Can't switch between games SteamTinkerLaunch

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2024 - 7:09pm

I installed SteamTinkerLaunch because there is an option to make Discord RPC work with Proton. Unfortunately I'm stuck and can't figure out how to use the Program. I've spend almost an hour reading through the whole wiki and searched for help online but found nothing. I'm stuck on this screen:

https://preview.redd.it/hr0solnetiqc1.png?width=1709&format=png&auto=webp&s=879850c1005a64157887e408bc4024d2b845e863

I have a bunch of Games installed but it seems like it's not detecting any of them. Steam is set to use SteamTinkerLaunch as compatibility tool. I've tried every possible button but nothing is working...

Fix for dualsense haptic feedback

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2024 - 4:31pm

The controller need to be recognized as analog surround 4.0-output + digital stereo output so you need to change that in the system settings.

This Post explain what to do if the game doesn't connect automatic to the controllers haptic feedback. Maybe that doesn’t help much people but it was going crazy because all driver was installed.

Stuttering, FPS drops and refresh rate greyed out in Horizon Forbidden West

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2024 - 4:02pm

Hi there!

What's going on

I'm currently playing through Horizon Forbidden West, and I've been facing different issues when it comes to overall performance, I am facing frame drops, going as low as 15-25fps, and overall lag, losing 10-5fps in some situations.

Hardware

I am using an MSI GL65 Leopard, which I'm very aware doesn't have the latest bleeding edge hardware:

  • Intel Core i7-10750H
  • 16GB of RAM
  • Nvidia Geforce 2060 with 6GB of vram As distro, I am using Fedora 39, KDE Plasma 5. Drivers are all up to date.
Settings and issues

As far as I can make out, the culprit bottle-necking performance is the GPU. I have tried running MangoHUD, and it seems like in pretty busy situations (which is fine and normal, mind you), the GPU uses 100% of it's capacity, as the CPU is sitting just fine at 60%. Otherwise, the game runs at 60fps just fine.

I am playing with Proton 9 as using Proton Experimental breaks DLSS.

When it comes to in-game settings:

DISPLAY SETTINGS

  • 1080p resolution
  • vsync - On
  • Dynamic resolution scale - Off
  • DLSS - Perfomance

GRAPHIC SETTINGS

  • Everything on low, outside textures on medium
  • Screen space shadows - On
  • DOF - Off
  • Bloom, Lens flares, Vignette, Radial Blur, Chromatic Aberration - On

TLDR: outside upgrading I don't think I can do much. Again, I am very aware that the hardware has it's age, and I am not pretending to have settings at ultra. I just want to squeeze what I have so that I can enjoy the game without thinking about performance. Horizon can totally be played at 30fps.
I am also very aware that the game just came out, and performance will likely be improved as time goes on.

However what I wanted to try is to limit fps to 30, so that it should technically help a bunch when it comes to GPU usage. On my end, that option is completely greyed out, hence I can't try and run the game at 30fps. Did anybody else face this issue, or other performance issues? Thanks in advance.

Volume Controls No Worky

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2024 - 3:12pm

On KDE plasma, audio controls don’t scale properly. 0 out audio and then turn it up, no sound till 20, then stays the same volume until 50 when it’s suddenly max volume, weird stuff like that.

This happens using either my knob on my keyboard, headphone’s slider, or hot keys on keyboard. Through desktop panel slider, audio control works perfectly. Could it be a hardware issue with my razer keyboard and audeze headset?

Fedora 39, Suyu/Yuzu issues with dGPU

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2024 - 12:59pm

Running Fedora 39, I'm using the suyu mainline.appimage and it functions great, except for when I use my dGPU. The game loads to 0fps and stays on a black screen. This is with Vulkan, and the 4080 selected with the drop-down box under graphics.

If I reboot in dGPU mode instead of hybrid, it will use it successfully, so this eliminates it being a program error. My thought process is that it can see my dGPU, and try to use it but something prevents it from being able to initialize and use it properly, so I'm thinking it's a config change or launch argument that I need.

Unfortunately launching with DRI_PRIME=1 doesn't help.

Any thoughts?

Other possibly relevant info, using GNOME 45, Wayland, with VRR patched in. Steam games and other apps have no problems using the Nvidia card. Various older versions of Yuzu exhibit the same problem, no change there. If I use Suyu/Yuzu with the integrated AMD graphics, it works properly.

I would just reboot to dGPU mode and leave it at that but I run into other random system issues, like xone drivers not working and display problems under Wayland. That doesn't bother me because I see no reason to take it off hybrid, but it's part of the reason I'm looking to solve the initial issue because running straight Nvidia under Wayland seems more problematic.

Thanks.
