Parent lock on apps/links/folders ?
I'm saving my nephew old PC with mint mate, and adding some light emulators to go with it (snes-gba-ps1) so he can have some fun in-between doing his home work, but I want to add a password, be it to the apps or the folders where said apps will be in and give it to my sister so she can control how much he time he games, is it possible ?

Can anyone tell me what's going on with Garry's Mod?
GMod is probably the most confusing game for linux compatibility: some say it's native, some say I better run it in Wine, some say it doesn't even run on linux, some say the developer doesn't care about linux, some say there is a HUGE fps drop from Windows... Can someone please help me clear this out?

Missing libraries that might halt my gaming progress in Honkai Star Rail
Yesterday, I played Honkai Star Rail 2.1 main story (not going to give more detail about this because it will be a spoiler) but after one cutscene, the game just go black screen and stays there, every time. When I exit the game and re-enter, the cutscene replays, and I'm stuck there again.
A dude on Discord told me to use the terminal to monitor the gaming process and I found these warnings
This happened 2 times: one after the game boots up and allows the player to enter the game, and one more time after the cutscene is loaded.
I don't know if I missed something, but I installed the Flatpak version of the game and set the environment to play the game which is available on my HDD (then I copied the game to my primary SSD but it didn't work)
Specs:
- i7 1065G7
- 16GB RAM (2x8)
- OS: POP!_OS 22.04 LTS

XInputTest works with wine! (latency tester)
I was watching some YT reviews of controllers and I noticed this program kept coming up that you can use to test the input latency & polling rate of your input devices / controllers. I went to find it and noticed it was Windows only, but fortunately I found it works out the box with Wine! I'm not sure why this surprised me, but it did. Here it is in action. (controller used is 8BitDo Pro 2 with Hall Effect joysticks connected via BT)

Steam games are not launching
As the title states, I can’t launch any of my steam games apart from L4D2. Not even Days Gone which is labeled as Platinum on protondb. I’ve tried older versions of proton, proton ge, I checked that my drivers are up to date, and I have a modern system so I know it’s not that. I even checked my permissions and it’s all fine. I’ve also uninstalled and installed the games again.
I click on “Play” then it switches to “running” and then goes back to saying “Play.”
There’s an older thread that I found but nothing there fixed my issue.
Has anyone had this issue and fixed it?

Windows to Wine file transfer
I want to switch my windows laptop to endeavor. On it I have 25ish gigs of Sims3 (fitgirl). I haven't had luck with installing sims3 on my linux system, can I transfer the game via usb or ssh and just "pop" it into a wine prefix drive_c?

Anyone got Kingdom Hearts 3 working?
I have it downloaded from the Heroic launcher and I am using WineGE, but I can never get past the first cutscene after it launches. Research I have done says KH3 requires "Windows Media Foundation", but where and how to get this is a mystery to me, and most guides for Linux involve using the quaked version of KH3.
So does anyone know how to get the legitimate copy of KH3 to work?
System Details:
- OS: Garuda Linux (Wayland)/Arch
- Kernel: Zen 3
- CPU: 5800X3D
- GPU: 7900 XT
Any guidance would be appreciated!

Roblox WayDroid or Windows VM
I wish to play Roblox on my Steam Deck and am aware that Wine is now blocked. I would like to know which method is better for Roblox and why. I don't want to dual boot Windows, I'd rather use a VM for convenience and take the performance penalty if Windows is the better option.

Supply chain attack in xz/liblzma 5.6.0/5.6.1 - users of rolling distros should update immediately
Is there a Linux equivalent of something like Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex?
The last piece of the "I need gaming to work on my distro" puzzle is getting mods to work. I've had no issues playing games on Steam thanks to Proton-GE, but for the life of me I don't know how to get mods to work.
Is there a Linux-based app that can function similar to MO2/Vortex, or do I have to use something like Wine/Lutris/Bottles to do the job?

G29/G923 USERS. Correct "guide" to install Logitech G923 drivers?
Hi guys, the only problem I have to finally migrate to Linux is not being able to finish configuring my G923 wheel, I don't know the correct way to install its drivers, I've been trying to install them but the FFB doesn't work in games (AC/ACC/F1 20)
I don't know if it's a compatibility problem of the G923 with Linux, because I've seen the G29 has better compatibility with Linux.
So, i would like if you could help me to configure the steering wheel correctly

If you're a linux user and use it for gaming as well, sometimes you might need to check protondb to know if your games are going to work at all, `protondb-check` makes it easy and it's fully open-source, check it out at Github
