Hello,

I have installed Steam as a flatpak, and Borderlands GOTY Enhanced through Steam.

I am running Borderlnads w/ Proton 8.0-5 compatibility mode.

I have tried to change various settings, and enabling/disabling any graphic option.

I keep getting these annoying lines all the time.

I have an HP 15-eg1015nl (i7-1195G7, 16GB ram, Intel TigerLake-LP GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics]) and I am runnign Debian trixie.

I recently configured my dedicated Nvidia GPU and installed RPCS3 and PCSX2.

PCSX2 works so amazingly man I am just in love, although both the games I wanted to play on RPCS3 kinda suck. They lag, but I think that is just the configuration, I tried applying the fixed in the RPCS3 WiKi but no avial.

That aside, PCSX2 is running amazing.

Also if anyone have installed the two from flatpak and one of you is going through the issue of PCSX2 or RPCS3 not being able to locate files, that might be because flatpak does not allow file access. You have to run the following command- ``sudo flatpak override --filesystem=home <appname>``

Is there any real difference between Distros for gaming?

Hi all, sorry for my question, noob here.

I was just wondering how big is the difference between using a Distro dedicated for gaming like Nobara or Bazzite vs something like Pop_OS.

The reason i'm asking is mainly due to the fact that my laptop has an Nvidia graphics card, and from what i've tested, I was only able to select my dedicated GPU on Pop_os with the gui and by running system76-power graphics nvidia.

Am I missing out, or is it ok for me to keep Pop_os?

Need Help with World Generation Lag Issue on Minecraft Debian Server

Hi everyone,

We're encountering a significant problem on our Minecraft Hexxit II. server despite having 94 GB of RAM on the server. Whenever the world generates dungeons from various mods, we experience severe lag spikes, causing the server ticks to skip with the following error message:

"Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 47145ms behind, skipping 942 tick(s)."

We've only allocated 70 GB of RAM specifically to the Minecraft Hexxit server, and our CPU, which boasts 12 cores, can assign virtual cores to handle the workload efficiently.

Despite these configurations, the issue persists, and we're at a loss for solutions. We've tried various optimizations, but none seem to alleviate the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions or insights into what might be causing this issue and how we could potentially resolve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Title. Game currently runs at something like 60% speed. I'm on a laptop and using prime-run to run the game on my Nvidia GPU. I was initially using proton 9 beta to get dlss working but I swapped to a few other proton versions and the game all ran at the same speed.

* HUD update – with quest/enemy/NPC indicator

* Added enemy dialogue when he gets close the first time.

* Added elite character.

* Management of the Ragdoll effect when enemies have been defeated.

* Back to the GodotPhysic3D Physics engine, Jolt caused physical bone disconnections and ultimately is less effective with bone physics (for my case anyway).

Dev to follow:

* The optimization is correct I respect the 60 FPS, but the number of objects increases with each enemy spawn, I need a spawn/de-spawn to better manage the number of objects in memory.

* The mini-map lacks a little clarity, I will reduce the red and blue spots of enemies and NPCs, to help make the objectives more visible. Here it is to hit the 3 elites and exit the map.

* The character's gameplay is currently limited to 2 moves, my next step will be to add several, for more fun.

I was able to launch Hogwarts Legacy in Steam without enabling compatibility and selecting Proton. I can’t find anything on internet telling that Hogwarts Legacy was proted to linux.

Does that mean that Steam enabled compatibility by itself ? Or that they did port it to Linux without communicating about it ?

Anybody know how to get mayflash gamecube controller working with dolphin on Immutable Fedora 39 Distro??

Hi yall, I have recently got into fedora silverblue/kinoite, and absolutely in love. Got pretty much every game I wanna play working except for smash bros melee. Currently on silverblue.

I'm so close. Have gotten the slippi .appimage + dolphin working perfectly, and the game launches all good, but I am unable to get dolphin to detect my mayflash adapter gamecube controller for input.

Only thing close to a guide I have found is this post https://old.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/rdt87u/slippi_super_smash_bros_melee_guide_on_fedora_35/

but the section on GC controller setup doesn't work for an immutable fedora. It says I need to make a file in /etc/udev/rules.d called 51-gcadapter.rules, and paste some stuff into it.

I am able to create the file in this directory with sudo touch, however trying to add anything to it with

sudo cat > 51-gcadapter.rules

yields a permission denied error. Trying to create and add text simultaneously with sudo echo also gives permission denied. I am pretty new to linux but I can only imagine this issue is resulting from the immutable nature of its filesystem. Does anyone know how I could do this seemingly simple step, I wanna play melee!

7 Years of Linux Game Development: My Journey as an Indie Developer

Hey everyone,

I'm Xavier, and I've been making video games on my own for about 7 years now. What's unique about my journey is that I've been doing it all on Linux, using only open-source and royalty-free software.

I know, it might sound a bit old school, but let me tell you why Linux has been my go-to platform. Back when I was diving into programming, Linux was already my jam. It just felt like the perfect fit. I'm not saying this to butter up the Linux community, but seriously, hear me out. I've got my trusty tools like bash, gcc, svn (I also used CVS, I'm this old ...), git, python, and more. They're all there, no matter which Linux distro I'm using.

When Godot Engine 2.1 dropped, I seized the opportunity and dived into my first project. Spoiler alert: I messed up a lot. But hey, that's how we learn, right? The first game was a bit of a flop, barely making a grand in revenue after a year of sweat and tears. But I didn't let that deter me. I dusted myself off and got cracking on another game, inspired by the likes of Game Dev Tycoon. It's called City Game Studio, and it's been a hit on platforms like Steam and GOG. People seem to dig it, and I'm constantly updating and improving it. Plus, it's on sale right now for less than 10 bucks!

And guess what? I'm not stopping there. I've got my sights set on my next project—a 3D multiplayer board game. It's deceptively simple in terms of gameplay, but the multiplayer aspect adds a whole new layer of complexity. If you're curious, you can check it out on Steam!

So yeah, that's been my life for the past 7 years. Churning out games on Debian as my main OS, with a bunch of other operating systems on laptops on standby for testing purposes.

Elden Ring, PS5 Controller, Steam Input - Opening the map via the Touch Pad attacks at the same time?

Basically the title, I am using Steam Input to turn the PS5 controller into a Xbox controller so Elden Ring can recognise it.

But I've noticed, when I use the touch pad to open the map, my character attacks at the same time as if I am hitting R1! This does not happen on windows.

How can I fix this?

The problem is that there's no "download" button that just gives you all the necessary files. And from there you just put them into the "mods" folder. There appears to be a bunch of different files you can download, but which ones? It's kind of a convoluted mess, which tends to be my experience with Github.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

New to Linux! Couple frustrations I hope people can help me out with.

So, I have always been an avid Windows user, but, I decided to try Linux and go full into it. I am using Pop!_OS with the Nvidia drivers as I have a 4090.

I installed Steam via the Pop shop and I am using proton.

I have a few issues I hope some people can help me with?

  1. I have tried a few proton games and the audio stutters every few seconds when moving around, like, it cuts out for around 200ms, as if its struggling, so it sounds choppy. Any idea why this is happening? I am using audio out of my monitor through Nvidia HDMI (I have speakers plugged into the aux on my monitor).

  2. I have a PS5 controller, I use DS4Windows on windows to emulate a PS4 controller. I know Steam has Steam input to register my PS5 controller as a Xbox controller, but some games, I need the touchpad so I want to emulate a PS4 controller, whats the best way to do this on Linux?
