Logitech Extreme 3D Pro with Proton games

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19 hours 44 min ago

Hi! I'm having a really weird issue where when i try to play some flight sims (like Nuclear Option) this logitech joystick is recognized but not the throttle and yaw axis. I've used https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad to test the joystick and is working just fine natively. Also if i run the wine control panel using protontricks the joystick should work just fine. Anyone had a similar issue?

Helldivers Multiplayer Connection Issue on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 20 hours 33 min ago

I recently switched to Linux and I'm still learning my way around. Today, I installed Helldivers and it launched without any issues (besides the common fullscreen problem). However, I encountered a problem when trying to play with friends.

  • The in-game social menu doesn't show any of my friends online.
  • Joining through Steam friends doesn't work either.
  • When trying to establish an uplink to join a ship, it fails.
  • The same thing happens with quick play - it establishes a connection to join the lobby but then kicks me out.
  • Occasionally, I receive a browser tab with an error code 114 from GameGuard, asking me to find erl files to send.

Troubleshooting:

  • Turning off IPv6
  • Setting IPv6 to "on"
  • Setting IPv6 to "auto"

I believe there might be a linux network issue that I'm too much of a newbie to diagnose on my system. Counter-Strike 2 works fine for joining lobbies and searching for games, so the problem seems to be specific to Helldivers. Also, i played it on windows a month or so ago and it worked fine.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or troubleshooting steps I could try to resolve this multiplayer connection issue in Helldivers on Linux.

Thank you in advance for your help!

"Proton Experimental" stuck on "UNPACKING" on Steam?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 22 hours 34 min ago

Installed POP_OS, installed Steam and turned on the compatibility setting. Now, it downloaded "Proton Experimental".

It is 1.1GB in size for my drive, 271.2MB in download size, but it is stuck on "UNPACKING".

It literally says "271.2mb / 271.2mb" for downloading and "1.1GB / 1.1GB" for hard drive, but its still stuck on unpacking.

I've rebooted my PC and re-installed Steam and its still the same, any ideas?

Heroic Game Launcher (Rocket League) does not recognize DS4 controller

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 23 hours 32 min ago

I'm new to linux gaming, and I'm trying to get Rocket League working on Ubuntu 22.04.

I have installed the game via Heroic Game Launcher connected to Epic Games then added it to Steam. I have activated Steam Input with the gamepad template and it does recognize correctly every button of the DS4 but when I launch the game only the touchpad works (along with mouse and the pc keyboard).

Am I missing something? Any tips?

How much has Valve done for Wine and Linux gaming?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 11:57pm

A rather open-ended question, but yeah. Just wondering because I wasn't into gaming on Linux before Proton existed.

Did they just take Wine and made it 10% better and also integrate it into Steam, or did they revolutionize how it works and made it be able to be used for a ton more games? They seem to be pouring money into it, at least, but not sure into what exactly.

If they did improve it, do you see this trend of improvement continuing, or did it kinda hit a wall?

Rocket League with Bakkesmod?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 11:20pm

I am running Rocket League through steam and proton (it does have a native linux build but I can't connect to epic servers with it). I really wanted to get bakkesmod running on linux so I installed it and ran the installer with wine. It installed bakkesmod at ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/BakkesMod/BakkesMod.exe. When I run rocket league with proton and then boot up BakkesMod with wine it can't detect my Rocket League installation at all. While safemode checkbox is on it says mod is out of date but I know that bakkesmod is actually up to date with the latest version of Rocket League. When I uncheck safemode it doesn't detect a rocket league installation. I am on arch with i3wm. Any help would be greatly appreciated :).

Does a game installed on windows will work on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 10:17pm

So I got a new pc and decided to use Linux on it. I had all my game on my previous pc installed on an external ssd. When plugging it in the Linux pc, steam detect the game and doesn’t detect any compatibility issues but can’t launch it. Is because of something else I should modify or should I install it again from Linux?

Crackling/Glitching Sounds that Occur on Almost Every Game, Help?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 9:18pm

I constantly get this stupid glitch sound that rises up until it disappears. I'm unsure of what to do for it because it occurs in just about every game that I play and only when I play games.

SteamCMD Update Error

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 9:11pm

Hello,

when I want to update my Arma 3 gameserver on my Linux Ubuntu server with SteamCMD, I get the following message since today:

tid(27094) burning pthread_key_t == 0 so we never use it Redirecting stderr to '/home/gameserver/.steam/logs/stderr.txt' Logging directory: '/home/gameserver/.steam/logs' minidumps folder is set to /tmp/dumps [ 0%] Checking for available updates... Success! App '233780' fully installed.

The message that it seems to work is not correct. I have already researched the topic and found it on Reddit. However, no post brought a solution to my problem.

I have already turned off the firewall of the server completely for testing. But it still does not work.

Does anyone know a solution or have they solved the problem themselves?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 7:55pm

Advaith works for discord, decided to ask him about discord bringing screen sharing with audio or wayland support or even hardware encoding/decoding. He replied with jake hopes to get wayland screen share support this year

This is rlly good to see, hopefully they add audio aswell on top of that and not just wayland support

Hardware encode and decode would also be nice but a man can dream i guess

Dragon's Dogma II gamemode

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 7:27pm

If you want to increase fps in Dragon's Dogma II, try to use `gamemoderun %command%`, it greatly improved performance in my case. (from 16-26 fps to 60 in first village)

Best distro 5600h

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 7:20pm

Hello everyone, I have a Chinese mini PC (Gen machine) with 5600h and 16Gb ram. In windows any game freezes after 30 seconds. As naive as I am, I want to ask if I will be able to play anything on Linux (Lol, Last Epoch, Valor ant) and which distro should I use.

Thank you very much, and sorry for the very naive question.

Roblox

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 6:24pm

I wanted to play roblox and I tried Vinegar "Wine is not supported", did everything I could and still can't run it. I know that the devs or whoever recently stopped wine support, so is there a way or do we just wait? Thanks for anyone responding!

Some Games "Lagging" When Playing on Hyprland

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 27 Mar 2024 - 6:01pm

So I've recently come across an issue where there's some games that are "lagging" and others not. When I use the term "lagging" I mean, imagine if you just cranked up the motion blur and tried turning your camera. (I did check, this isn't what's happening) Or perhaps just a constant low FPS.

Normally I would assume it's just that game, but this exact issue has happened to three games now. So Dragon's Dogma 2, The Thaumaturge, and Enshrouded all have this exact issue. However Helldivers 2, Cyberpunk 2077, New World, Solasta and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen all run just fine.

So my question is, how can I fix this (assuming others are/have experienced it)? Or better yet, how can I go about testing it?

Some info about my system:

Steam Install: Flatpak (though I tried with multilib and this issue still remains)
OS: Arch Linux x86_64Kernel: 6.8.1-zen1-1-zen
DE: Hyprland (exact dots https://github.com/JaKooLit/Arch-Hyprland )
WM: sway
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080
Memory: 32GB
Nvidia Driver: 550.67

For some things changed, in my WindowRules.conf I do have:

windowrule = noblur,gamescope

windowrule = fullscreen,gamescope

windowrule = workspace 6 silent,^(gamescope)$

As well, I'm using two monitors so placed these in my Monitors.conf:

monitor=DP-2,1920x1080@144,1920x0,1

monitor=HDMI-A-1,preferred,auto,1

Specifically for Dragon's Dogma 2 I'm using GE-Proton9-1, all the rest are using Proton 8.0-5. As well, for DD2 I have the launch options: RADV_PERFTEST=nosam VKD3D_CONFIG=DXR11 gamemoderun while the rest have no launch options used.
Most other changes to the configs I made were for other customization. But if more info is needed, I don't mind providing.

I sent an email to Capcom's tech support as me trying different things in Dragon's Dogma 2 would lock me out every 5 attempts. Their response to my request for help was basically "don't use linux":

Thank you for contacting CAPCOM USA Customer Support. Please note that Capcom does not warrant nor officially provide technical support for PCs that do not meet the official, minimum system requirements. As your OS is not supported, we are not able to provide any troubleshooting options. We ask that the game be played on a device that natively runs a supported OS per the system requirements, or to wait for the 24 hour period to expire.
