Seeking advice on asking for more Linux compatibility with developpers

Hello Everyone,

I'm a relatively new Linux user and gamer, though I do have experience with Linux due to my background in IT security. However, I'm not very familiar with the desktop experience. Recently, some of my favorite games have started to remove Linux compatibility. For example, my friend and I enjoy playing League of Legends (which now uses their Vanguard anti-cheat) and more recently Battlefield (which employs EA anti-cheat).

I've noticed that these games are gradually abandoning their (unofficial) support for Linux, and it's disheartening. I'm not really against Kernel driver since there's no other option at the moment but I'm against it when it always runs. I don't really know what should i do. I want to remain on Linux as I'm becoming accustomed to it and appreciate the values it stands for. However, I also want to continue playing games with my friends.

Do you have any suggestions on how individuals like myself can make game developers aware that Linux is growing, and that we desire more support for the platform?

Rexaura fails to boot.

But it doesn't launch.

I don't know how to launch it in console to see the error.

I don't know where is Rexaura even stored.

I filled it out. Told them I am a Linux gamer and the problem I had with Denuvo locking the game I bought for 24hr because I was testing different Proton versions to get the game to run.

I figured this could only help Capcom and the Linux gamers for the future. Oh and there is wallpaper of the game if you wanted that.

It was running okay before i downgraded using steam cmd stuff and installing Backported ESL support. I have the crash log but i cannot quite make sense of it. Here is the log. Apparently it's a dll issue but no .dll file like that is found on my skyrim install but there are some in wine and proton folders. What should i do to fix this?

Steam library shared between Linux and Windows keep updating constantly

Hi guys, I'm testing a situation for my next pc but I have some issue. I have formated a new HDD in NTFS and had created a new Steam library in it from Windows. I had installed 2 games on it and everything has worked. I rebooted in linux and added the new hdd as a new library to my linux's steam client and after a little update all games was ok. I had installed another two games from linux just to test. And all was fine.

BUT, every time I reboot the pc to one OS to another, all four games needs updates, on windows and linux too. Why?

On my new PC I would like to have a single installation for both OSes and play the same game in linux and in windows too. I think it is possibile but I don't want to get an update every time I open Steam.

I have tried to enable/disable the compatibility layer on linux but nothing change

Explicit Sync on Wayland

Merged on Thursday to GNOME's Mutter compositor is support for the linux-drm-syncobj-v1 Wayland protocol that is used to handle the global migration to explicit synchronization.

The linux-drm-syncobj-v1 was two years in the making for explicit synchronization using DRM sync objects. This protocol was rolled out last week as part of Wayland Protocols 1.34. This is one of the more important Wayland protocols in recent time for benefiting OpenGL and Vulkan drivers. This protocol is also especially helpful for the proprietary NVIDIA Linux graphics driver for ironing out some ofi ts Wayland issues.

Borderlands GOTY Enhanced: Screen lines bug w/ Proton

Hello,

I have installed Steam as a flatpak, and Borderlands GOTY Enhanced through Steam.

I am running Borderlnads w/ Proton 8.0-5 compatibility mode.

I have tried to change various settings, and enabling/disabling any graphic option.

I keep getting these annoying lines all the time.

I have an HP 15-eg1015nl (i7-1195G7, 16GB ram, Intel TigerLake-LP GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics]) and I am runnign Debian trixie.

Linux + PS2 and PS3 Emulator = Chefs kiss.

I recently configured my dedicated Nvidia GPU and installed RPCS3 and PCSX2.

PCSX2 works so amazingly man I am just in love, although both the games I wanted to play on RPCS3 kinda suck. They lag, but I think that is just the configuration, I tried applying the fixed in the RPCS3 WiKi but no avial.

That aside, PCSX2 is running amazing.

Also if anyone have installed the two from flatpak and one of you is going through the issue of PCSX2 or RPCS3 not being able to locate files, that might be because flatpak does not allow file access. You have to run the following command- ``sudo flatpak override --filesystem=home <appname>``
