t describe all the details here again (read the Public Beta article please). Instead, we’d like to address some questions regarding a new feature that was added only a few days ago; GPS voice navigation. As with many other features, please do consider this to be the initial phase. For now, you can choose from 9 different language options (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Turkish and Mandarin Chinese), but we do plan to add more in the future, in addition to other improvements. Update 1.32 with trailer ownership is here! It’s on! We have taken quite a while with the open beta - testing and tuning the new version was a very extensive task, as this is one of the biggest game updates we have ever produced. The reactions from the volunteer testers are very enthusiastic, and we are eager for the player-base to enjoy all the new features as well now. The amount of open beta feedback was so huge, thanks a lot to all the participants! We may not have been able to respond to all of the messages individually, but rest assured that we read everything and all your opinions, suggestions and bug reports are noted. Euro Truck Simulator 2 & American Truck Simulator: finally Force Feedback for Logitech-Wheels on Linux

Finally a very good message for all Linux-Friends of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator: both games now have (half-)official support for Force Feedback when using (Logitech) wheels! What does “half-official” mean? SCS did not (yet?) implement FFB for wheels in the base games. BUT: 50keda, a Mod from the official SCS forum got access to the source-code of a FFB-plugin for Windows and he developed an ETS2/ATS-Plugin for Linux of it! It has currently been tested only with wheels from Logitech - but these tests have been reported by users to be successful.

The developers of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator announced today on Steam, that in both titles the event “Grand Gift Delivery 2017” has begun with unique virtual and even real rewards. Since it’s a World of Trucks event where you have to pick up this special contracts, you’ll need an account there. Chances are high that you already have it, if you like the games:

Santa needs our help! Our ‘On The Road’ crew has just arrived from the North Pole. Santa’s logistics network is having a hard time coping with deliveries of all the gifts, and SCS Software has been summoned for help. Honestly, though, our humble sim trailer is just not enough, the motion seats just take up too much space. Way more capacity is needed. It is clear that we need to turn to players of our games for help! There are billions of gifts around the globe waiting for delivery, and we have duly informed Santa that we may only be able to help him with a tiny fraction of the number, and only in limited territories. Even with the addition of New Mexico to American Truck Simulator and Italia to Euro Truck Simulator 2, our coverage of the two continents is still not satisfactory, not to speak about the rest of the planet. Yes, we know! Now even Santa is pushing us hard to improve the coverage for the next year already - as if he planned to depend on us again and again. For now, let’s try to do what we can do. There are rewards waiting for everyone who’ll join in! Santa has some special cabin toys and accessories straight from his domain for you. He’s even willing to let you park your mighty diesel beasts at the North Pole - in a new main-menu background scene. How cool is that? This World of Trucks event is a bit more complex than what we had in the previous seasons. Players of both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 will be able to participate, but each game is counted separately and provides its own set of achievements and rewards. On top of it, each game’s event actually has two levels of accomplishment, and two tiers of rewards! The rewards are not just digital this time. At the conclusion of the event, we’ll draw five lucky winners for each game and each tier (that’s 20 prizes in total) and offer you a choice of merchandise from our e-shop to pick your reward from.
