[FOLLOW-UP] FIFA23 randomly crashes + cannot use mods.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 20:26

So I managed to run FIFA23, however when I tried using the mod manager (ran through Lutris) it gave this error code: 0x80090029, and it told me to check the log (https://pastebin.com/XKdBi6Gr). Also, the error message is this:

"CryptographicException: Unknown error (0x80090029)"

Alright, that is issue No.1. The second problem is that when I play a match, the game will give me a popup saying something along the lines of updating my drivers. The nvidia-driver debian package is currently on the latest version on my PC (used NVIDIA-SMI) to check.

Any fixes? I was so close to actually playing FIFA on Linux.

What mouse do you prefer for gaming/daily use on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 19:35

I'm using an MX Master 2S and I'm actually not that fond of it. Each "tick" of scrolling on the mouse does not always equal one "tick" of scrolling in software; for instance, I use my mouse to scroll between workspaces on GNOME and sometimes I need to scroll two clicks to move one workspace, and sometimes one click scrolls two workspaces. Sometimes after I finish scrolling, the mouse for some reason scrolls back the opposite way. Very annoying. It also needs to be charged constantly.

So I pose the question: What mouse do you find to be ideal for your use on Linux for both gaming and daily use? Why do you like it?

2 questions

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 18:57

i installed Linux mint on a older gaming pc. i have it hooked to a 4k tv in my living room. tv is 52 inches i do believe. so far it's really snappy and I'm loving it. i have 2 issues tho.

i am using a Xbox controller over Bluetooth and am getting noticeable lag between button presses and actions on screen. is there a way to fix this? is it because i had to scale mint to 300 percent to be able to read anything?

2nd issue is steam is unreadable...sometimes. when i close steam and reopen it it's a 50/50 on if everything is going to be super small and unusable or magically it's fine and i can read everything and it's all good.

Good speakers/soundbar for gaming on linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 17:19

Hello guys! Coming from Windows I used to buy Razer stuff but reading online they don't work well on Linux (the usual proprietary drivers, I assume). What are some good alternatives that will work well on a linux rig?

Osaka on the Steam Deck!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 17:03

If you like Azumanga Daioh (and Linux) you'll like this

it wasn't so difficult, it even has some sound. So basically it's working perfectly on SteamOS/Linux using Proton or Wine if you prefer

The only problem i found is that you can't play it on gaming mode but i haven't tried anything

Osaka

So, i saw someone posting about this game here and thought "will it run on the Steam Deck?"

Quitting Titanfall 2 crashes DE

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 16:11

Having severe issue with Titanfall 2 where it crashes my desktop to the login screen when quitting the game, when using Proton Experimental. I use Arch with Gnome 46 Wayland Ryzen 5 5600x RX6700xt. Only Titanfall 2 is having this issue, and older Proton versions work fine. I also need to remove the prefix for the game every time I relaunch Steam or Proton updates, or the EA app doesn't open but that's an older issue. Is anyone else experiencing this?

The issue also happens on my 2nd PC which is not yet updated to Gnome 46, so I think that can narrow it down to a Proton issue. Wanted to share crash log here but its so large at 16Mb it locks up Firefox just trying to put it into pastebin.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 14:39

I'm trying to play marvels Spider-Man using dualsense however when ever I press a button (X, O)

game does nothing but switch the PS icons to the Xbox icons (A, B) I tried disabling and enabling steam input but neither fixed the issue.

Steam test device shows that it gets all the inputs correct

RADF_PERFTEST=gpl already default in Mesa 24? Are the precompiled shaders in steam still necessary?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 13:31

Hey everyone,

I was asking myself, if RADF_PERFTEST=gpl is already default in Mesa 24? Are the precompiled shaders in steam still necessary or can they be disabled? I think I heard from that, but not sure anymore and can't find the information myself. Has anyone of you an idea?

Mafia 2: Definitive Edition - Bugs and Glitches

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26. März 2024 - 13:15

I just love game glitches. This happens pretty regular during cut scenes after playing for about 45 minutes to an hour. Objects on the face or just the face in general will appear distorted on one random character. There's also a bug that affects the npcs during fight/gun scenes where they just stand there all stiff. This causes me to restart the mission so they'll participate. idk if it has to do with the game, my pc, or linux but I find it kinda funny.

There's also an issue with DLCs not loading after connecting the game to an account on Steam. Not sure why. I have the game on GoG too and the dlcs load there.
